I've contacted the state about the business they do and I'm having my attorney write a letter to the attorney general. Worste company ever !!!!

I was kind of nervous about getting the piercings, but Gina answered all of my questions and made me feel a lot less nervous about getting them. Plus, they look fantastic. If you're looking to get a piercing, this is the place to go to. 10/10 definitely recommend.

I went to Modern Body Art earlier today for a piercing . I was told I had to wait because the piercer was helping someone else at the moment. Mind you I was the only one on the shop waiting for anything. I sat down and waited ten minutes before the piercer came to the counter to finish up two girls that were before me .When she was done she looked right at me and didn't ask me if I needed help, instead she walked to the back and started to clean absolutely nothing . I still waited another 10 minutes after that because I assumed she was going to eventually ask .The staff member that initially told me to wait was on his phone and neglected to tell the piercer that someone was waiting . It seems to me she didn't wanted to be bothered with someone of color because she clearly saw I was waiting and the man was to distracted to do his job. Unfortunately I am not from upstate and I was looking for the best reviewed tattoo and piercing shops in Albany and found this shop . If I had known they were so unprofessional and rude I wouldn't have wasted my time going there in the first place.

I went there about two years ago, and I had previously a great experience getting two piercings there (the piercer is great 10/10 would recommend). Since I got the piercings there, I decided to get my first tattoo there. I did my research and I liked the portfolios of all the artists. I go in to get my tattoo and while i was getting it done the artist moved and messed up the tattoo and proceeded to blame me for moving. He then continued to go over the part that he messed up, and he went over it so many times that I got scarring. My friend also came with me and the tattoo artist told her that she should eat more. When I went to get my tattoo touched up, I went to a different artist and he told me that he felt so bad for me about what happened that he gave me a discount. Sounds like i'm making it up, but i'm not. The two star rating is only because the piercer is great.The attached photo is to show the scarring, the lighter part in the middle of the line is where the scarring is.

Before I went in yesterday (walk-in) I sent modern body art a Facebook message with a couple questions. They were super responsive and were sure to check with the right party to make sure the info I got was accurate. That gave me a good vibe right away. The shop was big and clean (awesome floors) and on street parking wasn't a problem. I went in for a helix piercing and to get my nipples pierced. I was understandably a bit nervous. Gina was awesome. She was the perfect mix of laid back and professional. She clearly knew what she was doing, was confident and answered all my questions knowledgeably. She was fast and efficient and I was shocked how minimally painful it was. Everything went incredibly smoothly and I was in and out in about 15 minutes. I haven't gotten a tattoo there (yet) but I would highly recommend Gina for piercing and will be back if I ever decide to get more! Nipples: both for $100 and helix $60- jewelry included.

I made an appt with Gina for my third ear holes and a fourth in one ear. Gina greeted me the second I walked in the door and was sooo nice and friendly and had I been nervous at all, she would have definitely calmed any nerves. Gina was so helpful with placement and balance and it's clear she's a true master at what she does. Painless and pleasant -- the entire experience. The shop in itself is superbly comfortable, cool and spotless. Don't think about going anywhere else, you are in amazing, professional and artistic hands!

I had a walk-in with Tommy after my 4 year old cartilage piercing swelled up and became embedded yesterday. He was able to remove it quickly and efficiently (with an assist from Gavin) and was very considerate of my comfort level during the process. He replaced my old jewelry with a new hoop from a sealed, sterile package, and the shop itself was clean and organized. I didn't catch the name of the woman who greeted me when I walked in, but she was friendly and welcoming. Overall, everyone there made sure my experience was as painless as possible under the circumstances, and I will absolutely visit Modern Body Art again in the future. Highly recommend!

Going to echo all the other reviews and say this place is great! I got it in my head that I needed my septum pierced and after some research decided to stop by this place to see their master piercer, Gina. She was great about addressing some of my concerns about getting a septum piercing with a deviated septum, and when I decided to go for it, she was pleasant, professional, and gentle throughout the whole process. The shop is clean, their piercing equipment is sterile and one-use only, and Gina does a great job making you feel relaxed and comfortable. I was in and out with a new hole in my face in less than 30 minutes. If you're looking to get pierced in Albany, go see Gina!

