very professional. very clean. but im sorry but DO NOT get a tattoo from Ashley. I had walked in intending on recieving a tattoo from adam or kevin. She cannot do straight lines, or shading. I had drawn a design for a large piece on my arm, to be done in a TRADITIONAL style. After two months of corresponding I believed she would draw up a design that was at least slightly close to my original idea. No matter what style you indend on recieving, she does illustative. I wouldve rather gotten my original sketch than what she gave me. Absolutely no effort was put into shading the leaves or flowers. The tattoo is unfinished, and I had intended on revisiting to fix the shading but I dont trust her at all now. she does the exact same flowers on every single person. Regardless of the flowers i showed her, and ignored the inspirational pieces i wanted to base the tattoo around. on the day of the tattoo, i was surprised to see the sketch since it was SO different than all of my drawings. ALL THE LINES ARE CURVY. whatever she put in the highlight has turned light brown, and is darker than my skin color!!! I wanted a TRADITIONAL 'dead crow'. THIS is what I got. She needs more experience before she makes more mistakes on peoples bodies. i am now corresponding with a coverup artist who i will likely cost more to cover up than the original piece, which cost $650. Bad tattoos.

Disappointed. I was a walk in coming to get a 3rd piercing in my ear lobe. The place was not what I expected pretty small cramped. You sit in a folding chair to get pierced. I walked in and there were a few people ahead of me and someone from the back shouted out to me asking what I wanted done at which point the guy who ended up piercing me looked super annoyed and irritably sighed and said "I guess I'll squeeze you in but you need to give me at least 15 mins" I appreciated him trying to fit me in even though he was clearly perturbed by having to do so. He called me back sat me in the chair and didn't really say much other than asking which ear I wanted pierced. I noticed he didn't clean my lobe very well and was rushing. I asked him to evenly space my new piercing with my other 2 on my lobe and he ended up piercing it way too close to my 2 others so now it looks uneven. He put a curved bar earring in which moves around a lot and irritates the new piercing. I have a lot of piercings and know how to properly take care of them and after following his vague after care instructions and taking care of and cleaning my piercing it still got infected about a day later. 2 stars only bc he fit me in and bc it was reasonably priced. Otherwise I won't be coming back.

I went back to see Nikki and she gave me super helpful advice and her contact info in case I needed to check in again. I also appreciated that they did walk-ins for piercings!

This time I was severely disappointed with the results. The line work is garbage for such a simple tattoo. I'm not going back to the same place that botched a tattoo to get it fixed, so i'll be paying more money just to get the line evened out.

I feel like this place is VERY unprofessional. This place was recommended to me so I went on their website. The website suggested I email the artist to set up an appointment. I emailed them but got no response. I decided to go down there and talk to them one on one but there was a sign on their door that said "closed til 6 PM". It was 1:30 in the afternoon and I didnt have 4 and a half hours to wait or come back. I finally get a response to my email 5 days later asking when I wanted to set an appointment, I responded and til this day I didn't get response back. After no response to my email (waited two weeks) I decided to call and text the numbers provided. No answer, no response. At this point I just went somewhere else. This is no way to run a business

I was also pleased at the effort she took with sterilization. She changed her gloves often and it was clear that she has a lot of experience. The whole process was over quickly.

Had a good experience here! I walked in and right away got a good vibe. You know how sometimes you walk into a tattoo shop and it feels a little dark and sketchy? Not that vibe at all here. It's a welcoming vibe, you can see they are a clean shop. Before I started getting my tattoo done, they opened all new utensils. The man who did my tattoo was very throughout and triple checked with me before starting. Making sure his drawing was exactly correct. He did make a correction or two and he did not seem annoyed or anything about making changes to the drawing. I would for sure come back here for another tattoo or piercing!

