I have contemplated getting a tattoo for the past 10 years. When I turned 50 this year, it gave me the push to finally find the courage to do it. Why did it take me so long to decide? I have always been afraid of needles. Plus, let's face it, it's pretty permanent. It's not like you can just wash it off.After researching and visiting a few places, I decided on Revolver Tattoo. The moment you walk in, you are greeted with a smile. Show them what you want by  bringing in the exact dimensions of the picture you want tattooed on you. I got my first two tiny tattoos earlier this year by Ray. This past summer, I went in to get two more done. Ray was supposed to do it but he had to leave suddenly. Another artist, Austin, worked on me and he is just as amazing as Ray. He offered a couple of suggestions and I'm glad he did. He made my image even better. My husband decided to get his first tattoo with me this time. Manas worked on him. Now my hot husband has a hot tattoo. The entire staff of talented artists here just makes you super comfortable from beginning to end. I have no complaint on the pricing. After care is easy as long as you follow the instructions. I absolutely love my new tats! My only regret is that I waited this long.They accept walk-ins for small jobs, first come, first serve. I first saw Austin's work on the shop's Instagram page three years ago, and his style most closely aligned with the idea I had in mind for my first piece; the very first time I met him, he made a great first impression and he was genuinely enthusiastic about the idea I brought in. Obviously, he did not disappoint, since I keep coming back for more. It's awesome to see how his style and skill have evolved since that first piece - I've had strangers compliment his work, specifically his line work and shading. I've referred friends and family to him too, and they're consistently impressed by his work. Throughout the years and hours of time spent together working on my pieces, I've grown to implicitly trust his judgment and allow him to do his thing, and I've yet to be disappointed. I got my first simple tattoo from Revolver in 2009. I remembered how much I enjoyed the atmosphere, so in 2015 when I decided I wanted something else, I went back. I asked who the best artist would be for what I was looking for and was directed to Austin. He reworked the piece a bit so that colors would show up nicely and not fade against my usually pale skin, and it came out flawless. A year later I went back again for something else. Since 2015, I've been back more than 30 times to complete 26 different pieces, and I've gone to Austin every time. If something won't look right on my skin, or if there's a way to make something just look better or cooler, he'll let me know, and I trust his opinion completely, but he takes into account what I like and am comfortable with. He's never steered me wrong, and I've been happy with every piece.Every artist should and does have their own style. I wouldn't want to have the exact same tattoo as someone else, so I always appreciate his tweaks to make a piece better.The business is friendly, accommodating, and clean. I had been wanting to get a scorpion tatoo for the longest time and when I found a piece I really liked I went down to revolver to get the ball rolling on potentially getting it done. The guy at the front desk books me for an appointment with Austin 2 weeks later.   A week before the actual appointment, I emailed Austin a picture of what I wanted. I should have saw this is a red flag since he never responded to me. The day of the appointment comes  And he takes out his sketch which still doesn't really look like the reference I emailed him.  So we go back-and-forth and make some changes to the piece.   We finally settled one and idea which I will say I wasn't too crazy about but he's an artist and hes a professional so I valued his opinion and figured he'd make it look good.  He suggests some additions that would look "cool". We finish the piece and literally the very next day I'm looking at it and  I'm not satisfied. I go back to the shop the next day and tell him my thoughts on 8t and he insists that it looks fine and he insists that if we darken the scorpion it would look bad and tells me sleep on the for 3 weeks and then see how i feel of course hes a professional so I take what he has to say seriously. 3 weeks come and go and the more I have time to look at it and think about it the more clear it  isn't the piece that I wanted and I am not happy with it at all so I arranged to see him yesterday. I come in and tell him how I feel. He tells me that hes an artist who has been doing this for 13 plus years that the design  is good the linework is flawless the execution is flawless etc.  