Went to see Gina yesterday to have her do the piercings for our family. She was so patient with my girls. My 14 year old was having her nose pierced and we were getting our 2 month old daughters ears done. She was very reassuring with my older daughter who was nervous and she was amazing with the baby. She also did my nose and an industrial on my fiancé. Everything was sterile and changed out with each of us. We can't stop talking about what a wonderful experience it was and how awesome of a job she did on all of us. Can't recommend her enough! We will definitely go back to her for any future piercings!!

Everyone was really nice but I am super disappointed in my tattoo. Customer service was wonderful. I saw all of the awesome reviews and decided to go in for a walk in foot tattoo. The artist warned me about fading with foot tattoos, which I was prepared to deal with, but there are literally gaps in the ink of my tattoo. And you can tell where she pushed too hard and the ink is bleeding out the sides of what should be sharp lines. The facility was really nice and everyone was welcoming! Just not pleased with the result at all. Customer service was great tho.

Really nice looking shop, staff is super friendly. I came in for the Friday the 13th deal and I was on a bit of a time restraint because even though they are a great shop, they have a very inconvenient location. Took me 45 min to find a parking spot , but when I went in I told the front desk that I was running late for work and she had me taken care of in a really considerate timely manner. The artist I had, I didn't catch his name, was also very sweet. I went for a tattoo last Friday the 13th and the lady who did my tattoo last time was also very kind. I would recommend anyone to go here

If you're thinking about going here, don't. The one artist named Tommy could care less about how your life long commitment called a tattoo turns out. He was very unprofessional and when he was done with the tattoo, that was when he informed us that he was not used to that style of tattoo that my friend had gotten. He made every excuse in the book as to why he messed up his tattoo instead of taking it on himself to say that he hadn't done a great job and didn't even offer to repair/cover up the tattoo. Overall the experience was very unpleasant and now my friend has to get his tattoo laser removed and re-tattooed by another shop. Luckily this other shop "Shocker Tattoo" is nothing but professionals and are doing everything to mend the situation as best as possible. If you want to get a tattoo I strongly suggest Shocker and stay as far away from modern body art as possible.

This is by far the best tattoo shop I have ever been in. My wife and I were both tattooed by Tommy who was outstanding. He did a custom rose cover up on my wife's hand. It was amazing. He was great to work with, helpful with deciding exactly what the best tat would be for her responsive to her wants and needs. I had a specific design that I brought in with me and he recreated it perfectly. There is nothing I can say bad about this place. The entire staff was friendly, helpful, and it was just a great experience all around. My wife has also been pierced here, and the experience was just as good. If you want ink or a piercing, there's noplace else to go but Modern Body Art.

I decided to take a trip over to Modern Body Art to check out the pricing/availability for ear piercings- with hopes to get my ears pierced today. Staff was extremely friendly and they were able to get me in with Gina right away, even without an appointment. The pricing was very reasonable (only $10 more than I would have payed at Piercing Pagoda at the mall) and it was absolutely worth it for this professional piercing job. Gina was SO great and made me feel super comfortable the whole time! The facility was very clean and welcoming. Such a pleasant experience!!

I have gotten three tattoos here and two piercings, and I don't have a negative thing to say. Staff are very welcoming and they don't try and get you to just spend your money, but talk things over with you and make sure you know exactly what you want. I even had an issue with my earring and swelling and Gina made sure to squeeze me in on a busy day to help me relieve my pain. I am very impressed, and happy to be a returning customer.

Minimal pain, even 3 hours later. She knows what she's doing. I'll have no problem recommending her to anybody thinking about piercing. Super pleased with the process and really pleased with the results.

I got my septum done by Gina and she was so sweet and fun to work with. Rook was her apprentice and together they made me feel as relaxed as possible (because my endorphin's and adrenaline rush were going 800 mph) Gina and Rook were so much to work with. The piercing room was extremely clean, everything was in autoclave packages. The entire process was very fast, she did it freehand and it came out straight as a hairpin. I have a pretty low pain tolerance and I would rate it a 4 out of 10, it really wasn't bad. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants one. I'm really happy I chose this place.

I'd never gotten a piercing other than my earlobes, and wanted to get two small piercings further up my ear. I called Modern Body Art to see if I could book a same day appointment and they were considerate enough to let me know that there was someone there who could do a piercing, but they wanted to make sure he could handle it before booking. I called back once he got in, confirmed it was ok, and was there an hour later. I emphasize this because they were cautious and communicative--instead of just getting me in to make money.Sam did my piercing and was calm and nice about the whole thing. He explained the process for the two piercings and told me the cost and aftercare up front. At no point did I feel nervous or uncomfortable. He answered all my questions and helped me have realistic expectations about the healing process after.Everyone was SO nice, and the place was clean and organized. I appreciated the friendly atmosphere and how fast they were able to get me in and out. Two days later, piercings are healing well, and my friend even made a deposit for a tattoo as well!

