I’ve been here a couple times over the past few years, and not once have I left displeased or unsatisfied. The staff and artists are knowledgable, friendly and easy to talk and communicate with. I’ve been to many parlors and immediately felt uncomfortable due to uptight staff and a dreary, unnerving atmostphere. I can say with 100% certainty, Hole in the Sky is NOT one of these places. They are super professional, and the store owner, Geoff, is an artist I am honored to have had the pleasure of working with for my latest tattoo. Regarding my latest piece, it came out perfectly. Got my belly button pierced by Danny. He was so nice and professional. I have a very low tolerance to pain (I have fainted on the table at a wax center before) but I only felt a pinch getting this done. I came here because of the great reviews, but mostly because of the reviews of it being clean and hygienic. I’m a nurse so I’m overly particular about sterility and aseptic practices and I wasn’t at all disappointed. I highly recommend this place! Read Less

This place is very clean, well organized and has a great atmosphere but the review is more about the artist. For the business you get 5 stars. I have seen some pretty ugly, dark, dirty, eerie places, this shop is not that. It's got great imagination and a great layout for the space. It kind of reminds me of Asia and New Orleans vs Fu Man Chu all in one. It has a, theme. So kudos to you guys. Now the Artist. Eric is at a few different places so call for his hours. The artist Eric Newman and he is the man.  I had my first tatoo by Eric over 20 years ago. That first tattoo was hand drawn, one of a kind and made for my dad. This was featured in Ink World July of 2004 along with Eric. Since then Eric has put his ink on my girl, sister, mom, son, niece and the last was my daughter. Running joke is he has done my entire family lol. My mom said he was the best thing between her legs in years hahaha. She was marked on her ankle.  Since then I have accumulated 6 tattoos, 1 of them is sleeve in progress but halted due to back surgeries. This will be done when I am ready. Everybody that has a guy or gal who does their work is known to support their artist. Mine is Eric. I have had the pleasure of sitting with, meeting, watching several artists both domestic and international and seen some wicked stuff. I been around what or who people consider the best around, 2 year waiting lists,  major deposits etc. and some are truly deserving and others just have blown up heads. Eric is a friend and putting ink on my body for life is not a decision I would make over a friendship, it's the work,  detail,  color, time,  imagination and compassion he portrays.  I would highly recommend and suggest Eric to any and all, first timers or ink masters. Just a hint.... If you are one of those people who are looking for something but don't know, talk to Eric, spend some time, then a light bulb goes off and he goes to town. Read Less

Place s-o clean and neat. Geoff is awesome. Geoff and danny are very accommodating and not intimidating. Geoff (artist) for me is the best artist i've had. After finally knowing what I wanted my first tattoo to be, I was referred by a friend to come to Geoff. She said he would listen to me and really take my idea of a design to whole different level of perfection.I came in feeling a little nervous and he showed me the design. I had nothing to say about it since it was exactly what I imagined it would be. He made me feel comfortable while I was getting tattooed and his stag were all very friendly to me as well. Geoff made sure I was fine with the design and was open to any changes, which as a customer I truly appreciate. The design was amazing and couldn't have imagined a better one. This was an awesome experience! When I called to make the appointment I talked with Danny, who was very pleasant and helpful. When my friend and I came in to get my tattoo done he greeted us and we didn't have to wait long to meet Geoff, the artist who did my tattoo. I wanted a wrist tattoo of my mom's handwriting, and it came out perfectly. Geoff was really patient and kind and we had fun chatting with him while he worked. He gave me detailed instructions on how to take care of my tattoo (which was a good thing because it had been 15 years since my last one so I needed a refresher). Found my new tattoo spot. Love these guys. My two best friends and I decided to get matching tattoos on a whim and after speaking with a few shops, we decided on Hole in the Sky. Not only were they patient with all of our annoying questions, they were super nice and took the time to explain everything we needed to know. We made an appointment with Eric for later that week, and he heard our concerns and gave us exactly what we wanted. Couldn't be happier.In addition to the awesome people that work there, the decor is super cool. They have stickers and pins too. The decor is super cool- tons of vintage furniture with an apothecary feel, beautifully frames sketches, pictures, and photos, and a million little monkeys. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. The shop is super clean and organized. My sister and I came here, hoping to get matching tattoos. We had called ahead and had spoken to Steve, who was very accommodating over the phone. I then emailed 2 rudimentary ideas and was told that it was doable and we were welcome to come in. We arrived about 6, and waited half an hr for Steve to finish up with another client (totally fair). After a full HOUR, we were presented with a design that did not encompass what we had asked for. Steve said he would revise his sketch and we were prepared to wait a bit longer. He came out 10 mins later saying he was unable to draw it. Seriously, dude?? Is that something you could have realized over an hr and a half ago? Or how about 3 hours before when i emailed it to you?? So long story short, we did not get tattooed at all even after waiting for almost 2 hours. I cant speak for the cleanliness or quality of work, obviously.My advice: DO NOT GO IN AS A WALK IN! Read Less