At that point I tell them that I don't really know what to do he offers suggestions like adding something to it but to me it doesn't make sense to add more things around that when the actual piece itself  isn't what I like why would I want to add more stuff to something I don't like? So the conversation continues to be circular and I do admit that I should have spoken up about more things but I trusted the artist.  And the this whole time he seemed personally offended that I didn't like the tattoo. I never criticized his work and the design was not bad. It just wasn't what I wanted and doesn't look like what I asked for. It could have been perfect from every aspect but if it doesn't look like what I came in asking for then I'm not happy.  He continues going on and on about how I should have communicated better and I should have said something but at the same time if someone comes with a very specific piece in mind you should stick to what the customer is asking for.  He tells me that this is his style and he doesn't do anyone else's work had I known that I wouldn't have followed through with it. He keeps telling me that he stands beside his work and that the piece itself if flawless. It's great that he likes his work and I'm happy that the artist stands behind his creations but at the end of the day you did the  tattoo for me I leave the shop you move on with your life and you never have to see me again. But I'll be dealing with this forever, I'll have to look at it forever it's gonna be on my body for the rest of my life so I'm sorry your satisfaction doesn't have more validation than mine.  Especially since I sent emails so that we could have been in communication and address any concerns days prior to the appointment so when I come in I had time to think about what I wanted and we could have really created something nice.  The very last thing I wanted was the come in and still be sketching things and figuring things out. I felt like there should have been a way more thorough consultation process.  Or instead of speaking to the front desk guy about what I wanted and showing him the picture I should have been able to actually speak to be artist. What an awesome and amazing experience getting my first tattoo here! It was my first one so I was a bit nervous and apprehensive about getting it but man do they make you feel so comfortable from the moment you walk in the door. My tattoo artist was Austin and he was freaking awesome. He was really easy to get along with and talk to; he did an amazing job with my tattoo and I'm planning on going back to him for my second one soon. Just called this tattoo shop. Asked for a price for a 1-2 inch semi colon tattoo on my wrist. The person who answered the phone was trying to rush me off the phone & kept insisting to come in. Why would I spend time, money & energy if I know exactly what I want? Also, finding parking in New Brunswick isn't exactly pleasant. Anyway he finally said in a harsh tone "you have to come in for a price". To where I replied "that's a great way to make a customer". Called 4 other places got quotes from $60, $80 & another establishment simply said shop minimum is $100. Kudos to the shops that know how to talk & serve their customers! Quite the shame being that I have a wedding party of 6 that are all getting the same tattoo in the same spot in honor of a friend. Way to lose business guys!! Read Less

I came here for a tattoo for my birthday quite some time ago (about a year and a half) and I'm now looking into tattoo removal. I got an Arabic tattoo from a guy named Steve and it was pretty bad. (Photo included) I came in and told someone that I had an appointment for the tattoo and sat on a bench but it was tucked away in a corner. I waited probably 45 mins to an hour in a shop that was nearly empty to finally be worked on and when the guy comes out to tattoo me, he says that he forgot I was waiting. That really pissed me off but it was my birthday and this was the only thing I had planned to make the day special. I have other tattoos, but as I was getting tattooed, this one burned much more than any other tattoo I'd ever gotten. But he'd already started and it was a small tattoo so, I figured it was just a different gun and that I'd get through it. That was a mistake because I ended up getting a keloid even though I don't have keloids on any of my other tattoos. You can run your hands over my other tattoos and it doesn't even feel like there's a tattoo there. But this one is puffy and lifted. When I got out of the chair, I looked at the tattoo and the lines were much thicker than the lines on the photo we agreed on. It's a small Arabic tattoo that has some detail and because the lines were so thick, those small details are difficult to see. It looked like he tried to write something in a small space with a fat marker when he should've used a sharp pencil or pen if that helps explain it.But despite the lack of customer service on my birthday, the keloid, and my now blurry tattoo, the part that I'm the most disappointed about is that nothing was done by anyone at the shop to