Very very happy with my new septum piercing!! My friends and I had all come in to get our piercings done, me for my septum, my friend for her nose and another for his ears. I was a little cautious at first because there weren't too many places listed on Yelp and most had very little reviews but at the end I had decided to check out Modern Body Art. Gina, a very kind and funny woman, did all our piercings for us. The piercings were fantastic and look amazing. She talked us through it and kept a warming environment. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my piercing as are my friends and plan on coming back for any future piercings.

I've had three tattoos done at Modern Body Art and it has been a phenomenal experience each time. The staff is very friendly and outgoing and excited to work with you for the best tattoo. Not only do they work with you, but the artists work really well together as well. On my last visit my best friend and I got matching tats and the two artists worked with us to come up with a design we'd both really love. Such a wonderful experience! My most recent one was done by Josh Mosh, and I can't wait to work with him again on my next piece! I will definitely be back soon.

i went here reading the good reviews and after getting a tattoo from a guy named Josh, I am very disappointed. Foremost, his lines are not straight and he rushes through the tattoo. I can tell he just wanted to finish quickly and he put no passion into my tattoo. I don't know how the other artist are in modern body art but don't waste your time with Josh. I have been getting tattooed for over 5+ years and I can vouch that he has no passion in what he does. The most important thing in giving someone a permanent tattoo is to make them feel comfortable with their ideas and to create those ideas into something beautiful and Josh completely destroyed that. I would recommend going to a more well known tattoo parlor such as lark tattoo.

HUGE... I don't think in my whole life Ive been in such a big space to get a tattoo. Staff is truly on point. Seemed like they all got a long great which isn't always the case in a shop. I went in to look the place over and wasn't bothered by artists in competition to make their next sale. Got something small but will be back for another on my next trip upstate. The place is clean and friendly. Not much more you can ask for from a tattoo shop. The work speaks for itself, take a look at the books and treat yourself to some new art if your in the Albany area.

I went to Modern Body Art earlier today for a piercing . I was told I had to wait because the piercer was helping someone else at the moment. Mind you I was the only one on the shop waiting for anything. I sat down and waited ten minutes before the piercer came to the counter to finish up two girls that were before me .When she was done she looked right at me and didn't ask me if I needed help, instead she walked to the back and started to clean absolutely nothing . I still waited another 10 minutes after that because I assumed she was going to eventually ask .The staff member that initially told me to wait was on his phone and neglected to tell the piercer that someone was waiting . It seems to me she didn't wanted to be bothered with someone of color because she clearly saw I was waiting and the man was to distracted to do his job. Unfortunately I am not from upstate and I was looking for the best reviewed tattoo and piercing shops in Albany and found this shop . If I had known they were so unprofessional and rude I wouldn't have wasted my time going there in the first place.

I went there about two years ago, and I had previously a great experience getting two piercings there (the piercer is great 10/10 would recommend). Since I got the piercings there, I decided to get my first tattoo there. I did my research and I liked the portfolios of all the artists. I go in to get my tattoo and while i was getting it done the artist moved and messed up the tattoo and proceeded to blame me for moving. He then continued to go over the part that he messed up, and he went over it so many times that I got scarring. My friend also came with me and the tattoo artist told her that she should eat more. When I went to get my tattoo touched up, I went to a different artist and he told me that he felt so bad for me about what happened that he gave me a discount. Sounds like i'm making it up, but i'm not. The two star rating is only because the piercer is great.The attached photo is to show the scarring, the lighter part in the middle of the line is where the scarring is.

Before I went in yesterday (walk-in) I sent modern body art a Facebook message with a couple questions. They were super responsive and were sure to check with the right party to make sure the info I got was accurate. That gave me a good vibe right away. The shop was big and clean (awesome floors) and on street parking wasn't a problem. I went in for a helix piercing and to get my nipples pierced. I was understandably a bit nervous. Gina was awesome. She was the perfect mix of laid back and professional. She clearly knew what she was doing, was confident and answered all my questions knowledgeably. She was fast and efficient and I was shocked how minimally painful it was. Everything went incredibly smoothly and I was in and out in about 15 minutes. I haven't gotten a tattoo there (yet) but I would highly recommend Gina for piercing and will be back if I ever decide to get more! Nipples: both for $100 and helix $60- jewelry included.