Went in for my first tattoo completely terrified, but I knew exactly what I wanted. Showed the last picture to the guys at the shop, they talked me through the process and took me as a walk-in. Everyone was so nice and funny, by the time I laid down to get tattooed, I felt totally fine. Came out EXACTLY how I wanted, absolutely will be coming back! Adam is a great artist and he knew a little bit of background of the tattoo which helped us to get exactly what we wanted. I actually used Yelp to find this shop and I'm so glad I did. All the positive reviews are true. Great work in a great atmosphere. My sister and I were seen as walk-ins on a random Tuesday afternoon. Adam helped her perfect a hand drawn design she'd brought in. In just a couple minutes she had her very first tattoo and LOVED IT! I proved to be a bit more difficult since what I wanted was basically impossible. Adam could have just tattooed the designs I kept coming up with but didn't because he knew that over time they just would not work. Ultimately, the tattoo I got was for more beautiful then the ones I THOUGHT I wanted. So happy I went here. This will forever more be my tattoo spot. In fact, I'm working on my next idea already!

I always wanted a septum piercing but too afraid to take that first step. I decided to finally get it done....because let's face it I can and life is too short to not get what you want! I researched a couple of places in the area and called for pricing to make sure that the piercing I paid for was done professionally by someone with experience and a good amount of knowledge in aftercare. I read the reviews the fantastic reviews about Nikki on yelp and they are all true! Nikki is amazing she is kind, friendly and very professional. She gave me a heads up about the process (the clamp sucks!) but the piercing was done quickly and effortlessly she knows where that sweet spot is! She is extremely knowledgeable in aftercare, she answered all my questions, she accounted space for swelling and my seasonal allergies. Nikki also gave me a token for a free drink at PET shop in JC which was very kind but honestly I have no soreness, no pain and more importantly I'm in love with my piercing. Not in need of any ibuprofen for swelling or throbbing so this experience has been the best so far. If you are looking for an excellent piercer who cares about the people she comes in contact with go see Nikki! You will not be disappointed!

She explained all my wound care with me in detail plus wrote it down and gave me her direct number and schedule in case I had questions. I asked if I could come in and have her assistance in changing my jewelry the first time after the healing time and was totally down with it and gave no issues. Overall groovy chick loved chatting with her can't waiting to get poked by her again :). Happy piercing !! Oo and of course very little pain barely even teared and this was a re- pierce so she broke some scar tissue, like I said nice and quick.

This tattoo shop stood out to me from other shops in the vicinity. I went in to specifically speak with Tom about a tattoo I had in mind for my forearm. As soon as I got there I was instantly welcomed. I am all about good vibes and would have walked out if I got anything less from Jersey City Tattoo. Tom exceeded my expectations. He was in tune with what I wanted and was able to direct me in the best direction with whatever I was unsure about, for example, the font of the phrase within the piece. The piece was extremely meaningful to me and choosing Tom Aversa as my artist was the best decision I made.
Most importantly, the shop was clean!!
Thanks again, I will be back!

The shop is clean and everyone there was very friendly! I came here to get my tragus pierced last week. No appointment necessary and they were able to accommodate me right away when I arrived. I've never had any piercings besides my ear lobes and Niki was super cool and made me feel at ease and informed about the whole process. She even gave me some gum to chew while she did the piercing so that the popping sound would be less noticeable. The piercing was almost pain-free and it's only been a week but it seems to be healing nicely!Overall, this place is a good quality, no nonsense kind of shop and I highly recommend it.

I got a small wrist tattoo and terrivle with needles so about halfway through I began to feel a bit lightheaded. The guys put me at ease and took care of me (water, snacks, let me lie down) Price was reasonable for the area. Wrist tattoo with 1 color and shading was about $120Thanks to Pier again! The service I received when I walked in was incredibly condescending. There was some woman there with pink hair that barely spoke to me, maybe because I don't look the typical customer. She was very rude, and acted as though I shouldn't be there, as though I was bothering her with my questions and presence. I felt completely turned off by this place and this person's customer service.
It made me not feel comfortable to have them inject ink into my body if the person there couldn't even be bothered to have a conversation with me. This isn't a coffee shop where that kind of service doesn't really matter at the end, this is body art and those asking to have art on them from another person should be respected at the very least. There's a lot of trust that a person puts into a tattoo artist and I felt I couldn't really trust them if that's how they treat me.

