I had the pleasure of spending a few hours with Dan today and let me tell you, this guy is an incredible artist. I don't know what that other yelper was on about, but the Dan who did my hand tattoo was extremely nice. Wicked chill dude! I could tell that he cares deeply about his work. Joe was recommenced to me and I reached out for something not realistic in regards to placement which he very nicely pointed out to me. We talked about other options and my vision. Emailed to discuss further and I provided pictures so we were on the same page. I was excited and Joe was so great, it's not easy to feel at ease for 2+ hours with a bit of a stranger but he is super nice and helps you chat to pass the time and deflect from the situation. I've had plenty of tattoos before but this was probably the best experience regarding passing the time. Our first session was an adult gator on my right foot. In less than a month I was back to get a couple baby gators on my left foot. Neither were a usual style for Joe but he did a great job and I couldn't be happier. **DAN** treated me HORRIBLY. Most brash out of line disrespect I've ever encountered all because after ONLY 5 MINUTES of me sitting in his chair discussing where I wanted just a few dots and lines than an inch in length, he said "I haven't eaten today and your indecisiveness is the problem" it wasn't just his words but his bodily reactions tossing his hands up as if I was some pain in the ass made me uncomfortable AF. I felt attacked with a shaking feeling in my body I was so thrown off by the disrespect for only wanting to discuss and be percise of the small project at hand- after all it IS on ME forever.. My response to him was "I work all day too and I don't treat people this way" I  gave the shop a call same day and told them I just needed a few dots and lines extended - ( I will attach a photo) - it should have only taken 20 mins - they told me sure come on it let's look at it we take walk-Ins. Came to the shop at 130 and made an appointment to come back at 5....I spent my day finding something to do until I could come back. I am not from the area. there was no way I'd be able to sit there no matter how much I wanted this done before I leave for a trip this weekend. A job is a job and what I was asking was SO SIMPLE and I was met with harsh unprofessional  behavior. I will say, the young man at the desk who I signed my paperwork with was super nice ....if only that "artist" was the same. One other artist offered to help me but not for another half hour.. I almost stayed but I felt myself start welling up and just said FUCK IT and dipped. **Ladies** hold your ground and don't let anyone you are paying to do a life long service on you make you feel UNCOMFORTABLE to say the least.. take the time, find the right artist who cares about your words and vision... oh and who has also had their lunchable for the day. Unfortunately,  I was forced to give this place a minimum of 1 star,  but if it would allow 0 stars, that's what I would choose.  My friend and I went here, after reading all of these seemingly rave reviews of their service and talent.. We were excited, as we planned to get matching tattoos (on the smaller side, not huge, with 2 colors).. When they told us it would be a whopping $130 per tattoo, we had to regretfully pass on getting them that day since we thought, at the most, it would be about $60 (which it is nearly EVERYWHERE ELSE.. I price checked many other places afterwards, believe me). So naturally, they offered us the option to make an appointment, but a $60 cash deposit was required to do so.  We stupidly agreed and made an appointment for FRIDAY July 6th at 12:30 PM (I have a picture of the appointment card as proof).  Well, as "luck" would have it, we ended up needing to reschedule due to work conflicts (life happens). They do not open until 12pm, so my friend called to reschedule as soon as they opened and they tried to tell her that it was scheduled for Thursday and that it was technically a "no call no show".  She thought maybe we read the card wrong, but she double checked the card after she hung up with them and it was definitely written down as 7/06 @ 12:30 pm (which is a Friday, not a Thursday.. Guess someone needs to get a hearing aid at such a young age.. so sad). She rescheduled the appointment for a couple weeks out for another Friday (we could only do it on a Friday.  We would NOT have scheduled for a Thursday) , which ended up not working out because she works for a leasing office with limited staff, so if they call her in, she HAS to go.  I called this time basically apologize profusely for being a pain about it, explained her working situation and they were clearly pissed off.   They suggested just walking in instead of making another appointment, to which I agreed,  given the circumstances. When I asked if the $60 would still be held and put towards the total cost of our tattoos, I was told "Oh, that's gone now.  