I am new to the area, so I did a lot of research to find an establishment that had a lot of positive reviews. I had 3 tattoos prior to today. All of which were young and dumb mistakes. I was nervous going in, not because it's been a long time since I've had a tattoo, but because I was terrified I was going to end up with another one that I hated. That was NOT the case! Tami did an AMAZING job, and I am in love with it. We made our daughter wait until she was 10 years old to get her ears pierced. Since we waited that long we wanted the very best for her. I've been coming here the past few years. Super friendly people who just so happen to be awesome tattoo artists. I know looks aren't everything but the shop immaculate - clean. I've actually left some shops because of it being subpar. Just had some work done by Tami and she's great! So down to earth and easy to talk to. She listens to what you want and offers creative suggestions which I usually follow since she's has an eye for these things. I got a tattoo at a convention last year and unfortunately the tattoo turned out nothing like the original picture I showed the tattoo artist. I spoke to a few tattoo artists and then met with Meghan Patrick. First of all, I love her! She has a great personality and is super sweet not to mention incredibly talented. I had to wait a long time to get in for my tattoo but it was well worth the wait. She did a great job on my semi coverup. I am thrilled with the results and would highly recommend her. Awesome experience as soon as you walk in. Customer service is def on point. Place is clean and they are very experienced. I got a simple tat but bc I'm so picky lol it became more complicated than expected lol. But Tami was so friggin awesome. Twelve Ounce Studios may not be the cheapest option out there but it also isn't the most expensive. I searched online for several months for shops near me in South jersey - I finally chose Twelve Ounce for two reasons:1) The social media and website were consistently updated2) I could walk to the shop (an auto seatbelt would rub the area I wanted inked)While option two may not be important to everyone, it was a concern for me. I was last inked in the late 90s and in a different city and different body location so it had been a while for me. Also, they are easy to access off of US/NJ 130 north - just a few hundred feet north of the Brooklawn circles on Rt 130 north. I had the first appointment on a Thursday afternoon and Tami G did my work. I can not say enough for how great an experience she made it. Not only did she take the simple phrase I wanted to a work of art she presented options I had not considered. The shop interior is clean and 'hip' - whatever that means - and instills confidence..I did have to wait a while as Tami developed art for me and then the stencil but it was time well worth the wait.   Tami also encouraged me to critique placement and size - neither I had an issue with as she has an excellent sense of proportion and location. There was another client in the shop with me as I waited - his artist also consulted several times and listened to what the client wanted and revised the artwork several times. As other reviewers have posted, the private rooms are greatly appreciated.Do check out the work Tami has done on her own self - it is excellent. I will be returning to Twelve Ounce Studios for more work. The staff is personable, creative and professional. You will not be disappointed! Read Less

This place was awesome. The staff was really welcoming and were extremely informative. I went there to get a septum piercing. The person that did it was AJ. When he took me to for the prep he had me sit down and made sure I saw the sterilizing process & explained every procedure.I was really nervous getting the piercing but he made me extremely comfortable. He's also really great to converse with. Everything went smooth. They were really great at giving you a lot of information in regards to the cleaning process and healing. Turns out I cleaned my piercings the outdated way. The total cost was $70 for my septum. It was worth the price and I'm planning on coming back here for piercings and tattoos. Read Less

Meghan Patrick is so freaking awesome! I have had my whole arm elbow up through my shoulder done by her and her detail is absolutely amazing! The quality of her work is outstanding and I get complimented all the time on the quality.She has such a great sense of what my style was and what I wanted and she worked with me through the entire process. I've been to a lot of tattoo shops and I have to say this is the best place. The people are all friendly and professional. I have a endless tattoo project so I've been to many tattoo shops moving around the country. Tami is great there she is very passionate about her work and tries to go beyond expectations and follows up with you if you are going in for several sessions like myself. I like that the rooms are private. I always felt uncomfortable at other shops trying to keep myself covered with a full open room of people around me. The prices are at that medium level where it's affordable but not so cheap that you question what lack of quality you might get. I've had my experience with tattoo parlors and so far, 12 Oz is the best. I have my share of terrible tattoos.  