I've been overdue in giving these guys a writeup. Adam has tattooed me 3 times now, including my first one with 2 large pieces following that, and I absolutely refer to him as "my usual guy" when discussing tattoos without hesitation. Very fast worker, but not rushing or sloppy at all, but meticulous about detail without farting around and wasting time/money. I can't speak for the other artists here personally but their portfolios are all impressive. My first time in was with 2 out of town friends who were both tattooed by Jason and were very happy to the point that one has driven back to jersey from Rhode Island strictly just to be worked on here, so that's something!It's a clean place, the rates are competitive and everyone here knows their stuff, hard to ask for much better.

It's been about 5-6 months since I got it so it's completely healed. It is the worst tattoo I have on my body. I wish I did more research on this place and the person so I wouldn't have such bad ink on me. You can tell by the lines that the girl was heavy handed and just inconsistent. I have 4 other tattoos and some how this hurt the most because the lady was so heavy handed. You can see the scaring. Also the only tattoo that swelled up and gave me some kind of rash and bruising. Have not yet gone back to see if someone else can fix it. But they should offer me a fix with no charge. If not then that is just horrible customer service. This girl was horrible. I had a blonde headed girl with huge lips. This review is only meant for the artist that did the work not the tattoo shop as a whole. Wish I knew to not have her do it though.

I've been here twice and I don't think I'll ever stray. The shop is clean, everyone is extremely professional, and you aren't met with the typical pretentious attitudes of other tattoo parlors. I've gotten 3 pieces done by Jason, who is incredible at what he does. His line work is immaculate and his attention to detail is astounding. I've brought two friends in for work from him, as well, and no disappointment has been met. Bringing in a new friend tomorrow for his first tattoo and a 1/4 sleeve for myself. I would, and do, HIGHLY recommend this shop for all your inking needs. Follow them on Instagram for photos of their other artists, all around their work is phenomenal!

Came here for a piercing--Nikki the piercer was great! Super friendly and very knowledgable; I definitely felt at ease even though my piercing hurt like a b****. The prices for all their piercings seem very reasonable and include the cost of the jewelry. I do want to come back here for a tattoo, but their prices for that are a little steep. Then again, I get better/more professional vibes from them compared to Body & Soul down the street, so I guess it's worth the cost.

very professional. very clean. but im sorry but DO NOT get a tattoo from Ashley. I had walked in intending on recieving a tattoo from adam or kevin. She cannot do straight lines, or shading. I had drawn a design for a large piece on my arm, to be done in a TRADITIONAL style. After two months of corresponding I believed she would draw up a design that was at least slightly close to my original idea. No matter what style you indend on recieving, she does illustative. I wouldve rather gotten my original sketch than what she gave me. Absolutely no effort was put into shading the leaves or flowers. The tattoo is unfinished, and I had intended on revisiting to fix the shading but I dont trust her at all now. she does the exact same flowers on every single person. Regardless of the flowers i showed her, and ignored the inspirational pieces i wanted to base the tattoo around. on the day of the tattoo, i was surprised to see the sketch since it was SO different than all of my drawings. ALL THE LINES ARE CURVY. whatever she put in the highlight has turned light brown, and is darker than my skin color!!! I wanted a TRADITIONAL 'dead crow'. THIS is what I got. She needs more experience before she makes more mistakes on peoples bodies. i am now corresponding with a coverup artist who i will likely cost more to cover up than the original piece, which cost $650. Bad tattoos.

Disappointed. I was a walk in coming to get a 3rd piercing in my ear lobe. The place was not what I expected pretty small cramped. You sit in a folding chair to get pierced. I walked in and there were a few people ahead of me and someone from the back shouted out to me asking what I wanted done at which point the guy who ended up piercing me looked super annoyed and irritably sighed and said "I guess I'll squeeze you in but you need to give me at least 15 mins" I appreciated him trying to fit me in even though he was clearly perturbed by having to do so. He called me back sat me in the chair and didn't really say much other than asking which ear I wanted pierced. I noticed he didn't clean my lobe very well and was rushing. I asked him to evenly space my new piercing with my other 2 on my lobe and he ended up piercing it way too close to my 2 others so now it looks uneven. He put a curved bar earring in which moves around a lot and irritates the new piercing. I have a lot of piercings and know how to properly take care of them and after following his vague after care instructions and taking care of and cleaning my piercing it still got infected about a day later. 2 stars only bc he fit me in and bc it was reasonably priced. Otherwise I won't be coming back.

