I've gotten a few ear piercings before and i had to say that this one was probably one of the more painless/bloodless ones. Also, it was nice to have someone being so thorough and in a general good mood. If it was my first time and i was nervous or had a bunch of questions, no doubt they would go over them with me without a rush. Clean shop with experienced artists, a bit more expensive than most shops in the area. There's 1 artist in particular that creeps me out; Johnny- This guy always looks like he's in a bad mood and displays signs of bipolarness. One minute he'll look like he's getting severely annoyed at something trivial and the next minute he sounds like a jolly little lad who's having a great day. Creepy much? I got two tattoos performed today. I didn't have an appointment, I was waiting on the artist to finish the gentleman before me and he didn't take too long with them or so it felt that way. I didn't catch the guys name. He was super friendly and informative. This is my 5th tattoo that I got done ever and the guy was great! He had clean and crisp lines, he made sure he cleaned everything and was super sterilized when I sat in his chair, the place is spotless, he had music playing, and I didn't feel nervous. I'm from Illinois and went to Lola's while visiting New Jersey and New York. I asked my brother where I could get a tattoo done. He took me to Lola's Tattoo. My boyfriend and I both recently were tattoo'd here. Charlie did an amazing job on my bf's first tattoo, black and gray realistic engraved flintlock pistol with two roses on his inner arm. I went to Johnny for a coverup piece on my ribs. He was absolutely amazing. He changed his design a couple of times just to make sure it would cover up what I had perfectly. So happy to show off my new tatt, two beautiful dot work roses. You can't even see the tattoo that was there at all.... He was so kind and funny. He was patient with me as apparently, my pain threshold is not very high. He was so accommodating in allowing me to come back in three separate sessions to get the piece completed. Came in to have my nose ring looked at because it needs to be taken out. I had my nose pierced several years ago with a nose bone. All good... until you want to take it out. They have balls on each end and my nose had closed around  the post making the hole smaller than the inside ball. I had been wanting to switch it to a screw post and finally had the time to do so. I dropped into Lola's and Dan was able to get the bone out with zero hassle and then replaced it with a screw post. It looks exactly the same and you'd never know I swapped them. When you go for a tattoo you want to make sure what you're putting on your body is going to be something worth being there forever. Now these artists not only have gifts but they are also some of the nicest people I've ever met. They will answer any question and the owner is EXTREMELY patient. They will work with whatever art you want because they love what they do. On top of all of this Lola's has some of the highest standards in sanitation compared to some of the places I've visited. Nothing or nobody is perfect but everything is perception and the art work these guys have is perfect to me and I can't wait to start my sleeves and would like to come again and again as I wouldn't wanna be inked by anyone else. Remember what you're paying for you're not just paying for sanitation and responsibility, this is a talent that very few can accomplish and not only do these artists accomplish, they go above and beyond your expectations. I'll never forget walking in there when I was 13 way too young but wanted a tattoo, the owner said wait a few years and come back but he was very polite about it, he did not throw me out of the shop (like others have).I am now 18 and I cannot believe I'm getting my body art done by the same people. A very tough place, with a manipulative salesperson who tries to convince you to do what he thinks, right away, so he can make fast money.  I was actually told by him where and how to have my tattoos done, after I showed him where I was considering.   I made my own mistakes, but the sales staff was insensitive and very pushy.  He actually said when I hesitated, "Oh you're paying now, and having the tattoos done today."  In hindsight, I should have just walked out then.  He talked me into getting the small tattoo I had asked for larger, and told me to outline it, too.  It was my first time, and I naively told him that.  He followed me around the store, trying to sell me tattoos, and was disrespectful of my own wishes for my own body.  I would never go into that store ever again.  Always bring someone trusted and outspoken with you when you go to get a tattoo, and if the sales staff is giving you a hard sell, like happened to me, walk right out! My wife and I have both have had our original designs tattooed here. It's a beautiful shop has a retro style. I have seen many friends have their art tattooed here and all have turned out amazing. While Lola's is incredibly clean and professional I feel the prices are a little outrageous paid $50 for my nose piercing which I thought was a little high but the piercer was extremely professional when it came time to change my nose ring he offered for me to come in and he changed it free of charge. I went in there to get my nose pierced yesterday and I was very nervous. the piercer noticed my discomfort and talked me into feeling a lot better and WAY more comfortable. he walked me through everything he did. the pain level was way less than I had anticipated, rating it at a 1 out of 10. very professional place. looking forward to getting my first tattoo the end of the month here. only place and piercer I will ever go to again. :) Read Less

