So I've being going to Van for my piercings for some time now, got my rook, tragus, cartilage, and most recently a triple forward helix with him. I was very happy with this piercing but once I got the triple forward helix.. the one piercing closest to the tragus.. literally tore my ear. So what I'm saying is that it was placed very poorly, so it tore. It wasn't something I could prevent, I take care of my piercings. So I'm just really disappointed, he's a really nice guy but perhaps he should have paid a little more attention to placement.Read Less

Van is a great,cool,excellent artist. If you want something extra special he's yourman. I can't say enough GOOD this about him. I found him just by walking in. He used to have someone working for him and he went somewhere else. Good for Van because customers would walk in and if Vance  wasn't seen he could of been in the bathroom  they would RUN OUT. Got my nose pierced here today and the man who pierced it for me is an amazing guy! He knew exactly what he was doing and explained to me what he was going to do. Let me tell you it hurt for 2 seconds and the blood trickled down my nose but it was all worth it in the end! If I decide to get any more piercings I will make sure to drive up to Rockaway, NJ to get it done, specially done by this man! I've been going to Tattoo Zone for a few years now. Van is my tattoo artist, and he has done at least 6 or 7 of my tattoos. I just had one done today, and I couldn't be happier! Van is like a buddy to me, we honestly sat for an hour just talking about life (he's got some pretty dope stories) before he drew up my tattoo. He is professi0nal, and will be realistic about what you want and how it will look. Be open to his suggestions. He takes pride in his work and wants you to he able to enjoy your art forever. I've been to several other tattoo places in the area, and I have to say by far have had only the best experiences at Tattoo Zone. Can't wait to draw up my next piece! Go here. Van is the best! While many other places will just do what you want with no questions asked, he is professional and honest about everything. It's great because he wants all his customers to be absolutely sure about the commitment they're about to make, be happy with what they will have afterwards, and not experience any regret in the future. When I told Van what I wanted, he advised me about the original placement and modified my idea a little bit. In the end, the tattoo turned out perfect and I couldn't be any happier. He also has so many exciting stories and advice, which really helps take the mind off the pain. I've also gotten a piercing done after a touch-up. I told him I wanted the fleshier part of my middle cartilage done and he gave me an even better idea that involved my helix. Despite my fear of cartilage piercings, I agreed since Van's idea was really awesome. I was naturally nervous, but he magically calmed me and made the needle shoving a more pleasant experience than I imagined. The jewelry is top quality, which is great for sensitive ears like mine. For anyone who wants a very well priced piercing ($25 piercing sale aw yeah), this is the place to go. I got a lollipop after as well - best piercing experience yet.The place is very clean, which puts my inner germaphobe at peace. Nothing better than a clean, sterile environment to stick sharp objects into your body at. Plans for another tattoo are underway. Maybe I'll want another piercing too. My friend and I came in today looking to each get a tattoo. Called ahead of time to ask if they were busy or had a wait and was told to come over and we'd be taken care of. We arrived less than ten minutes later and were told by a agitated bearded man that he was busy and the other guy was at the shop. We sat and waited for him to arrive and when he did, we showed him our designs. One was a small piece of lettering, the other a frog. Both were outline only and 10 minute tattoos. We were met with more agitation and he made it clear he thought we were wasting his time. We both have tattoos, me 8 and my friend 4, so we know the drill. He insisted both designs, which again were very minimal, had to be blown up 5x the size we wanted in order to work and the figures he quoted were absurd. My friends tattoo was based off a letter signed by her mother who recently passed away. He used the letter to make a copy and blow up the tattoo but forgot to give the letter back. I had to ask several times for him to give it back to her before he finally went to look for it and found it. We decided not to do my friends tattoo because a simple wrist ink turned into a whole ordeal.  While he was blowing mine up to gigantic (and more expensive) proportions, he asked how we heard of tattoo zone. We told him we live in the area and pass by often and decided to go. As I said, we are well-versed in tattoos and know a bad place from a good. Tattoo zone has been around as long as I can remember and we saw no reason to not go. The real reason we went was because tattoo 46, the ever- reliable shop down the street, was booked and we were on a time crunch due to the impending funeral. While I wouldn't go to a new place and plan a design, I certainly have no issue getting basic tattoos which are displayed on the walls and in the catalogs. As we had planned  He was angry that we picked them and said this wasn't a pizza place and we weren't familiar with their work. That and the $200 price he quoted for the outline of a 4-inch frog was enough. We politely excused ourselves and left. We were also told we couldn't be fit in for several hours despite an empty shot and the previous phone call saying otherwise. Learned our lesson. We avoided that place for years for a reason and judging from the empty shop, others do too. The positive reviews on here are suspiciously personal and I don't intend on returning or suggesting them to friends.Thanks tattoo zone for making a bittersweet experience stressful and insulting. This place was absolutely horrible. I went here with my friend and could not believe the way that this old man treated us. She wanted a smallish tattoo on her pinky and all he did was question and mock her. She had a specific idea in mind and they tore her apart. Completely unprofessional. The only reason that she stayed was because she wanted to get that tattoo that day and didn't feel like going to another place. This dirty old man is lucky that I didn't say anything to him about his terrible customer service. I will never go there for a tattoo. Ever. He would rather watch TV than make money. And the tattoo was sub par. She has to go to the shop that I use and get it fixed. Read Less

All I needed was second holes in my earlobes, but Van treated me like I was some high-rolling VIP customer. It was great. The piercings are perfect, the jewelry is high-quality and doesn't irritate at all, and when I got light-headed after the second one he reclined me back and gave me a lollypop. Greatest experience of getting needles shoved through me.... ever. Plus the piercing sale was on, so the price was right ($25 apiece including jewelry). Thanks guys. Read Less