You've been a no call no show twice now, sorry.." Um, excuse me, what? We had called in the appropriate amount of time, given the notice she received to go into work, but because THEY clearly don't know how to manage their appointments appropriately, WE lost out on our $60. I do not have $60 to waste on some kid's inability to log appointments on the right date.   I will be reporting this to the BBB and I strongly suggest you all take your business anywhere else but this place.  The service sucks, too.. absolutely no sense of humor with these guys.. They made us feel uncomfortable when we were originally so excited about our tattoo idea.. I, luckily, found an awesome artist who drew up our design ten times better AND is charging literally HALF the price for the exact same size tattoo and amount of colors.  So disgusted with how this place treated us and I sincerely hope that no one else ever has to experience their horrible service or has money stolen from them. I went to Jim's on Saturday to get my tattoo updated. I was scared out of my mind from my first experience many years ago. The man that greeted us was friendly and extremely helpful answering all my questions until I felt comfortable having it redone. Joe was my tattoo artist and was so sweet and kind through the entire process. At least 5 times he asked how I was doing and was willing to have friendly conversation as he  worked. My tattoo came out exactly how I had wanted it to. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a tattoo. Read Less

Went in for a simple tattoo. The older man that greeted us was nice and eager to help. The guy who ended up doing my tattoo was Dave. When he finished it was just an outline. I asked if he could shade it a little. Big mistake. Now that it's healed it looks blown out and very old. I have tattoos that are 10 years old that look brand new. I came across Jim's when on holidays visiting my sister all the way from Calgary, AB, Canada. My sister and I aren't the most adventurous, but we really wanted to get a tattoo together. That being said, it was important for us to find a place that was clean, made us feel comfortable and confident with our decision. Right from the get-go, we were greeted in a friendly manner, and we were told that our simple tattoos would only cost the shop minimum. We were both thrilled to know that we were given a reasonable and fair price. Even more so, my tattoo artist informed that placement on the ribs usually cost more but wouldn't charge me. Also, it was a friendly environment so much so they were comfortable having my one year old niece hanging around in the shop while we both had our tattoos completed. Brandon did a phenomenal job on my sisters Roman numeral tattoo and made it the perfect size. He even touched up her other tattoo free of charge. When it came to my turn, Dave was also a true professional and ensured I was comfortable and satisfied. The team at Jim's were nothing short of accommodating, professional and a complete testament to to their artistic practice. I had an amazing experience at Jims tattoo this past Sunday.. I needed a cover up tattoo and I had gone to tattoo america first and they was going to charge me $450 and said it have to be 2 sessions.. So my husband an I went to Jims and was very pleased as soon as we walked in.. My tattoo artist did basically a great job, but when I asked to have one element of the design corrected I was told by the front desk person that my tattoo is as perfect as I could get even though it is wobbly and uneven. There are a gazillion places in and around the area to get tattoos.   Go to Jim's.  These guys and gals are pros.I was a walk in and I was easily able to find a design I liked in the gallery.  The guy at the counter was helpful, polite, and was able to quickly point me in the right direction in their extensive gallery.He got me set up with an artist and in the chair without hassle.  Kelley did mine and she was very patient while helping me find just the right spot on my shoulder.  She was very careful, professional, and pleasant throughout the process.  She's very precise and knows what she's doing.  My tattoo looks exactly how I wanted it to look.The shop was clean, easy to find, and there are private rooms.  And the people working there couldn't be nicer.  They want you to be happy with your new permanent friend and it shows.  Just can't compliment the staff enough.  I wish I could give them more than 5 stars.It gets busy, so you might want to make an appointment.  I went when they opened on a Friday and it filled up fast.  