I went here to try to get a pentacle, a Pagan symbol of nature because, well it was almost literally across the street from where I lived. The guy working said "Oh, we don't do THAT symbol here." I was just there 2 days ago and the man who was in there (asuming he was the owner as he was the ONLY person working) was the most condescending, arrogant, cocky SOB I have ever met! I brought in a picture that my nephew had drawn for me of a sun. The prick looked at it and proceeded to tell me he "has better pictures" than this one! PISSED ME RIGHT OFF! Not only that but he wanted to charge me an outrageous price! I decided to get something else......when he sees what else I... wanted, he flat out refused to do it and told me that if it was what I wanted I would have to get it done by one of the "heroin addicts " at another shop. Who the fuck says that shit? He continued to bad mouth all the other shops in the area! Anyway....i left and went to Jims tattoo not to far from there and had one of the best experiences ever! Got exactly what I wanted and at a much better price!!!! Will never step foot into tattoo America ever again!!!! Only gave 1 star because I had to......doesnt even deserve that! Been going to tattoo America since I was 18. Went in yesterday and got a Patriots tattoo for the big game today. 22 years later and the place continues to Rock and Roll. Prices are right. They will tell you what you may or may not want to hear but they are looking out for your best interests! Perfection is unattainable but they will get you as close to it as possible. My husband and I made an appointment to get tattoos after going into the shop to discuss what we wanted in detail with Dawn. She seemed helpful and made suggestions as to change up our idea. She was a little pushy with what she thought we should do but I thought she was just making sure we got the best quality tattoo. I had to find the artwork I wanted online and send it to her via Facebook which I thought was odd but okay. When we came in, the drawing she gave us for my husband tattoos wasn't what we asked for. The placement of the name was in the wrong place. Dawn was completely offended that my husband wanted her to change it. She reminded us that her "artwork" should be billed at $120 an hour but she did it for free...Okay. The artwork was done on the computer. She also had the spelling of my husbands name wrong on my tattoo even after I sent her the spelling on facebook. My daughter came in with us and wanted to see if she could get a very simple tattoo (in honor of my battle with breast cancer). It was a heart with a breast cancer ribbon on the side. Dawn warned her that the pink color she wanted for the ribbon (without a black outline) may spread over time. The design was very small and simple and my daughter really didn't want the outline. She was discussing it with my husband. He said "don't worry about it if that's what you really want. I've seen it before...you might need to fixed after time.". My daughter understood Dawn's advice but wanted to do it anyway. She's the paying customer, right??? WRONG. When STEVE finished with the customer ahead of us, he called someone else over to the chair. Then he YELLED. Yes I mean YELLED across the tattoo shop, "I'M NOT INTERESTED IN YOUR BUSINESS! YOU CAN GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!" We were completely confused and embarrassed. When we asked why he said it was because he doesn't do business with people who "think they know more than we do about tattoos"! Dawn stepped in and said he overhead what my husband said about my daughters tattoo and thought it was very rude and disrespectful! UNBELIEVABLE! My husband tried to ask Steve how exactly his comment that my daughter's tattoo would be okay they way she wanted it if that's what she had her heart set on RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL???? He wouldn't even look up at my husband. These people have GIGANTIC EGOS and have no interest in being polite to customers. Dawn and Steve want to churn out their "artwork" on the computer and have no one question them whatsoever. The customer doesn't have the right to have an opinion even though they are paying for the tattoo. By the way, we went down the street to Jim's Tattoo. Everyone there was POLITE and FRIENDLY and PROFESSIONAL. My daughter got her tattoo the way she wanted it. Jim's was professional and advised her of what could happen to her tattoo over time. If you want quality work by trustworthy, clean, and knowledgable artists go to Tattoo America. I am covered with there work, and more than once I have complemented people about there work only to be told tattoo America did theirs to. (no surprise). Both artists are cool guys to talk with while getting your work done and they genuinely care about what where and how you want your tattoo. They care more about their quality in workmanship than just stamping u with any old shit just to take your $$. You will get an honest opinion on the placement, size, and style of your tatt ideas and that to me means everything. These guys are true professionals who's word should be held in high regards when it comes to their ideas. I have used other artists from other parlors as well so i am not biased in just promoting the one and only tattoo parlor i have ever been to. Anyone who has tattoos always feels "their artist" is the best and will always push others to go to "their guy". If I could give zero stars I would...On vacation I decided to try tattoo America out for a 4th tattoo.  