I was a client of Mark Madden back in 2009 when he had the old Elmwood location. The first time I went to him was in April 2009 when he did my second tattoo which was my grandma's memorial tattoo and he seemed nice and did a great job, and he even did the album artwork for a small demo I made. In June 2009 I went back to him to try getting a tattoo that I was supposed to get done at eternal ink but got screwed over by them so I went back to Mark. The tattoo I was planning to get was a motley crue sola tattoo on my left forearm. I went in I talked to Mark in person about the tattoo, I paid him my deposit and I booked 2 1/2 months in advance for an August 18, 2009 appointment date which was on my birthday and it was scheduled for 5pm. Mark gave me my appointment card with my deposit amount and my date/time written on it and he told me to email him a picture reference as to what I wanted so I did. He never responded to me so I sent another email and still got no response. Closer to my appointment date I tried emailing him a 3rd time to make sure he was still planning to do my tattoo and I still got no response. So on the day of my appointment I went in and got there 20 mins early so I showed my id, filled out paperwork and sat in the waiting room patiently waiting for my turn. Then 5pm rolls around and he's still tattooing another client so I waited another hour and a half then around 6:30pm he walks out from his tattoo room with some girl who cut into my appointment, he got nasty and said what do you want and why are you here? I said I had an appointment that was booked 2 1/2 months in advance and he's the one who booked it and he was unprofessional and had nothing drawn up and nothing prepared. When I spoke up and showed my appointment card with my date and time he got nasty with me and caused a scene because he had an audience in the waiting room. I told him it was my birthday and he said he didn't care, he threw my deposit in my face and had his little front desk person lock me out of the shop and they unlocked the door for a minute and took some random person who walked in off the street corner and gave them what was left of my appointment. I haven't seen Mark since that incident. Needless to say 3 days after Mark screwed me over I ended up getting my tattoo done by Jay @ Carl's Tattoos in North Tonawanda. Read Less

This location is brilliant! The stations are private so that the artist and person getting tattooed aren't being gawked at by ppl coming in for consultations, or waiting as a friend gets work done. The shop has a wide variety of artists that can draw up a personalized piece. Clean ( very important on my list for a tattoo/ piercing shop) . Friendly staff. All able to lay solid lines without blow outs or fades. The shop itself is like a museum filled wall to wall with p...aintings that are done by artists that work there. Spacious waiting room with portfolios to see tattoos by each artist. Friendly, patient, and professional. Here I was nervous about moving from the city to Buffalo for school. But as a tattoo lover, I was even more paranoid about finding a good tattoo shop! (Especially after my first tat I got in the city) After shopping around for sometime I stumbled into this rather... Interesting to say the least... shop not too far from my campus. The staff is overly friendly and helpful. They are more than willing to answer any questions and concerns you may have. After speaking about the sankofa tattoo I had been vying after for about a year, I was booked to come in and have it done with Tommy! He's absolutely awesome. Took just under or about 30 minutes to do it, was nice, kept conversation at a good level (not too chatty and not too quiet) and it looked EXACTLY like the picture I brought in. Clean lines and affordable too. The base price is $70 which I complained about at first. Being a broke college student is no joke but if I can muster up the money for a tattoo it might as well be well worth what I'm paying! I even tipped... Tipped! Tipping in college?! Unheard of. I am satisfied with the tattoo. However, they are not professional. For starters, I was never asked for ID. Then, the guy doing that tattoo had a terrible cold. Ummmm why would I want a sick person giving me an open wound?! Lastly, and the worst part of all, while getting the tattoo I overheard a conversation in the back (between 2 employees) about white supremacy, which needless to say made me extremely uncomfortable.