My timing was good. Thank you God for finally bringing me a great tattoo shop. I have had nothing but crappy luck for pretty much all of my past 20 tattoos. This place was literally a breath of fresh air. The people are actually friendly and welcoming unlike other places such as the painted bird in medford where the people are huge jerks. Al was very welcoming and very sweet and nice to talk to. He even offered to grab me Starbucks on his run for his staff. Which was incredibly considerate and it made me even more comfortable there. Usually I feel really uneasy in tattoo shops which is crazy because I have 21, right? But no. Super awesome people working there.This shop is sparkling clean also with private rooms. (Again, unlike the painted bird in medford where you are ONTOP of other people) They and they obviously take pride in the way their shop looks to customers. And it doesn't just look clean, it really is clean.My gorgeous tattoo was done by Ashley Matthias. I knew of her through girls I work with and I loved all of their tattoos that were done by her so I made an apt. She drew up something beautiful for me. I pretty much gave her free reign because I had seen enough of her work to trust her. My tattoo is perfect. All the lines are straight. The shading is incredible. Everything is detailed and perfect and I have a favorite tattoo now. I love all of my tattoos but if I could erase them all and start again with just work by Ashley, I would in a second.Also she charged me the most reasonable price ever. My beautiful detailed custom drawn tattoo was the same price as my stupid little pink skull from the painted bird. this place is king shit when it comes to tattoos. you hear the name over and over again, but for good reason. they've been around for so long that they can't fuck it up for themselves; they NEED the artists to be the best of the best, and they have to do it with hardcore efficiency. and that they do.the dude you first see when you go in there is the balls. love him. if you're a prissy girl or a puss of a dude, you may be a little inimidated by the guy. he's a tattoo guy. once you get to talking with him, though, it feels like you're going to have a full house, sentimental-music-and-hug-tyme moment. he even lifted up his shirt to show me all his tattoos. if you go in with just an idea, wtf EVER, they're going to help you out. they want to. if you go in with an exact desire, they're going to make it work for you. if you go in wanting something off the wall, you're in luck cause they have a lot of shit to choose. i may laugh at you, but you'll get a good tattoo.i am one of those douche bags that has stars tattooed all over her. no, not nautical stars. thanks for asking, though. i have outlines of stars. i've been drawing them on myself since the nineties. that's some vintage shit. i have four separate tattoos, making a total of 9 stars. korie from jim's is responsible for 5 of those stars and he's going to be the one to give me at least 8 more. he just doesn't know it yet.this place is a class effing act. my boyfriend and i went in on a sunday as they were opening. the guy at the front desk knows what's up in terms of who is better at what, so even though there were 2 or so other guys with no clients, he had us wait for korie, who he knew was super good at stars. that's not to say the other guys weren't; it's just that he rather put us with someone that was proven to be good at stars. i appreciated that so much, you have no idea. when i told the guy i wanted them on my rib cage (p.s. this is called a "ho handle," which made me feel like a #1 class act) and the dude tried to test me and sort of talk me out of it. the girl that was being worked on before us was crying like a baby bitch cause she was getting flowers in the same area. she only was able to get one flower done and had to bail. that was super reassuring to me but that's where i wanted my stars and that's where they were gonna fuckin go!i'm rambling way too much.korie was rad. we were listening to his ipod and a clutch song came on random and i told him i liked them, so he played all clutch from then on out. we joked around like old friends. five stars took probably 10 minutes. he seemed super impressed at how i didn't twitch or shake or shit myself or whine or cry like the turd girl before me. i made one little peep (like, legit a peep because i felt like my sidefat was being dug into with a knife afire) and he yelled at me to shut up and i did. then he thought he offended me, which he didn't cause i knew we were bff, and apologized. this guy rules.p.s. my boyfriend also got stars, on the backs of his arms, and they're pretty amazing. we are dorks and get similar tattoos.this was a year ago, almost exactly, and my tattoos haven't faded even though i go tanning (like an ASSHOLE) and am not the best at remembering to moisturize. they're still dark black and perfect. i want to go back and add more onto the ho handle to be a supreme hipster (is that the right term for a post-emo lame kid?) fuckface. they never bled or got weird. also, i've lost weight since then and they didn't turn into slop. i don't know if that's a result of korie's tattooing but it is for the sake of telling a story, dammit.for two of us it was $300. i don't know the breakdown cause we paid together. steve's stars (two) are about 3 inches large, filled in, and outlined. my five stars vary in size but i guess they average on being 1 inch each. the quality, the cleanliness, and the experience were worth way more than $300. i've never felt more comfortable getting ink permanently fucking up my body in my life. i'm ABSOLUTELY going back.
