EDIT: it’s been a little over a week of my tattoo healing, and I’ve experienced some blowout, which I understand can be caused from a few different things. It’s not the worst blowout I’ve seen, but am a little bummed since there’s nothing that can really be done! However, I still think the shop and Ian were great! I just got my first tattoo at Pure Ink after doing tons of research to find an artist! I ended up choosing Ian because I fell in love with his work the moment I saw it, and the experience was even better in person. This was my first tattoo, so I was pretty nervous, but he made the experience easygoing, calm, and was super understanding about it! He also helped my mom decide where to get her tattoo because she was concerned about it being seen in the workplace. I ended up sending my own design in for him to tattoo—he did a perfect job turning my paper drawing into a tattoo—, but his original work is amazing, and I would 100% recommend him. I will surely be coming back for my second tattoo to work with him again! I had the pleasure tonight of getting a tattoo from Bobby. He did a cover up and an original. I have over 30 tattoos and It was my first time getting a tattoo from someone other then my original artist I've always gone to. Two words... SUPER CLEAN. Bobby was an excellent tattoo artist. His work covering and fixing my old tattoo was unbelievably in-creditable. His work is so sharp and the colors are real bold. This place is a rare gem, with equally amazing people who work there! The shop is clean, modern & welcoming. From the moment you walk into the shop, to your consultation, to the actual tattoo itself - phenomenal, and I wouldn't go anywhere else. I got two piercings here from Lou and everyone (the receptionist) was very friendly! He explained everything - type of earring, earring placement, aftercare, and was very open to any questions. Got a simple moderate sized tattoo. No shading, no color. Was quoted 250-300 for 2.5ish hours of work....before having it done i paid 250+fees+tip then 40 minutes later it was finished. I understand the concept of quotes, but as somebody new to the tattoo world, I was clearly taken advantage of.For reference: Somebody I know got 2 hours MORE worth of work done with the same artist for around the same price. I've never gotten a tattoo before and I previously went to another shop for a consultation which was a horrible experience! So I decided to check out Pure Ink and was very pleased! The friendly receptionist helped me book an appointment for a consultation with Ian. When I came for the appointment I brought my 77 yr old mom with me and we sat with Ian in his tattooing room. My mom grilled him with questions & we laughed. He made me feel more comfortable with the decision to get my 1st tattoo. I'm looking forward to going back for the actual tattoo appointment! I got my first two tattoos here at Pure Ink. When I was 16, I went to Lou, and he gave me a beautiful apple tree on my wrist. He worked his hardest to make the experience as painless as possible, and I instantly knew I wanted to go back. The second time I went was even better. He did amazing matching tattoos on me and my mom. It was my mom's first tattoo, and his work on her was amazing. Aside from his amazing talent and beautiful artwork, he is a wonderful person too. I have a somewhat severe stutter, and Lou was so patient with me as I told him what I wanted. As he worked he made me feel better about my speech impediment, and our conversation was heartfelt and warm. He has a great sense of humor that will calm you down as he gives you a tattoo, and he does his best to make getting a tattoo a pleasant experience. My mom and I traveled from New York to Pure Ink both times, and it was so worth the trip. I plan on getting many more tattoos by Lou. Read Less

I came here for my first tattoo and couldn't be more pleased with the experience from start to finish.  The place is immaculate and the staff is very friendly.  I was fortunate enough to land an appointment with Tito who was amazing!  He was very thorough with helping my friend (who was also there for a tattoo) and I work with our designs and tailor them to the way we specifically wanted.  We both changed a few things from our initial design and I never felt rushed during the process, he was very patient and willing to work with us.  Being that it was my first tattoo I was a little nervous and he was great at easing my nerves and made the process as painless as possible.  Highly recommend this place and Tito specifically if you can get an appointment with him! I just got my nipples pierced today. I bought twos Groupons that included the piercing itself, jewelry and aftercare. I called to make an appointment, and I was told to come in anytime. When I arrived, I signed the release and sat down for a moment. I was called into the room no more than five minutes later. My piercer, Bobby G, was awesome to talk to and made the experience stress-free. I also got a chance to look at his tattoo work, which I was very impressed with. I definitely recommend this studio. Got my nose piercing here with a groupon. Bad idea. Receptionist girl was awesome but the piercer was scary, unfriendly and completely ruined my piercing. First of all, he kept rolling his eyes at my friend who was afraid of getting her cartilage pierced. Then he put a HUGE hoop on my nostril which is a big no-no. It was not meant to be a nostril ring. I looked like a cow. It was so bad and I was so embarrassed that I thought of immediately ripping it out. Luckily I found an amazing parlor who was willing to replace the horrendous atrocity with a stud for no charge. I am never coming back here ever again. Read Less

Really clean place and nice staff, but I'm so unhappy with my piercing friendliness doesn't make up for it. The piercing experience itself was great! Very nice to me during, explained exactly what they were doing and I felt very safe. Although, after the fact I wasn't happy with the placement of my piercing. If half a star or no star was an option I would go for that. It all started when an inexperienced artist completely botched my design. The owner was nice enough to fix it for no charge. But now both of my appointments have been canceled. I waited 6 weeks. Just to be told I have to wait another 6 after that, just to be told to I have to wait another two weeks!!!. Trying to schedule an appt is very difficult. Several emails to one artist with the conclusion that he was not available when I was available. He then forwarded me to the general front desk. Spoke to a woman and she directed me to send an email so i did. Never heard back so I forwarded the email again. A woman called me. I tried to schedule an appt having to go back to square one. Absolutely the cleanest tattoo parlor I've ever seen. When you first walk in, you don't think you're in a tattoo parlor, but more like someone's home. Hardwood floors, clean, spacious and numerous pictures of artwork on the walls. I got my tattoo in June by Danny. Super professional, organized and sat with me to help design my tattoo in advance. On the day I was getting the tattoo, he assured me everything would be quick and as painless as it could be. He was right. Even let me know when we were getting to a spot that would be more sensitive than others. He really knows his stuff. I didn't price out getting the tattoo done, but as an average, they are right on line with other parlors. But here, they treat you well and are willing to work around your needs. My tattoo came out better than I could have ever imagined and I was so impressed by Mike's technique and the fact that he kept going back in to add more details and colors, even when the tattoo looked like it was ready to go. I have been to tattoo shops in Montclair, Denville and Boonton and this is by far my new favorite place to get tattoos. The shop is well kept, clean and easy to get to. Even though you have to book months in advance to get an appointment with Dan it is well worth the wait. I was looking for an artist who could do photorealistic tats and looked all over for a great portfolio..Pure Ink's website came up and Dan's work is on point. This isn't my usual tattoo spot so I cheated a little bit on my artist but I'm pretty happy with the affair ;)Anyway, the place is impeccable. It's beautiful, clean, welcoming, relaxed. Everyone that works there was incredibly friendly. I'd never been but went with a friend after we saw a promo on Facebook and figured it was absolutely time we got out high fiving stick figure cat tattoos. (I also wanted some lettering.)Dunkin is next door, so someone left donuts for all to enjoy. At some point during the session, the owner went to get coffee and even got me one, his treat! Super nice. We were there a couple of hours, but not necessarily because it took that long but because Ian tattooed me and though he's younger and new, he has a lot of potential. I'm happy with his pieces on me though I can see how some of his line work needs a little work. I'd likely come back. I've only seen pictures of the other guys' work and it looks unbelievable. I enjoyed his choice of music, too, and how each artist had an individual room. Again, super, super, super clean. Very professional and by the book but still friendly and funny.
