I had bad experience. I stopped by at the shop back in May with some ideas for a tattoo. They took pictures, asked me about it, wrote my contact information down and told me the wait was going to be about 2 months. That's cool. In July, when I had not heard from them almost 3 months after the first visit, I called them back. They told me they did not see me in their records so they had no idea who I was, but they said to make sure I should e-mail. I did, I got the response that everything was great, that I am still on the wait-list for a tattoo and they will contact me shortly. Never heard back from them afterwards. Disappointed.

I love this place. Josh and Matt and the rest of the gang are awesome to hang with. I've gotten all my tattoos but one done here and I live over an hour away. I make the drive because it's an extremely clean place, as well as artistic. Josh has some of the coolest art pieces around to check out. If you need someone to do your tats ask for Matt Scheftic!

Always an amazing experience with these guys. However, Chris went above and beyond to make our tattoos exactly what we wanted. I will deff be getting more work by him in the near future!

This is easily the best shop in Ithaca or Cortland. One of the best in all of Upstate. Finding this type of quality work outside of an major city is a rare treat.

I was wondering through NY (from PA) originally going to get wine ice cream when I decided to get a tattoo instead. I quickly looked up shops (though I don't feel right calling Ascend a shop-it's more of an establishment) & read reviews. Under Your Skin was automatically ruled out. I went to Sacred, who were busy til close & they recommended Ascend. Honestly, I'm so glad I did. I walked into a nice, professional, clean shop & was immediately greeted with a friendly smile & th...ough I didn't know what I was going to get, understanding & patience. My best friend & I sat down to look through the portfolios & we were both highly impressed with the clean, precise line work, smooth transitions into color, & the overall details of every single picture of every artist. I've never walked into a place where I could put my trust into not only one but 6 immensely capable artists. Chris did the tragedy/comedy masks on the back of my thighs just last night & they look incredible. I'm more than willing to drive the 2-3 hours into NY just to get work done by either of them, no matter how small. See More

Very professional and high-grade shop located in downtown Cortland. The shop personnel are active on social media and responsive to inquiries and communication, which is a real plus. Whether you're getting your first tattoo or your 20th, you want to be able to have clear channels of communication with your artist.The artists working at this shop are all top-notch and I wouldn't hesitate to be tattooed by any of them. They have different styles, so I advise checking out their online portfolios (or the ones in the store) before making a decision. This is not a shop that has folders of pre-designed tattoos hanging all over the walls; they focus on custom work or reproductions of things you might bring in (like artwork or portraits).A tip: They accept credit cards only for totals over $300. There are plenty of ATMs around, though.
