Whether it is your first tattoo or your 100th this truly is a professional, clean studio with helpful staff and amazing artists. Four of my tattoos were done at Expressive Ink in Wharton by Kelly Raguso and I could not be happier! The studio is well light and very clean, the staff is wonderful and work with you to make your design your own. Haha I know I have the State of NJ and EVERYONE has one, but I used my Star Level Spin to pin my location in the State so it truly is my own. I recently went to the Wilds in Ohio and had a hands on experience with a giraffe and my next tattoo from Kelly will be of that giraffe from one of my pictures. The best place to get a tattoo in NJ, hands down. If it was possible, I would give six or seven stars. Cleanliness: The shop was been around for a little while now, but looks so new on the inside, you would think it was new construction or recently remodeled. When you walk in, there is a comfy seating and waiting area, where you can relax and look through different tattoo designs. When I was in for my initial visit, I was quickly and politely greeted. In terms of sanitation,...Expressive Ink uses the latest and greatest sanitation tools to ease your mind and ensure a clean and safe tattoo experience. My tattoo artist sanitized everything so thoroughly, Howie Mandel would be proud. My tattoo Artist: I was blessed to have Trent as my tattoo artist. This may be the most humble, professional and most talented tattoo artist in the United States. Before I was helped (during my initial visit), I witnessed an interaction between Trent and a customer who was coming in for a double tongue piercing. Trent asked to take a look at the customers tongue and quickly said he would advise against the piercing as he could hit a vein. He was willing to pass up a sale for the sake of the customers safety. Trent then assisted me, as I told him roughly what I was looking for, and my concerns as a first time tattoo recipient. Trent answered all my questions, made an appointment time with me and made me feel so much more at ease with this whole process. The communication was also extremely effective and professional. If I had any additional questions or when I had to reschedule and appointment, I simply called the shop and Trent knew exactly who I was and addressed everything very promptly. When it came to the day of the tattoo, nerves were high, but again, Trent played a key role in keeping me feeling calm and relaxed. He is so easy to talk to, and has so many stories that you could talk with the guy for hours on end. He made my first tattoo experience almost pain free, and the whole thing was completely very quickly, with no quality sacrificed. I simply could not be happier with the outcome. Trent went over all the aftercare with me right after he was done, and made himself available to me via phone if I had any questions or concerns. Trent is the real MVP. A professional, humble, stand out and stand up guy. Price: A deposit is requested to be put down, and is then deducted from your overall tattoo price. I cannot compare the prices with other shops, but lets just say I was expecting, and prepared, to pay more than I did Verdict: Go go expressive ink in Wharton or Randolph. Just do it. After years of contemplating and thinking about my next tattoo, I finally had an idea of what I wanted. I spoke to a couple of tattoo artists, and they all seemed to be too busy. Most came off as real cocky jerks. After hearing about Expressive Ink and Trent, I decided to make an appointment. I spent nearly 2 hours with him going over what I wanted and looking at samples. He told me to schedule a time in 3 weeks which would give him enough time to draw me some samples. After some minor changes, I had the perfect tattoo. I hope this doesn't hurt his street cred, but he is one of the nicest guys. He took the time to listen to my ideas no matter how dumb and with a smile made all the changes I wanted. My bf and I just went to get tattoos together this past Saturday. We first went two weeks ago to put a deposit down and discuss what we wanted. Place is very clean, the artists are professional and nice, price is decent, and the environment is inviting. We went to a few other places before Expressive Ink, but did not feel comfortable with them. We both got our tattoos done by Luis. I had a coverup done about 2 months ago by Trent. I was covering up 2 tattoos on my shoulder, both darker so we had to come up with something that would work, I wanted some color as well. Decided on a Japanese design with a dragon. We had to reschedule a couple times due illness, but all worked out in the end. Trent was very friendly and helped the session go along well. My session took 6.5 hours, but the time flew by because of his friendliness and ease of our conversation. ...We took a couple short breaks and Trent would ask if I wanted something to drink or eat from the vending machine. Trent wanted to make sure I was comfortable and happy with my experience. His cost was fair and reasonable. I'll start by saying I have only been here once, and this review is more based on my experiences with the particular artist (Kelly) than the shop itself. That being said, a friend of mine had a