I came in about a year ago to get a small & simple heart tattoo on my hip. I went to adam because he did a couple of other small tattoos behind my ear and they came out well. This time I was severely disappointed with the results. The line work is garbage for such a simple tattoo. I'm not going back to the same place that botched a tattoo to get it fixed, so i'll be paying more money just to get the line evened out.

I feel like this place is VERY unprofessional. This place was recommended to me so I went on their website. The website suggested I email the artist to set up an appointment. I emailed them but got no response. I decided to go down there and talk to them one on one but there was a sign on their door that said "closed til 6 PM". It was 1:30 in the afternoon and I didnt have 4 and a half hours to wait or come back. I finally get a response to my email 5 days later asking when I wanted to set an appointment, I responded and til this day I didn't get response back. After no response to my email (waited two weeks) I decided to call and text the numbers provided. No answer, no response. At this point I just went somewhere else. This is no way to run a business

I was also pleased at the effort she took with sterilization. She changed her gloves often and it was clear that she has a lot of experience. The whole process was over quickly.

Had a good experience here! I walked in and right away got a good vibe. You know how sometimes you walk into a tattoo shop and it feels a little dark and sketchy? Not that vibe at all here. It's a welcoming vibe, you can see they are a clean shop. Before I started getting my tattoo done, they opened all new utensils. The man who did my tattoo was very throughout and triple checked with me before starting. Making sure his drawing was exactly correct. He did make a correction or two and he did not seem annoyed or anything about making changes to the drawing. I would for sure come back here for another tattoo or piercing!

Went in for my first tattoo completely terrified, but I knew exactly what I wanted. Showed the last picture to the guys at the shop, they talked me through the process and took me as a walk-in. Everyone was so nice and funny, by the time I laid down to get tattooed, I felt totally fine. Came out EXACTLY how I wanted, absolutely will be coming back! Adam is a great artist and he knew a little bit of background of the tattoo which helped us to get exactly what we wanted. I actually used Yelp to find this shop and I'm so glad I did. All the positive reviews are true. Great work in a great atmosphere. My sister and I were seen as walk-ins on a random Tuesday afternoon. Adam helped her perfect a hand drawn design she'd brought in. In just a couple minutes she had her very first tattoo and LOVED IT! I proved to be a bit more difficult since what I wanted was basically impossible. Adam could have just tattooed the designs I kept coming up with but didn't because he knew that over time they just would not work. Ultimately, the tattoo I got was for more beautiful then the ones I THOUGHT I wanted. So happy I went here. This will forever more be my tattoo spot. In fact, I'm working on my next idea already!

I always wanted a septum piercing but too afraid to take that first step. I decided to finally get it done....because let's face it I can and life is too short to not get what you want! I researched a couple of places in the area and called for pricing to make sure that the piercing I paid for was done professionally by someone with experience and a good amount of knowledge in aftercare. I read the reviews the fantastic reviews about Nikki on yelp and they are all true! Nikki is amazing she is kind, friendly and very professional. She gave me a heads up about the process (the clamp sucks!) but the piercing was done quickly and effortlessly she knows where that sweet spot is! She is extremely knowledgeable in aftercare, she answered all my questions, she accounted space for swelling and my seasonal allergies. Nikki also gave me a token for a free drink at PET shop in JC which was very kind but honestly I have no soreness, no pain and more importantly I'm in love with my piercing. Not in need of any ibuprofen for swelling or throbbing so this experience has been the best so far. If you are looking for an excellent piercer who cares about the people she comes in contact with go see Nikki! You will not be disappointed!

She explained all my wound care with me in detail plus wrote it down and gave me her direct number and schedule in case I had questions. I asked if I could come in and have her assistance in changing my jewelry the first time after the healing time and was totally down with it and gave no issues. Overall groovy chick loved chatting with her can't waiting to get poked by her again :). Happy piercing !! Oo and of course very little pain barely even teared and this was a re- pierce so she broke some scar tissue, like I said nice and quick.

This tattoo shop stood out to me from other shops in the vicinity. I went in to specifically speak with Tom about a tattoo I had in mind for my forearm. As soon as I got there I was instantly welcomed. I am all about good vibes and would have walked out if I got anything less from Jersey City Tattoo. Tom exceeded my expectations. He was in tune with what I wanted and was able to direct me in the best direction with whatever I was unsure about, for example, the font of the phrase within the piece. The piece was extremely meaningful to me and choosing Tom Aversa as my artist was the best decision I made.
Most importantly, the shop was clean!!
Thanks again, I will be back!

