Came in here a few weeks ago to get a replacement nipple bar and to get the other pierced. He freehanded the new piercing, gave me a barbell that was waaay too long for my old healed piercing and screwed the balls on way too tight. I literally can't take it out to change the barbell. When it comes to knowledge on piercings, I don't think I would trust these guys. I've been looking for a surgical steel 22g nose ring (harder to find for a decent price than you'd think) and two times I went into their shop asking for steel, and each time was given a silver one that then started oxidizing less than a week after I put it in. I went back tonight to get my money back, and while I'll give it to these guys, they are super nice and accommodating, they just do not know their stuff. They very kindly gave me a free STEEL nose ring that was supposedly 22g. (I asked him a second time if it was 22g and he said yes.) When I got home, the ring was too big and I could not fit it in my nose, it definitely looks more like a 20g. rudest customer service i have ever received read their contract very carefully because they claim to offer free touch ups but youre actually agreeing to paying for it at your own expense when i called them out on this he rolled his eyes and charged me before i signed then immediately offered me a refund after tearing up our contract and said i would receive it in 5 days. I got my finger tattooed at Village Pop recently and had a great experience. I walked in without an appointment and was immediately greeted by the staff at the counter. The design I brought ended up being too big, but they scanned it into their computer and printed out several size options to help me choose the one that fit best. Before any transaction was made, both the staff at the counter and the tattoo artist made sure to clearly explain the higher risks of fading and blowouts associated with finger tattoos, and had me confirm that I still wanted to get the tattoo after knowing all of this. The tattoo procedure was clean, efficient, and quick. Paul, the artist, was kind, professional, and made sure to open the new, sterile supplies in front of me. He had me approve the placement of the stencil before he started, and he was steady and focused throughout the tattoo. The tattoo took less than 15 minutes to complete. Village Pop is a clean, quiet shop, and the staff and artists are friendly and patient. Decided to get 2 piercings done, snake eyes and nipple piercing. The piercer did not mark my tongue or nipple to then show me and confirm if I liked it or not. I have gotten plenty of piercings over the years and I always get marked and shown in a mirror , is this ok? Then I saw the bars he was using and I said they were too big. The nipple one especially was too thick. I don't have big nipples or breasts. After everything was done, I knew I didn't like the nipple piercing. If he would of marked me I would be able to tell him where I wanted it. Anyway today I had to take out the snake eyes , the bar was way too big for my tongue. So a COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY. Read Less

Village Pop NYC Tattoo staff and Tattoo artists are very unprofessional. My friends and I decided to go on Friday the 13 for $13 tattoos and piercings which ended up costing $40 somehow. They made us pay before we received services. After paying for my piercing the only piercer decides to say that he was not doing piercings, after I had already paid and that I would have to come back the next morning. Long story short I went back the next day and he wasn't there. The manager who is also unprofessional tried calling the piercer and he did not pick up. I came to this place because I was recommended by friends and the tattoos they had gotten here were pretty good.  I went to the shop to get two tattoos.  One in the inner parts of both my pinkies.  The man at the counter was originally going to charge me over $100 for both which I thought was absolutely ridiculous.  I ended up negotiating a price of $80 because I was about to walk out if he was going to keep the $100+ price.  Me and the man found the font I wanted for my tattoos and he brought it over to the artist.  She put the stencil exactly where I wanted it and it looked like it was going to be perfect! Little did I know that she would have no clue how to trace over a stencil or tattoo straight lines.  I wanted the "typewriter" font which is supposed to be thin & precise.  The letters were of different thicknesses when she finished tattooing them on me.  How could you mess up when you're just tracing over a stencil? You just draw over the stencil.  Follow the lines.  I left super unsatisfied to say the least. I came back for my free, 45-day touch-up and low and behold-  it looked nothing like the original! As you'll see in the pictures I'll provide, the "a" in "ca." looks like chicken scratch.  But at LEAST she made the "ny." somewhat similar to the other except I told her to make the end of the "y" straight because she had put a curve the last time when the stencil didn't even have one?? All in all- don't waste your money on this establishment.  I have three tattoos besides the ones I got here and they were QUALITY, REASONABLY PRICED, and taken their time on.  They don't understand the importance of detail nor do they even know how to trace. EVEN WORSE, the men are sexist individuals.  I came in a week after I got my tattoo because it had TOTALLY FADED.  I knew coming in that finger tattoos fade because I have other finger tattoos as well that I've had for two years that are still in tip top shape; but I knew they shouldn't be absolutely gone in just a week.  He told me to come back in a week for my touch up and said "Smile for me".  LOL, I looked at him and said "I'll smile when I get what I want".  When I left after my touch-up, he said "Come back and get another one!".  I responded, "Maybe when I can afford it".  And he goes, "Tattoo my name and it'll be free".  