Gina greeted me the second I walked in the door and was sooo nice and friendly and had I been nervous at all, she would have definitely calmed any nerves. Gina was so helpful with placement and balance and it's clear she's a true master at what she does. Painless and pleasant -- the entire experience. The shop in itself is superbly comfortable, cool and spotless. Don't think about going anywhere else, you are in amazing, professional and artistic hands!

I had a walk-in with Tommy after my 4 year old cartilage piercing swelled up and became embedded yesterday. He was able to remove it quickly and efficiently (with an assist from Gavin) and was very considerate of my comfort level during the process. He replaced my old jewelry with a new hoop from a sealed, sterile package, and the shop itself was clean and organized. I didn't catch the name of the woman who greeted me when I walked in, but she was friendly and welcoming. Overall, everyone there made sure my experience was as painless as possible under the circumstances, and I will absolutely visit Modern Body Art again in the future. Highly recommend!

Going to echo all the other reviews and say this place is great! I got it in my head that I needed my septum pierced and after some research decided to stop by this place to see their master piercer, Gina. She was great about addressing some of my concerns about getting a septum piercing with a deviated septum, and when I decided to go for it, she was pleasant, professional, and gentle throughout the whole process. The shop is clean, their piercing equipment is sterile and one-use only, and Gina does a great job making you feel relaxed and comfortable. I was in and out with a new hole in my face in less than 30 minutes. If you're looking to get pierced in Albany, go see Gina!

Went to see Gina yesterday to have her do the piercings for our family. She was so patient with my girls. My 14 year old was having her nose pierced and we were getting our 2 month old daughters ears done. She was very reassuring with my older daughter who was nervous and she was amazing with the baby. She also did my nose and an industrial on my fiancé. Everything was sterile and changed out with each of us. We can't stop talking about what a wonderful experience it was and how awesome of a job she did on all of us. Can't recommend her enough! We will definitely go back to her for any future piercings!!

Everyone was really nice but I am super disappointed in my tattoo. Customer service was wonderful. I saw all of the awesome reviews and decided to go in for a walk in foot tattoo. The artist warned me about fading with foot tattoos, which I was prepared to deal with, but there are literally gaps in the ink of my tattoo. And you can tell where she pushed too hard and the ink is bleeding out the sides of what should be sharp lines. The facility was really nice and everyone was welcoming! Just not pleased with the result at all. Customer service was great tho.

I came in for the Friday the 13th deal and I was on a bit of a time restraint because even though they are a great shop, they have a very inconvenient location. Took me 45 min to find a parking spot , but when I went in I told the front desk that I was running late for work and she had me taken care of in a really considerate timely manner. The artist I had, I didn't catch his name, was also very sweet. I went for a tattoo last Friday the 13th and the lady who did my tattoo last time was also very kind. Sam was my piercer, he made me feel very comfortable and did a great job. My ear doesnt hurt, it isn't bruised, and i sleep on it fine. Will definitely be back for another.

If you're thinking about going here, don't. The one artist named Tommy could care less about how your life long commitment called a tattoo turns out. He was very unprofessional and when he was done with the tattoo, that was when he informed us that he was not used to that style of tattoo that my friend had gotten. He made every excuse in the book as to why he messed up his tattoo instead of taking it on himself to say that he hadn't done a great job and didn't even offer to repair/cover up the tattoo. Overall the experience was very unpleasant and now my friend has to get his tattoo laser removed and re-tattooed by another shop. Luckily this other shop "Shocker Tattoo" is nothing but professionals and are doing everything to mend the situation as best as possible. If you want to get a tattoo I strongly suggest Shocker and stay as far away from modern body art as possible.

He was great to work with, helpful with deciding exactly what the best tat would be for her responsive to her wants and needs. I had a specific design that I brought in with me and he recreated it perfectly. There is nothing I can say bad about this place. The entire staff was friendly, helpful, and it was just a great experience all around. My wife has also been pierced here, and the experience was just as good. If you want ink or a piercing, there's noplace else to go but Modern Body Art.

Gina the piercer on duty came and greeted me personally. When it was time , she made me feel completely at ease. Extremely clean. New, Sanitary needles. Piercing came out great. She's amazing. Definitely recommend.