help. I reached out during the healing process to explain that something felt weird and I agreed to wait it out and see if anything changed once it was fully healed. I reached out a few months later and got no response. I would have never left this review if they just cared enough to try to fix it or at least tell me what my options are. I had heard nothing but good things about this place so, I was and I still am really disappointed. I know the artists can do better work than this and I feel like they just didn't care that day. I've gotten 3 of my tattoos at Revolver and they've all come out exactly how I pictured them. The staff is so personable and make you feel very comfortable during the whole process of getting a tat from start to finish. They're honest and give great advice about sizing/fonts/etc to make sure what you get looks good not only now but also as it ages. I got my most recent piece this weekend. Joshua was AMAZING! He did an excellent job. It was a pretty painful spot on my ribs but he took care to do the lines in small pieces so the pain was never too overwhelming. I've only gotten one tattoo done here but I was a walk-in on a random rainy Saturday and was done so much faster than I thought I'd be!I had gone to other places and asked other artists about a tattoo of something my friend who passed away had said. Each time they said it'd be fine and gave me a price quote but had to schedule. This place was the only place that was honest with me and shared their concerns about what I wanted. They even offered suggestions so that I could still get what I wanted and it came out perfectly. The artist who did my tattoo was fast and really easy to talk to. Though it wasn't my first tattoo, it had been a long time since I had gotten one done so I didn't remember how it felt. He talked me through the whole thing and kept me comfortable. Since it was faster than he thought the price even went down a little bit! I've also had many friends get tattooed specifically by Ray and all of their pieces came out amazing. Went there for my first tattoo, and overall it's a pretty nice place. It's clean, nicely decorated, and it has good music. Everyone who works there is respectful and professional, and the prices are very reasonable. My artist was Jessica, and she made my tattoo exactly like the picture, despite my frequent twitches. Had a wonderful experience. This was my first tattoo and Manos talked me through everything and made the whole experience as easy and as "painless" as possible. Even though my design was very simple, he made sure that the design was exactly what I wanted. Jess has done multiple of my tattoos and she's a great artist. Always very kind and listens to what you want to get, I would definitely go back to her in the future. The shop is very clean.The only negative about this place is the guy at the front desk. He once made me wait 45 mins when I was the first person in when they opened, then about 8 other people came in after me while I was waiting. He started talking to artists about the other peoples tattoos and helped them before me. Then I asked when he will look at my design and he said "were booked today come back another time." I was hoping to get a tattoo originally at another place but things didn't work out. It's all good so I left. I recall my friendly fellow Yelper Colleen speaking highly of Revolver Tattoo and some friends of mine also mentioned this place so hubby and I drive down for just a consultation. Met Roman (? Friendly front guy) and I showed him what I wanted BUT I needed to modify it and have it with another animal. He refers me to Rayhart Flores. We talked and I showed him my picture and spoke about how I wanted it. "No problem," says Ray and he began to copy, modify and sketch and made more modifications. The man did this about three times before he was satisfied. He came back, showed me what his final product was and I said, "let's go!" He was a complete sweetheart. He made sure I knew every step he was doing and constantly asking if I was okay. Yup, told him I was nervous but I trusted him. To elevate my nerves we spoke about our families and food and where to go to get great food and before I knew it, we were done. Now I'm not going to lie and say it didn't hurt. Ray was so gentle he made it bearable and the finished product was perfect! When I first started I told him it'll be black and skin color. As we progressed, he never ever tried to push me to do anything I wasn't comfortable with. As we continued I decided to add color and he consulted with the colors before he just put it on me. got my nose pierced last year by these people. number one, only time you can come in for a nose piercing is Thursdays during a certain time frame? i thought that businesses should accommodate their clients and not the other way around. whatever. came back maybe 2 weeks later because i didn't know the Thursday rule was a thing the first