If you want a generic tattoo for a cheap price, look elsewhere- Philip charges $225/hour.  Expensive, perhaps, but for something you will get PERMANENTLY inked on your body imho it is well worth it.  I went to sit down with him twice before my actual appointment, and basically my ideas were: "Uhhh something with water?  A fish maybe?  A spiral?  A flower...?"  Not very helpful, but when I saw the final design that he came up with based on my vague descriptions it was way more awesome than I could have ever come up with on my own.  He is also honest about what would look good, and won't just ink a tattoo for the sake of making money.  This is his art and passion, and it definitely shows in his work.  He originally wouldn't do a Polynesian-ish design because he said he didn't want to misrepresent the culture since he was unfamiliar with it.  He only agreed because he said he could tell these things meant something to me.  He has also never done the same tattoo twice, so he comes up with something original for everyone.  To me that shows that he takes pride and puts thought into his work.  And yes, like another reviewer mentioned, there is legit authentic food in our hood for when you get hungry.  Clean studio (with wi-fi), down-to-earth artist, and great work! Styx Tattoo by far exceeded my expectations.  I had a portrait of my grandmother done by Phillip this past weekend and the final product is beyond impressive.  Not only did he capture in great detail features like the glare in her eyes, the tattoo and picture are identical.  Styx Tattoo is very clean, welcoming, and professional.  I would highly recommend this place/artist to anyone who is looking to get a high quality tattoo. Well what can I say about Phillip? About a year ago while I was walking in my neighborhood I happen to end up in front of a tattoo shop. I had my sketchbook with me and figured, "what the hell?", went inside to take a look. Upon meeting Phillip he sat down with me as I showed him a rough idea of what I was looking to do on my arm. He brighten up immediately and started giving his ideas. In fact he got so animated that he couldn't convey the thought which was funny. He broke out a red sharpie and asked if I minded him showing me? I let him draw on my arm and in about 15 minutes I not only saw what he was trying to convey to me, I saw my tattoo artist! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Philip recently tattooed a quote on my forearm. I was really nervous about it! I wasn't sure what lettering to choose and I wasn't crazy about the options in a book provided. Philip customized a font for me based on a brief description and he knocked it out of the park! And believe me when I tell you that I am nearly impossible to please. It was exactly what I wanted and more. He had an awesome personality and I felt very comfortable. His place was clean and pretty cool. I really liked the personal attention since its his own place. I'm currently getting my first sleeve done by Philip. He does such amazing work! His style is diverse and is especially strong in Japanese art. Also he's friendly & knowledgeable.
