Got a great tattoo earlier this year Evan made it into a beautiful one, haven't had any of the others. Clean, friendly, and willing to give you a break now and then. I've gotten three tattoos from Evan and people are always asking me where I got them and giving me compliments! I went in to get a consultation for a tattoo. I didn't make an appointment so I walked in, but I was totally willing to if they had told me to. when I walked in I wasn't really greeted by anyone, which was cool because there were several people at the counter. when some guy at the light table noticed me he said how can I help you and I went over. I described to him what I would like and if it would be possible. He was EXTREMELY rude! he basically said that what I wanted was impossible, I wanted the outline of the state with a small phrase in side, and he told me that they couldnot do it because the letters all had to be 1in by 1in and that it wouldn't fit. I'm no tattoo artist but I'm pretty sure you can tattoo a letter small than that. The whole 2 minutes I was talking to him he had a bad attitude and acted if he didn't want my business or my money. He rudely mentioned that they didn't do free sketches and offered no other options for my tattoo. I know that I'm not the oldest client (19) but my money is just as green as anyone elses and when I go into a professional establishment I expected to be treated a little better. I was really disappointed because I have heard so many great reviews from good friends and family. I wouldn't recommend, because when I'm getting a needle repeatedly stabbed into my skin I'd like the artist to at least be friendly. Read Less

Tick does the best tattoo work I have ever seen. Perfect shading. Perfect colors. Her artwork is absolutely amazing - your tattoos will look like you had them done by someone who charges at least 5x as much. That said, she is very professional and down to earth and she keeps her work space sanitary. I've had 2 tattoos done by her and they both turned out amazing. I'll be going back for another as soon as I can afford it. her work is so good, I don't want to look back and wish I could find an artist as good as she is. Read Less

I came to visit from California and wanted a tattoo to commemorate my great grandmothers 90th birthday. I contacted Tick because she came highly recommended by a reputable artist in my hometown. Tick was going to be out of town for a tattoo convention but she remained in contact with me to design my piece while she was away. VERY professional. Ended up her flight was delayed coming home so my appointment time had to be pushed back. Tick proceeded to cancel her appointments for the rest of the day because she knew how important it was to me that I got the tattoo before I left town. Tick did the most absolutely amazing work I have ever seen. I have quite a few tattoos from various places and this was by far one of the best experiences I have ever had. Top three artist in town in one place it is an awesome relaxed atmosphere where it feels like you with a bunch of old friends not only is it a great tattoo shop but doubles as an art gallery displaying local artist work by far the only shop I would send anyone to in las cruces liked them so much got a sleeve there and started to design more! So deciding that I was in need of a tattoo, I yelped tattoo shops in San Jose and came across Humble Beginnings with it's consistently positive 4+ star reviews.  Being the slacker/procrastinator that I am I split from work on a Friday afternoon to swing by and check this place out praying I'd be able to get an appointment for that same weekend.   All their regular artists were booked for months however as it happened, Tick the traveling tattoo artist (from Black Rat Tattoo) was in town and I was able to get a time for that Sunday.  I gave her some ideas of what I was looking at and she took that and ran with it coming up with a nice twist on what I was looking for.  Session was great, Tick had a good pace, very mellow, didn't feel as though she was rushing and of course the most important my tattoo came out great and I'm loving it and getting all kinds of kudos on how good it looks.  Guess the only reason I would have to give this place 4 stars in lieu of 5 is that I can't really rate the shop as I got it done at a shop in San Jose, but from the pics on their site the place looks to have been done up real nicely.  Anyhow, I would definitely recommend Tick and the work she does.
