I'm so happy I found this place. Let's start off with location. It's conveniently located off a major road and is across the street from access to an atm machine. Which, will come in handy to any one else who didn't listen when they say CASH ONLY.  Once inside, there are tons and tons and tons of art work from various artists. Different styles and hundreds of images that should inspire your tattoo or expression of art (piercing). It's a really clean place and you can tell that the staff takes pride in their workplace. There were two artists in on the day that I walked in. Wolf and Beans. They're the sweetest, friendliest, and coolest guys ever! Beans was working on someone when I came in; and when the guy left, it was pretty obvious that he was happy with the results. Wolf was the one who worked on me. Across the board, I'd give him 5 stars. I don't think I've ever been in a tattoo parlor and was super nervous (albeit) excited. Wolf made the entire experience as easy and enjoyable as possible. Really, management should give the guy a bonus or something. I was borderline freaking out during the entire process and somehow he was comforting and friendly - while being professional. I had gotten a tattoo from here about three years ago and loved it, then got another about two years ago. When I got this tattoo, it was for someone in my family who passed away. I wasn't happy with the tattoo, it looked very rushed, and shaky. They are roman numerals and the lines aren't straight and look like a little kid drew them. I recently called because it is now also fading. The man on the phone was so rude and told me that artist hasn't been there for 5 years and they can't help me. I explained to them it was less than two years ago, and theres no way because the person that the tattoo was for, hasnt even been dead for 5 years. He told me to come in for him to check it out and when I came in he told me that it "looked fine" and he doesn't see why I want any changes, i explained to him i was unhappy with the permanent thing on my body and i would pay to have someone correct it or add to it to cover up the imperfections and he still said "whatever" and that it was "not necessary" I have recommended numerous people to this place after my first but now I will never go back and I will be posting my story on every platform that way they get NO MORE BUSINESS. If I could give a negative star, I would. I don't know the name of the tattoo artist that "helped" me but I went in there to inquire about a particular tattoo (something very small) and when he quoted the price I was a little shocked he would charge $100 for it. But he had the nerve to say, I have to pay my rent in a very nasty tone. I told him he didn't have to be nasty but he claimed I was the one that had an attitude. Me being shocked at the price verses having an attitude is two different things. With that being said, I don't give a f**k what bills you have to pay to keep that shop open, that's not how you speak to a potential client. I refuse to get anything done there. His attitude was disgusting and he continued to be condescending as I walked out. Your rent has nothing to do with me. You have a business so your bills are your business. Came in to find out prices and spoke to an Asian guy. I honestly don't know much about tattoos, since it was my first one. Very unhelpful. Came off as very rude that I left and went to solid gold tattoo shop. If you guys want clients, treat them like family not with attitude. I'm sure the rest of the staff are great people. Received my first tattoo by Mike. It was only my parents names on my forearm and although I was extremely nervous, he did an absolutely outstanding job at keeping me calm and collected as well as talking me through it the entire time to distract from the slight discomfort which wasn’t as bad as expected. He did a great job on the tattoo and I really felt at home throughout the whole process. Will definitely return for my second tattoo and I’d like to thank Mike and the entire staff for a comfortable, clean, and enjoyable experience. According to the sign outside, Tattooing by Richie was established in 1973.  That is a pretty amazing run!  Located on Hempstead Tpk. (on the right going West, left going East.)  Like my fellow reviewers said, it has a very old school, sailor-esque, hand drawn feeling once you are inside.  It is rare to find.  Every wall is covered with pretty much every type of tattoo you could image.  Reminds me of back when I was 18 and got my first tattoo. Most tattoo shops now are tiny, and modern.  I appreciated the feel of Richie's.Although I can't review the tattoos, I would seriously consider this place to add to my "tattoo collection." I wanted to get my nose pierced (for the 4th time) and possible get my septum jewelry changed.  I walked in and was immediately greeted by Mary, the resident piercer.  She wasn't what I expected (not all tatted and pierced.)  I liked that.  She brought me to the back and I filled out the appropriate paperwork and was shown the fresh jewelry.  First she showed me the different rings for the septum.  I wanted a smaller circle ring and she was able to accommodate.  She changed the ring one, two three and I loved it!  Now onto the nostril...Like I mentioned earlier, I have had this done 3 times prior and each experience has been different.  I was glad the studs were actually studs and weren't all bling-bling and huge like my first!   She let me pick the spot on my nose and a few seconds later I was pierced!  Yes, it hurt!  But a needle is going through your skin!  What do you expect?  I loved it. After all was done, I was a happy customer.  * I did have to come back a few days later to get one of the septum balls put back on because it did fall off.  Luckily was able to catch it, so I brought it back and Mary quickly screwed it back on - no charge.   * I suggest calling first if you plan on getting a piercing because Mary isn't always there.  I highly recommend Richie's! Richie and Mary are sweeties. We absolutely don't mind the 2.5hr drive from South Jersey to get up to the shop. We love our artist Mike Attack but everyone that works there treats us like family so we always have a damn good time bullshitting with everyone in house. This is the second tattoo I get from this place , they do a great job, I forgot who did my first tattto but the second one was done by John he is very talented , listens to what you want , gives his input and gives you ideas very patient and professional. Beautiful old school decor, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, and some really unique talent all live in this magical shop on Long Island. I came here to get tattooed by Karina Monzon, who is a unique an incredibly talented and dedicated artist. The tattoo she drew for me exceeded my expectations, and her execution of it was perfect. I highly recommend checking out Karina's work. This place is what tattoo shops were like before the Internet, and I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to visit a living legend. ive been tattooed in a lot of differnt shops around state of new york & a few spots in new orleans & theres something to be said about a shop that makes you feel comfortable no matter who you are and executes quality work in a chill environment. i came to get a piece from Mike, who is a true artist in his craft. mike goes above and beyond when it comes to the energy he puts into every tattoo.but even though i came for mike, i knew immediately i would be coming back to get work from some one else. thanks for keepin it real!