I decided to take a trip over to Modern Body Art to check out the pricing/availability for ear piercings- with hopes to get my ears pierced today. Staff was extremely friendly and they were able to get me in with Gina right away, even without an appointment. The pricing was very reasonable (only $10 more than I would have payed at Piercing Pagoda at the mall) and it was absolutely worth it for this professional piercing job. Gina was SO great and made me feel super comfortable the whole time! The facility was very clean and welcoming. Such a pleasant experience!!

I have gotten three tattoos here and two piercings, and I don't have a negative thing to say. Staff are very welcoming and they don't try and get you to just spend your money, but talk things over with you and make sure you know exactly what you want. I even had an issue with my earring and swelling and Gina made sure to squeeze me in on a busy day to help me relieve my pain. I am very impressed, and happy to be a returning customer.

Called to check piercing availability today.....no problem - walkins welcomed. Gina was amazing. Did both nipples within a couple of minutes. Made me feel so relaxed. Minimal pain, even 3 hours later. She knows what she's doing. I'll have no problem recommending her to anybody thinking about piercing. Super pleased with the process and really pleased with the results.

I got my septum done by Gina and she was so sweet and fun to work with. Rook was her apprentice and together they made me feel as relaxed as possible (because my endorphin's and adrenaline rush were going 800 mph) Gina and Rook were so much to work with. The piercing room was extremely clean, everything was in autoclave packages. The entire process was very fast, she did it freehand and it came out straight as a hairpin. I have a pretty low pain tolerance and I would rate it a 4 out of 10, it really wasn't bad. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants one. I'm really happy I chose this place.

I'd never gotten a piercing other than my earlobes, and wanted to get two small piercings further up my ear. I called Modern Body Art to see if I could book a same day appointment and they were considerate enough to let me know that there was someone there who could do a piercing, but they wanted to make sure he could handle it before booking. I called back once he got in, confirmed it was ok, and was there an hour later. I emphasize this because they were cautious and communicative--instead of just getting me in to make money.Sam did my piercing and was calm and nice about the whole thing. He explained the process for the two piercings and told me the cost and aftercare up front. At no point did I feel nervous or uncomfortable. He answered all my questions and helped me have realistic expectations about the healing process after.Everyone was SO nice, and the place was clean and organized. I appreciated the friendly atmosphere and how fast they were able to get me in and out. Two days later, piercings are healing well, and my friend even made a deposit for a tattoo as well!

Very very happy with my new septum piercing!! My friends and I had all come in to get our piercings done, me for my septum, my friend for her nose and another for his ears. I was a little cautious at first because there weren't too many places listed on Yelp and most had very little reviews but at the end I had decided to check out Modern Body Art. Gina, a very kind and funny woman, did all our piercings for us. The piercings were fantastic and look amazing. She talked us through it and kept a warming environment. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my piercing as are my friends and plan on coming back for any future piercings.

I've had three tattoos done at Modern Body Art and it has been a phenomenal experience each time. The staff is very friendly and outgoing and excited to work with you for the best tattoo. Not only do they work with you, but the artists work really well together as well. On my last visit my best friend and I got matching tats and the two artists worked with us to come up with a design we'd both really love. Such a wonderful experience! My most recent one was done by Josh Mosh, and I can't wait to work with him again on my next piece! I will definitely be back soon.

i went here reading the good reviews and after getting a tattoo from a guy named Josh, I am very disappointed. Foremost, his lines are not straight and he rushes through the tattoo. I can tell he just wanted to finish quickly and he put no passion into my tattoo. I don't know how the other artist are in modern body art but don't waste your time with Josh. I have been getting tattooed for over 5+ years and I can vouch that he has no passion in what he does. The most important thing in giving someone a permanent tattoo is to make them feel comfortable with their ideas and to create those ideas into something beautiful and Josh completely destroyed that. I would recommend going to a more well known tattoo parlor such as lark tattoo.

HUGE... I don't think in my whole life Ive been in such a big space to get a tattoo. Staff is truly on point. Seemed like they all got a long great which isn't always the case in a shop. I went in to look the place over and wasn't bothered by artists in competition to make their next sale. Got something small but will be back for another on my next trip upstate. The place is clean and friendly. Not much more you can ask for from a tattoo shop. The work speaks for itself, take a look at the books and treat yourself to some new art if your in the Albany area.

I've since recommended them to friends and I've been wanting wanting to go back to finish the sleeve but I'm not sure what to do with the remaining real estate.