Upon walking in to a completely EMPTY  shop, I was greater by who I can only assume was the owners daughter ( who was all of 16) who couldn't have cared that I was there and went back to texting on her phone after calling over the tattoo artist. He looked at my image and told me it couldn't be done-- and that he was "taking a break right now "... Basically he didnt  want to do a smaller tattoo. He was condescending and rude! I walked out and would NEVER GO BACK AGAIN!I ended up at Jim's down the road and they were AMAZING! The work was done correctly - took all if 10 mins and the staff was sooo awesome. Worst client relation and overall attitude.  Upon walking in to Tattoo America, I was greeted by a not-so-thrilled attendant.  She asked what I wanted, I showed her a picture.  She said that it wasn't possible and to come back with just a black and white picture they can just copy.  At this point, one of that tattoo "artists" came out and told me that my tattoo just wasn't worth it.  That he could crank out two in the time it took him to draw out mine and then tattoo it.  WORST experience!  However, I immediately went to Jim's Tattoo down the street!  They were courteous, kind, and professional.  I walked out within the hour with an originally drawn tattoo by and amazing artist. I've gotten all my work done here, and it's the only place I'll ever go. The lines are fantastic, so straight. Steve is honest too. I went in and showed him my idea and he straight up told me that the quality wouldn't come out as good as I hoped for and that he didn't want to do anything that would be less than quality. We worked together to come up with another idea that I absolutely love. I'm not sure what Bethany is trying to say in her review, all my work looks fantastic and none of them are tramp stamps. I haven't had any experience with Scott, as I've gotten all my tats done by Steve. He took the time to work out with me exactly what I wanted, positioned it on my body and made sure it was perfect in my eyes. When I got my first tattoo, he explained what would happen, how it would feel, and what to expect. My first tattoo did not hurt whatsoever and was less nerve-racking than I was expecting. When I go in now he talks to me while I'm being tattooed to calm my nerves. When I got my rib piece done he would explain which part he was working on and what kind of needle he was using, whether it was for shading or outlining. He let me take a little break for lunch to keep my blood sugar up and continued to work. He's very honest and upfront, and the shop is always clean. I feel like I would be cheating on them if I got my work done elsewhere. His rates are fantastic for the work that he does, and he's been tattooing for 25+ years. When I got my first tattoo, I asked randomly inked people where they had their beautiful work done, and more than half pointed me towards Tattoo America in Seabrook. First off, the place is clean, it isn't like one of those dungeons with shit strewn everywhere, and piles of unorganized crap leaving you with little room to get work done. It prides itself on a hospital-clean work area, and it delivers on this promise.I've always picked my art at home off original work or the Internet, and Scott has never had a problem transfering that image perfectly directly on my body. This is the number 1 place I recommend to get a tattoo.The guys that own it are brothers and have been tattooing for over 20 years.  It is a family business and they are good at what they do.They have books upon books of all their work, plus the walls are covered with their work as well.  I got my second tattoo there, my bf got his first, and my brother will be getting his second one there.There hours are 12-7 year round and they have off season prices (the fall/winter months) where all the prices are basically half off.It's so worth it for me to travel to the next state for an awesome tattoo Read Less

I got my first tattoo here at the tender age of 18. The guy who performed the deflowering of my virgin skin was quick and clean. I have no idea how they are running the show now but I am sure that tramp stamps keep them in business on Canal. Find a tattoo artist with a MFA -- that's my advice. Read Less