And I figured I should have them covered up by not terrible tattoos eventually.  So I started that process and thank goodness I went here.  The first one to be covered is a koi in all black that was so thick and dark, I didn't think it could be done.  So after a great consultation with the artist Tami Getzinger, she designer a beautiful half sleeve for me that covers the entire awfulness in a lovely, colorful bird and flowers.  It healed wonderfully and I'm so proud to show it off.  I will be a repeat customer, ten times over. I've been to 12 Oz. two times. Once for a piercing and once for a tattoo.For my piercing I went to the Deptford location and had an awesome experience. It was awkward at first because it was my first walk in for a piercing besides my ears which was when I was a baby. Anyway, AJ did an awesome job, he's always nice and welcoming and answered all of my questions- and I'm a perfectionist so I wanted all the information I could get. I got a hoop in my nose and everything went well, when I went back a few months later to change to a stud for work he was there and changed it for no extra charge other than the stud.A few months later I scheduled an appointment for a tattoo I was going to get on my upper arm. I had an appointment which was cancelled the day of by the shop  because of something personal with Brendon (Brandon?), which was understandable- things happen. It took me a couple of weeks to reschedule but I got a new appointment and had the same artist. It was really awkward at first, but maybe it was just me. I went with my boyfriend and he chatted up a storm but I just kind of sat there.I had a tattoo that I designed myself, two different celtic symbols intertwined with my own color ideas. I told him what I wanted, just wanted him to clean it up a little because I wanted everything spot on, and I can't really tell if he did that or not. I told him I was open to any ideas if he had any, because I know some artists like to put their own twists but he didn't seen too interested. Color wise I like it for the most part...I wanted light and dark green with a yellow gold around the edges, and he did that but also put some yellow in a place that I didn't really expect it/ or want. So even though I really love the tattoo, I don't know how I feel about that part- but it's light so I could probably get it fixed if I decide I want to. That's just nit-picking though because it was my first tattoo.I would go back, maybe just try to be a little more clearer with what I wanted. I recommend! My tattoo was about $250 including tip. 12 oz. Studios is top-notch when it comes to tattooing and piercing. AJ pierced my rook back in July (he's at the Deptford location now) and it was really a great experience. The entire shop was immaculate and all the staff were very friendly. AJ is extremely professional and skilled at what he does, but he also has a great way of making the customer feel very comfortable. He explained everything he was doing, used sterile equipment right out of the packaging, and pierced me quickly and almost painlessly! It is obvious AJ really cares about his craft, and he's got the portfolio to prove it. He educated me on my new piercing and piercings in general, and made sure I did not walk out of that shop without knowing exactly how to care for it. Seriously a truly talented guy. Also, they have a great selection of high-quality body jewelry and everything is fairly priced.I have not personally experienced the tattoo end of 12 oz, but I know plenty of people who have. I have already had a tattoo done here a couple years ago done by Lara Slater. I am happy with the tattoo with one exception, but overall, she did a good job. I recently went back and had my appointment with Meghan Patrick who's work I admired and tried to get her to do my first tattoo but she was already booked. I booked ahead for this tattoo and had my first sitting with her last week. She's doing a Buddhist themed shoulder cap tattoo for me. We completed the outline and it looks amazing. She's extremely detailed oriented which is great because she's not going to rush you through something that she's going to put "her name" onto. Tattoos are forever so you want someone like Meghan who's going to care about the work that she does. I have another sitting coming up to start the color and I can't wait. This is a great custom shop! All of the artists do amazing work but I personally see Meghan. They are very professional without being stiff. The shop is extremely clean. The manager Denise is helpful and sweet. If you are looking for a work of art on your body this is the place. I see Lara and she is an amazing artist. She did both my forearms... love it! I also have a friend who sees Meghan and wow shes amazing as well. She has done two cover ups on her and they are phenom. There are 4 tattoo artist and it's by apt.