The shop is clean and everyone there was very friendly! I came here to get my tragus pierced last week. No appointment necessary and they were able to accommodate me right away when I arrived. I've never had any piercings besides my ear lobes and Niki was super cool and made me feel at ease and informed about the whole process. She even gave me some gum to chew while she did the piercing so that the popping sound would be less noticeable. The piercing was almost pain-free and it's only been a week but it seems to be healing nicely!Overall, this place is a good quality, no nonsense kind of shop and I highly recommend it.

Really enjoyed getting my first tattoo here! Pier was very professional and kind. The shop is small but clean and the atmosphere is relaxed. I got a small wrist tattoo and terrivle with needles so about halfway through I began to feel a bit lightheaded. The guys put me at ease and took care of me (water, snacks, let me lie down) Price was reasonable for the area. Wrist tattoo with 1 color and shading was about $120Thanks to Pier again! Very happy with his work!

I had a really bad experience here. You wouldn't know it to look at me, but I have about 15 hours of work on my back. I am well versed with tattoo culture and know what to look out for.
The service I received when I walked in was incredibly condescending. There was some woman there with pink hair that barely spoke to me, maybe because I don't look the typical customer. She was very rude, and acted as though I shouldn't be there, as though I was bothering her with my questions and presence. I felt completely turned off by this place and this person's customer service.
It made me not feel comfortable to have them inject ink into my body if the person there couldn't even be bothered to have a conversation with me. This isn't a coffee shop where that kind of service doesn't really matter at the end, this is body art and those asking to have art on them from another person should be respected at the very least. There's a lot of trust that a person puts into a tattoo artist and I felt I couldn't really trust them if that's how they treat me.

I've been overdue in giving these guys a writeup. Adam has tattooed me 3 times now, including my first one with 2 large pieces following that, and I absolutely refer to him as "my usual guy" when discussing tattoos without hesitation. Very fast worker, but not rushing or sloppy at all, but meticulous about detail without farting around and wasting time/money. I can't speak for the other artists here personally but their portfolios are all impressive. My first time in was with 2 out of town friends who were both tattooed by Jason and were very happy to the point that one has driven back to jersey from Rhode Island strictly just to be worked on here, so that's something!It's a clean place, the rates are competitive and everyone here knows their stuff, hard to ask for much better.

It's been about 5-6 months since I got it so it's completely healed. It is the worst tattoo I have on my body. I wish I did more research on this place and the person so I wouldn't have such bad ink on me. You can tell by the lines that the girl was heavy handed and just inconsistent. I have 4 other tattoos and some how this hurt the most because the lady was so heavy handed. You can see the scaring. Also the only tattoo that swelled up and gave me some kind of rash and bruising. Have not yet gone back to see if someone else can fix it. But they should offer me a fix with no charge. If not then that is just horrible customer service. This girl was horrible. I had a blonde headed girl with huge lips. This review is only meant for the artist that did the work not the tattoo shop as a whole. Wish I knew to not have her do it though.

I've been here twice and I don't think I'll ever stray. The shop is clean, everyone is extremely professional, and you aren't met with the typical pretentious attitudes of other tattoo parlors. I've gotten 3 pieces done by Jason, who is incredible at what he does. His line work is immaculate and his attention to detail is astounding. I've brought two friends in for work from him, as well, and no disappointment has been met. Bringing in a new friend tomorrow for his first tattoo and a 1/4 sleeve for myself. I would, and do, HIGHLY recommend this shop for all your inking needs. Follow them on Instagram for photos of their other artists, all around their work is phenomenal!

Came here for a piercing--Nikki the piercer was great! Super friendly and very knowledgable; I definitely felt at ease even though my piercing hurt like a b****. The prices for all their piercings seem very reasonable and include the cost of the jewelry. I do want to come back here for a tattoo, but their prices for that are a little steep. Then again, I get better/more professional vibes from them compared to Body & Soul down the street, so I guess it's worth the cost.