Came here for my first tat at 16 and have continued to get my other tats here. I won't go anywhere else because I trust Lola's.  They have a wonderful, friendly staff and fantastic artists. Place is always clean, too.  I always suggest Lola's to friends looking to get tattoos, it never disappoints!  And to the reviewer who said his friend was bullied into getting a large tattoo on her hand....no one MADE your friend okay the piece.  She probably timidly okay'd it and then complained later on when she realized she should have been more firm. My friend went to this place for her first tattoos and had a horrible experience.  She was alone, and she was interested in learning about tattoos and seeing what this store had.  The owner bulldozed her into getting a larger tattoo than she had asked for.  The tattoos were on her hands, and the owner had no right to hard sell her to get a big tattoo, in a place she had not requested, and even told her to get it outlined!  The artist was nice, she told me, but now she has to live with this big tattoo right in the middle of her hand, which she never said she wanted.  She asked for a tiny tattoo on the side of her hand, and the owner said to her, "Oh no, you want it  big so everyone can see it!  You want it outlined, too."  Then he insisted that his artist do the tats that day, and that she pay upfront!  She was depressed, which is why she was investigating it alone, and he took hard advantage of her vulnerability.  Now she has to live with tats which impair her work in a hospital, and she is scared for life. They gave me a crooked cross that will have to be found covered up. The tattooer has an extremely heavy hand and I was bruised for almost a week after. Pretty sure it was a bit infected too since the spot was red and hot. Luckily I put ointment on and it got better.  Owner tried to tell me that the crooked cross was my fault but last time I checked I wasn't a tattoo artist. Such a shame but I won't be coming back. Avoid this place. the set up is weird too...sitting on folding chairs are not ideal when getting tattooed. There are much better places around like shotsies or scott hill tattoo . I had two very different experiences from lola's from the same tattoo artist strangely enough.  The first experience was my first tattoo and it came out absolutely incredible such color and detail and the price was unbeatable in any sense.  Because of this I decided to come back to get another tattoo and it was my worst tattoo experience I had the same artist to do a tattoo on my arm now with the first piece he did he worked it exactly they way I wanted it and more it came out amazing.  The second he re worked it and it was no where near my original image but I decided to listen to him since he knows better.  Not only was I know pleased with the tattoo as he did a very bad job at laying down the lines and outline of the tattoo but, when I came back to have the rest of it finished and filled in he gave me some crazy high price.  I explained to him you quoted me 600 for the whole tattoo.  And charged me 300 for the first session and now he wanted to charge me 150 per hour to finish it with about 4 hours of work I said that's not acceptable as that's 300 more then you quoted me he said sorry I left and never went back.  Had that experience never happened and I didn't have to go to another shop to finish it they would have much more business from me and the people I know. I think from my experiences you really can't complain about the price if you want quality and Charlie has provided me nothing but quality and consistency. He allows my artistry to mix with his and we usually brainstorm some really cool stuff.I do agree with the one reviewer.. the chairs there are uncomfortable especially if you're getting 3 and 4 hour pieces a sitting. Other than that, cool staff, really laid back. Ask for Charlie he definitely is a great artist and friend now after dropping a couple of g's last year on ink. More to come in the future! Read Less

had an infinity tattoo done by johnny. The original stencil looked great and had an open flow in the middle, when he was almost done he said he wanted to "shade the middle a little". I looked down and it was a thick solid black line, and pretty shaky. Kind of rough lines. definitly would not go back or recomend him. . Read Less

Would be a 5 star if the chairs were more comfy. Sitting on a damn folding chair for 3 hours is murder on the back.Aside from that, very nice crew, Curt is a beast, he's done 2 out of 3 session of a cover-up for me, i'm looking forward to having him finish it. My boyfriend got a tattoo by Johnny and he is awesome!! So of course I went to him for my cover up of a botched tattoo. He is such a pleasant guy and he did such a great job on my peacock feather. It was so much better than expected. We discussed my concerns and my expectations and he exceeded beyond that. I'm so happy with my new tattoo. And I'm definitely coming again soon for a new one.