Walked out of that shop, responding to that comment with a "Hell no." I (after contemplating for some time) decided to redo my nipples and since it had been years and the shop I originally went to has since shut down, I drove into the city and made my way to village pop. From the beginning Fahad (hope I spelled this right) was extremely nice and Johnny was very professional and when I tell you I feel absolutely no pain. I had the worst experience here - went in to get a tattoo with a friend (I am female and he is male) and just because he was male, the exact same tattoo in the same spot was going to be outrageously more expensive for him. This has to be the sleaziest place in all of Manhattan and that's saying alot. The staff are professional scam artists who will smile you into the shop and then laugh in your face when you tell them that you are unhappy with their service. I've had two experiences here personally, and have friends in the area who I've talked to since these experiences and they have had only bad things to say about this place.First time was months ago. I got my industrial done. The service was horrible as the piercer was unprofessional, hitting on me as he did the piercing and then being blatantly rude afterwards when I wasnt into it.Second time, a few days ago, I went in here to buy new jewelry for my nose. What a fiasco. Before I paid, I told the guy I wasn't sure the jewelry he picked out would fit my piercing. He said not to worry because he would have the piercer put it on me and if it didnt fit, I could exchange it. He seemed shifty so still before I paid, I asked again about this and he said don't worry, we'll take care of you. Still not certain, I go to speak with the piercer, who is as rude as he was months before. He blows me off. Stupidly, I pay anyway and wait to see if they fit. Long story short, they dont fit and they all act like no one ever said that I would be able to exchange if they didnt fit and that I should call the cops if Im unhappy.. (What?) So I ask for their names and they refuse to tell me! At this point, I take out the jewelry and leave it there. Do not pay attention heir prices thinking you'll be able to easily schedule a follow up appointment for touching up what they "didn't have time to do" she ring your initial visit. And if you expect it because they messed up the colors or could manage a straight line, then you're shit outta luck! STAY AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!Random Saturday night I had decided to get both of my nipples pierced. I made sure I did an intensive investigation/research to finding the perfect place to get them done so I randomly walked in to this place mistakenly.  The guy greeted me & was super friendly so I proceed to ask questions about nipple piercings; how will they heal, what type of needle they would be using, will they be clamping the nipples (just to list a few of the questions that I had asked).  Everything seemed to be going smoothly but 3 things happened before I had realized I wasn't in the correct parlor!! I proceeded to ask him another question, "how about swimming, will I be able to go swimming after I get this done".  I knew the answer was "HELL NO" but I was just wanted to check to see what he would say; for shits and giggles. This guy said "sure you can go swimming in a couple of days"; strike 1.  The aftercare instructions he tried to explain didn't seem right so the guy proceeds to pull out the needles & jewelry so I could see what they looked like.  Tell me why this guy pulls out 2 thick BANANA BARS (curved)!! I immediately was concerned & questioned why where these banana bars used for a starter nipple piercing cause the gauge looked massive to be even placed in the nipple; strike 2. If anyone knows piercings, it is ideal to start off with straight barbells. The last and final red flag was when he pulled out the contract to sign, I looked at my phone to see if I was in fact at the correct place (which I wasn't) & then walks in another woman asking for the same exact thing.  I swear it was a sign for me to get the hell up out of there! I told the guy I would be right back and never looked back... Please please PLEASE do your research before heading to any piercing/tattoo parlor. The tattoo artist John he is a good tattoo artist but he never has time for nobody. I recently got a rib tribal tattoo. As you know the tattooing the ribs hurt so I go the tattoo line work first and then we both decided that I should come back to get the shading done next week. So I come back next week and he said to give it 3 more days. I come back here said you I'm busy you should of made an appointment but why make an appointment if me and you talked about me coming back 2 days ago so he gave me his # to schedule the appointment. I schedule the appointment on the same day for 2 days later. I come back here said sorry I'm busy and I told him that I scheduled an appointment he said I didn't know that was you he then told me to come back in 3 hours I did and he said that we had to reschedule. I came in here for a nipple piercing. The employees there were very knowledgeable, answered all my questions and was in and out of there in half an hour. $30 bucks.My friend got his taint pierced here as well. That was a little bit more pricier for $150. I imagine it's due to the fact that the piercer has to see balls and buttcracks.I even picked up a bottle of poppers there along the way. Was walking to beach bum for a regular tanning session and had had a couple drinks in me when I passed this place... I went tanning and on the walk back, I couldn't resist and walked in. I didn't mind it looks a little "grungy" as opposed to the more "high end" tattoo parlors. It's all about the tattoo artists and they can't be judged by the look of the exterior or interior.Since I went in to just get Roman numerals on my side, I knew it would be an easy job. I looked through different fonts with one of the employees. He was patient and I already started to feel comfortable. Once I picked out the font and size, I went to the back where the art happens.I wish I remembered names. I have to go back anyway to get another two sets of Roman numerals soon, so I will do my best to remember names. The tattoo artist applied the "test tattoo" (if you've gotten any you know what I'm talking about. I don't know the technical term.) I was actually pleasantly surprised he was able to apply it exactly where I wanted it, and I consulted with him first, letting him know I had two more sets I wanted to add so I needed space for them the next time I came back. I love them. A week later, same scenario happened. Instead of getting the other two dates, I decided to get an "S" for my sister Sofia on my hand... Thought it would hurt more but actually felt like a little pinch. This was a different tattoo artist and he was so sweet. He had recognized me from the week before too. That was impressive since many people are in and out of that place all the time. When he applied the test tattoo, he evaluated the placing and we both stared at it for 30 seconds.
