I would give zero stars if I could, since they refused to tattoo me. Here's what happened. I excitedly chose an artist who's work I liked after reading about this Studio's good reputation. I emailed her about my design, we emailed back and forth for probably about three weeks and even had a date set. From the beginning, I stated that I would need a waiver signed for the tattoo releasing the copyright of the image to me. I need to do this because I am an actor. This is absolutely industry standard, and tattooed actors obtain such waivers all the time, easily. If I were to have a tattoo without a waiver it could affect my ability to work significantly because lots of producers don't want to take the risk of a copyright lawsuit should the tattoo appear on camera. After weeks of back and forth, the artist I was talking to began to get cagey about the waiver, saying she has tattooed many actors before and no one has asked for one. She said her manager had absolutely no idea what it was either. But I was willing to work with them! They seemed really nice! So I said why don't you draw up the waiver if it makes you feel more comfortable. After two days of no response, she then responded and said I should probably get a tattoo elsewhere. So um, I guess I will. Also, I literally wanted two tiny 'xx''s tattooed on me. This is like an ancient Viking alphabet symbol, it's not like the artist was making a remotely original design. I highly suggest the manager gets more educated on their own industry, and doesn't make prospective clients feel like they are "shady"  for merely trying to insure themselves against lost future earning potential, on a piece of art on their own body.Would have loved to be one of the positive reviews on here and feel included, lmao, but they literally turned away my business when I had been nothing but positive and excited to work with them. I went for some new ink last night. First new tat in 17 years! I new I wanted something but it wasn't until last week that I got the inspiration and the vision of what I wanted. I reached out to the guy who did 2 of my other pieces Mike Holub but I was told he owns the 2 shops but no longer is tattooing so they hooked me up with Kevin. I emailed some pics of my current Ink, some examples of what I like and ultimately the vision of what I wanted. I got there early to meet Kevin and talk about what I was seeing. Within an hour he nailed it!!! His rendition was exactly what I wanted and I knew it as soon as I saw it! I got in the chair and immediately felt comfortable. The shop was clean, had a good vibe and Kevin & I talked and laughed the whole time so the session flew by and what I was left with was the next piece of art that represents my journey and I couldn't be happier! I just got my first piercing done by Morgan earlier today. I had my belly button pierced and I wouldn't have wanted to go any other way! Morgan was so sweet and extremely knowledgeable. I was extremely nervous for this piercing and she was so comforting and quick about it. After the piercing she explained in detail the after care process and took all of my questions. If you are looking for a perfectionist artist, look no further than Kevin from Evolvink. He is meticulously clean, extremely creative and a talented artist who has perfected his craft. He stays until he is finished - which ended up being 1:30 am for my husband's tattoo. There is no comparison with the detail that he creates with each tattoo, personalized to the individual's needs. Got my cartilage piercing done here about a year ago now. I believe it was done by the owner himself (?). Anyway, I loved the treatment and the atmosphere. He was very patient with me and my friends. Morgan was AMAZING! I am older (mid 40s) and wanted my helix (re)pierced and possibly my tragus. Morgan was very professional and friendly, taking the time to discuss everything with me as much as I wanted and to answer all my questions (including stupid ones like will it hurt and do I have enough cartilage to even do it). She determined that my helix piercing was still open so she pushed through and inserted the jewelry I'd chosen, rather than upselling to a full piercing. She was honest about the tragus and ultimately did an amazing job with minimal pain and a quick but professional piercing so I didn't suffer! I will definitely go back to Morgan to change my jewelry and in the (probably unlikely but you never know) event I decide I want more piercings. Cannot recommend enough! Read Less

I had a piercing done here that is widely known to be in an uncomfortable place/very painful and Morgan was very accommodating to my nerves and was extremely friendly, even when my friend decided last minute that she also wanted a piercing done. It was past closing time, and Morgan was happy to do it for her. She took her time explaining after care and cleaning for the piercings, and she was very diligent about changing her gloves and making sure everything she touched was clean. After my nose stud fell out and closed up within an hour, I needed to go to a shop to have it re-pierced. I was helped by Mike, who was very friendly and easy to talk to, with a good sense of humor to boot. He listened to my issue and assessed the situation, and I could just tell he was very good at his work. After a few minutes and a skilled hand, Mike successfully re-pierced my nose. I let him know that the whole reason why I got my nose pierced in the first place was to get a hoop instead of a stud, but the original shop I had went to wouldn't let me get initially pierced with a hoop. Mike informed me of the pros/cons of a hoop and was more than happy to give me one. After looking at the piercing site, however, he let me know that the orientation/placement of it was too high for a normal hoop. After seeing the look of disappointment on my face, Mike took it upon himself to fashion a larger sized hoop, and after taking out the stud, he inserted the hoop and wanted my opinion on it. I was honest and told him I thought it was too big, and that I would be more comfortable with just leaving it as is with the stud. I also suggested that if the original hole was too high, I would be more than happy to get another piercing lower, as the hoop had always been my end-goal in all of this. Mike agreed that it would be the best option, and he also suggested that I could leave in the stud and have a "double" nostril piercing, with both the stud and the hoop. He pierced my nose quickly and skillfully, and inserted a lovely silver hoop that fit my nose perfectly. I chose to keep the stud in as well, and I could NOT be any more thrilled with the result. Mike also made sure to tell me about the correct aftercare procedure, and answered all of my questions. Additionally, he was super hygienic and clean throughout the entire process, which is something I truly appreciate. Not only that, but Mike only charged me for the $60 piercing, and didn't charge me the additional $10 for the original re-pierce/adjustment appointment I had initially walked in for. AND he wouldn't take a tip!!! Truly outstanding service, and I will definitely be recommending evolvInk to anyone who is considering body modification. Read Less