time. came back on a Thursday ready to get my piercing with my two other friends. number two, piercing cost total was around $100. yes, you read that right. for some reason, i decided to pay double what it was worth hoping to get good service, even though i could've gone to the other piercing shop down the block also on easton, who would've done it for way cheaper. number 3, service was not friendly at all. the woman, THE ONLY PERSON IN THIS TATTOO/PIERCING SALON CAPABLE OF DOING PIERCINGS (???????) was rude, straight up. not sure how everyone claims she's so sweet, she was despicable towards me. i saw her bending my jewelry to fit my nose and i said something like "wow! you can bend that? i didnt know thats how it was done." and she literally goes, with her nasty ass attitude, "im not he-man, am i? obviously i can bend the metal." "ok.... i was literally JUST asking." the woman shut up after that. number 4, no videos allowed while the piercing is taking place. why?... number 5, only one friend is allowed inside the piercing area while youre getting pierced. yeah, who needs moral support right? my roommate sat outside alone. number 6, the woman gives you detailed instructions about how to look after your piercing so it heals properly. she says that if i have any questions or problems, i can stop in and ask. nice! so when i go in maybe 5 weeks after i get it pierced (on a Thursday, remember, only on Thirsdays) because its bleeding and irritated, instead of helping me, she acts like im personally attacking her piercing abilities. she quizzes me and lectures me about how to look after my piercing. i pass her test and she says, "keep doing what youre doing. youll be fine. ive been piercing noses for x number of years, youll be fine." "can you just look at it?" "no." ok, guess ill just be ok with the fact that it's bleeding and irritated despite the fact that i was doing what i should be doing. yeah, thats fine. it's cool i paid so much for such rude service. atleast your customers are happy with the services you provide. oh, wait... I came here for the first time and actually if it wasn't for the tattoo artist who was willing to provide better consultation on how to design a tattoo, i wouldnt even give it a one star. The customer service with the skinny white guy who works in the front is extremely rude. He is by far the rudest guy i have encounter. I went to Revolver for the second time a few days ago so it's time for a review! Revolver Tattoo was actually recommended by quite a number of people, from my co-workers to even my hairdresser. They all had beautiful tattoos so I knew that I'd be in good hands. Both of my visits have been nothing short of perfect. For my most recent visit, I had Josh work on my two tattoos. He was GREAT! Josh has a great sense of humor and is so easy to talk to. He was very patient as we worked on the details of the two pieces. The tattoos, while they had small and simple designs, look great too-- clean lines and perfectly positioned! They are exactly like I had envisioned and I'm absolutely in love with them! They are conveniently close to where I live and read great reviews about this place. Every time I called they answered all my questions and were patient. Great customer service. I had the most amazing experiences at Revolver Tattoo. My first tattoo was a cover up that Chuck did for me many years back. He was a newbie at the time, and the cover up was incredible! You can't even see the original bad tattoo (that I had gotten in The Village). The second tattoo was done by Chuck as well, and the artwork, colors and shading were exactly what I wanted. I absolutely love both of my tattoos by Chuck! Tonight, I got my third tattoo. Austin did this one...it is 3D lettering on my wrist, and I was blown away by his artistic skills as well! He is very friendly, talented and quite gentle with his tattooing. He exceeded my expectations, and I am so incredibly happy with my tattoo. I could not recommend this tattoo shop more highly. I have to say the tattoo artist was nice and we got along well. Really nice guy (austin) but the finished product wasn't what it should have been. I've had 2 other larger pieces done since and now I can also say revolver was way over priced. I wasn't going to go back but was convinced to reach out to the owner who is also a nice enough guy. Communication is lacking though. Takes forever for him to get back to you but he's always very nice if he gets back to you. He agreed to try and fix it but he didn't see anything wrong with it. It's subjective I understand but he was ready to help. I thought it over and wanted to try and have Austin try a new piece. I figure everyone deserves a 2nd chance. The owner was very complementary toward me as to offering him a chance. Well,  i wrote back to Austin apologizing for not appreciating the effort he put in and that I was not gonna mess with my tattoo and risk it getting worse.