shoulder blade piece done by the owner (Trent), it is freaking awesome and came out exactly as he wanted.Anyway, Kelly has done 6 or 7 tattoos for me over the past decade (I have 12ish from 5 different artists) and I swear she gets better every time. Sure everyone's tastes for style may be different, but she is an incredibly skilled and versatile artist. She also has 13+ years experience so I don't really know what that rant on only inexperienced artists at this place was about..memo to that dude (who clearly got on Yelp one time in November of 2014 just to leave that review): you don't need to bash other shops just because you have a personal favorite elsewhere. But back to Kelly! Amazingly steady, smooth fine lines and the ability to do microscopic details. For example, the tattoo I got earlier today has a tiny little portion that is literally about the size of the tip of a needle which sounds insignificant, but getting it exactly right was crucial to the authenticity of the design. I.e. if it were off by 1/10th of a MILLIMETER (that's like the width of a strand of hair) it would've been ruined. Naturally, she nailed it. Oh, and if you've ever seen her portfolio you'd know that her portraits look like photocopies. SO again, today was the only time I've ever been to this shop and I only went there because I was looking to get work done by Kelly, but it's a sweet little spot that is comfortable, super clean with nice people who clearly care a lot about what they do. Best experience I've had at a tattoo shop.  Just recently had a collar rocker designed, inked and filled by Stephanie.  The shop was super clean, everyone was really friendly and really delivered on the whole experience.  At no point in the 6 hours (2 sessions) did i feel rushed or coerced into anything i didn't want. Stephanie was my artist and when i told her i wanted a Navy inspired tattoo, she was genuinely thrilled to create it. She had amazing communication in the preparation and design, sending me images of her design well before my appointment.  She took my original artwork and really created something special by, doing her own independent research, cleaning up the lines, adding color and recommending components which would aesthetically, pull the entire piece together. I stare at it everyday knowing, she created something i could only imagine.  I'm thrilled to have this piece and wear it with pride. Probably close to the worst tattoo place to go to for good art in Jersey... Cleansliness they are fine and everything, nice people just not good tattoos... All amateurs there under 3 years experience besides the owner Trent who quite frankly isn't better then the apprentices in my opinion.. His work is sloppy and not top notch for a owner of a tattoo shop, does small bs pieces, no large detailed stuff that a guy that's been tattooing that long should easily be able to do... Want to get a amazing tattoo by a real tattoo shop owner? Go to pure ink and ask for Danny pain, he's a true owner who does some out of the world shit.. Compare his shit to trents and it's not even a question... At all.. Like it's laughable the difference. If you must go to expressive ink go to Kelly... Best one out of the bunch and that's not saying much.. Worst person at pure ink is 10x better then anyone at expressive.. No one under 6 years experience at pure ink. Do yourself a favor and get a real good tattoo at pure ink, plus expressive over charges... Charged me $200 for a 10 word shit on my inner arm... This place is awesome! There aren't that many great places to get tattoo'd around that area, but Expressive is definitely one of them!I went in on Friday the 13th for a traditional Friday the 13th flash tattoo. They had a $13/$31 tattoo special on small TGIF13 flash, so I decided to get one on the inside of my lower lip. Trent, the owner, was the one who did it. He told me all the precautions of getting a lip tattoo (ie: it can fade quickly, they're not that great to touch up, etc etc) and told me how to take care of it. But hey! For a cool $13 tattoo, I couldn't complain! He did a good job and made sure that he took his time, even though it was just a little tattoo with a short shelf life. Trent super friendly and his store is incredibly clean. Every artist thoroughly cleaned their stations before and after each tattoo. I liked their professionalism so much that I later went back and got another tattoo by the apprentice Darci! She was such a sweetheart. She's doing free flash tattoos that she designed, but Trent let her do a bigger, half priced, tattoo on my ankle. She was extremely careful to make sure her lines were straight. It was late, past closing time, yet she took her time to make sure that my tattoo was perfect. They definitely have my business. A+++ to the folks at Expressive Ink! Read Less

Have gone here twice for new ink so far. When I am in the area, (about once a year or so) I always stop here to get something touched up or a new piece done. Trent is a great artist and a very laid back guy. I have been to many shops in many states where the artists are arrogant and unfriendly. I refuse to give my money to places like that, and I can assure you that you won't find any of that at Expressive Ink!