With it being my first tattoo, I was super nervous but just when I came in for getting a consult about it, I felt really comfortable with them. Great, friendly place. Can get extremely busy but once you get in the chair for a piercing or a tattoo, it's worth the wait. You can sit in their comfy waiting room while you fill out applications or talk to the artist. I got a navel piercing & a tattoo here, & both were a blast getting. After a bad reaction to a cartilage piercing I had gotten at a different place, I came here to get it checked out. I regret not coming here in the first place. I walked in without an appointment and was seen immediately. Morgan was the one who helped me out and she was great. She switched it out to a titanium piece, painlessly might I add, and was super nice and helpful the entire time.Without a doubt, I'll be coming back to New Jersey to get my next piercings done (and perhaps my next tattoo as well). I looked for years for an artist to do a creative yet photorealistic koi tattoo that would really be a work of art. Kevin is a very talented and professionally trained artist... over the last 2 months he has created a masterpiece on my back... incredibly detailed work (we chose a betta instead of koi for the dynamic movement and color) and even tho it's not quite done, I get compliments like crazy. Amazing! I had been looking for a new piercing studio close to home and stumbled across the great reviews here on Yelp while doing my research, so I decided to give Evolvink a try. Now I understand what everyone is raving about!When I entered the shop, I was immediately greeted by a super sweet girl at the front desk (I'm sorry, I forgot your name!) who helped me get set up with paperwork. I sat in their lounge area for probably no more than 10 minutes while I waited for my turn with the piercer. (The lounge was very cozy... lots of plush couches and fun bean bag chairs!) Mike did my septum piercing and he was incredible. He had an enormous attention to detail and before doing the actual piercing, he spent a good amount of time examining the build of my nose (which, to my surprise, is actually quite unique) to make sure that everything would look right. I've had a few piercings done in the past and I don't think anyone has ever been so conscientious with me. Mike was kind, soft-spoken, and gentle. He gave clear after-care instructions when we were done. The whole experience was just perfect. I had an incredible experience here! Mike did my piercings. A year ago I had ripped an earring out and had reconstructive ear lobe surgery.  I went to another shop in the area and didn't feel comfortable with the piercing guy. He said he didn't have much experience with what I needed done. I walked into evolv Friday night and Mike sat with me and checked out what I needed done. This is a long overdue review.  That being said, I went to see Kaitlin while she was still doing her apprenticeship program.  Now, kaitlin has graduated her apprenticeship program and is taking clients full time.  More about her work, Kaitlin is a fine artist and she really delivers a great tattoo.  She is meticulous, professional and super talented.  The shop is super clean and very convenient for someone who travels from out of town.  It's across the street from NJ transit train station.  The staff at the shop are A+.  The gentleman at the front desk is super sweet, welcoming and enthusiastic, which is a mega plus for me.  Whenever I am shopping, at a cafe or salon, nothing beats feeling genuinely welcomed by the staff. When I first walked in here I couldn't help but notice that the place was very clean, and I was greeted almost immediately when I walked in. Everyone there was very kind and after a short wait I was pierced by the owner, Mike. He was so kind and professional and he answered all of my questions that I had. He was also really fun and easy to talk to during the whole procedure which helped a bit to calm my nerves. He also kinda walked me through everything he was doing and he was letting me know what he was about to do before he did it which I really appreciated. I came in with my brother-in-law who introduced me to his guy, Kevin. I wasn't hopeful at all that anyone was going to be able to take my already existing hip tattoo (my ex's name) and turn it into anything i would love. But I was sick enough of seeing the name that I decided a shitty coverup was better than his shitty name. Well, somehow, against all odds, Kevin turned my idea of a wing into a beautiful piece of art. Not only can you 100% not tell it's a coverup, it's proba...bly now my favorite tattoo that lives on my body! I love it so much, I'm eventually going to come back and get my other hip done with the same wing, different colors. Kevin was amazing, I don't even know how the f he did that but I'm super over the top happy with my new improved, beautiful hip art! I came here for my first tattoo with Amanda. I knew I wanted something with a floral design with clean line work so I came here and picked her and she totally delivered. The place is clean, bright with a great layout that makes you feel very relaxed. Hoagie is a very awesome dude who totally puts you at ease during the whole process, from scheduling, distracting you during, and answering all your care questions after. I was impressed by Amanda when I first met her. She's someone who takes her craft seriously and thought about my design in ways that I hadn't even.