My boyfriend and I went in this past weekend to get tattoos we've been thinking about for a while, and we can't stop talking about how great the experience was. We both have other ink from several different places all around the country and agree this was the best experience yet.I got an absolutely breathtaking piece by Dave Schwinn and I am counting down the days until summer to show it off. I brought a simple design in, and not only did he improve on it, he created a beautiful piece of art for me that  far exceeded my wildest dreams. The entire experience was comfortable, fun, and sanitary (they are very careful with sterilizing EVERYTHING, which is awesome.) My boyfriend got a small piece done by Steve that also came out perfectly, and he is planning to come back for a more complicated tattoo soon. A few weeks ago, I came here for my first tattoo. Initially I came in just to set up an appointment, but Joe went out of his way to help me personally and go over everything I wanted with my tattoo... he was patient and did not hesitate to answer all of my questions. When I came back for my actual appointment , he calmed any anxiety I had and did an amazing job with the scripted quote down my ribcage .... I got a tattoo done by Dave and he is the nicest guy I've met. He did my second tattoo I ever got and the difference from parlor and artists that preformed them were substantial. Dave was accommodating in helping me and my power wheelchair into his area and accepted the challenge to tattoo me while staying in my wheelchair which is easier said then done. I will be returning to him for future tattoos and can't wait. Would and have recommended Hole in the Sky to my friends and family who want ink and will continue to advertise the parlor with the sticker they gave me that I put on my wheelchair. I called this shop to make an appointment with my regular artist who by the way is AMAZING I was told that I would need to come in person and make a cash deposit. I explained that I was already an existing client. The person on the phone insisted if I wanted an appointment I would in fact still need to come in person I drove one hour to leave this deposit. I asked if my artist was in and the person left and someone else came to the front ( I can only assume it was the owner ) He explained that my artist was on leave for several weeks HOW DOES A BUSINESS NOT DISCLOSE THIS PERTINENT INFORMATION IN MY ESTIMATION IT WAS AN UNDERHANDED SNEAKY ATTEMPT TO TAKE MY MONEY WITH NO GUARANTEE OF MY ARTIST RETURNING THIS SHOP TAKES CASH ONLY SO NO RECOURSE IS POSSIBLE BE FOREWARNED. I went with my mom and cousin to get memorial tattoos for my uncle who suffered from Parkinson's Disease. After having a less than pleasing experience at another tattoo shop (Ink Gallery), we decided to check this one out based on the reviews.  I had Dave and my mom and cousin had Joe.  The shop was so professional and the staff are amazing!  We were walk-ins as we had a failed appointment at the aforementioned place, and were  extremely grateful that they were able to make the time for us.  This was my mom's fist tattoo and they gave her a great experience!  We are more than pleased, and will return for future work! I'm very Type A, so before I got my first tattoos, I did a TON of research on different  tattoo shops and artists in the area. Nothing compared to Hole in the Sky (and seriously - I really did my homework). I went in on a Tuesday as a walk in, after emailing back and forth for a bit and being told that walk ins are on a first come, first serve basis, so when I went in I was expecting to at least schedule an appointment. The place is easy to find, and is incredibly clean and sterile, so you know it's a safe place to go. The prices were also fantastic, though with tattoos, price wasn't at all a concern of mine.They took me right away and were so sweet and funny right off the bat. They put me at ease, which I think is pretty important for when you're getting your first tattoo. Joe, my tattoo artist, offered a placement suggestion for one of my tattoos (I got two in one session because they were pretty small), and I ended up loving his idea and going with it. I had Joe copy a drawing that my grandfather had done for me, so it was sentimental and really important that it looked identical. He more than delivered and was very patient when I tried to figure out an exact placement on my arm. I was nervous, and he definitely put me at ease (along with the other guys in the shop), and I walked away with two perfect tattoos and clear instructions on how to take care of them.Worth noting - it is cash only, but if you don't know that and ignorantly hand them a credit card, as I did, there is a 7-11 next door with an ATM.
