Agony Tattoo is owned and operated by one person: Mike. Mike is amazing - and he doesn't give himself enough credit for his skills. He is lightning fast, doing double the work in half the time, but without sacrificing the look of the tattoo. His free hand shading alone is comparable with top level artists - he just has a great eye for it and can make a basic outline really pop. Yes, the shop looks a bit run down, but to make it look like a high end place he would probably have to charge their high end prices. He keeps his prices fair, and the shop unpolished. The shop is in a strip mall, above a hardware store, with very old carpet and could use a paint job, but he will always make sure that your skin and the tattoo are clean and taken care of - that's where he puts his efforts. He sometimes listens to the news, sometimes music (sometimes random things) because the shop is just him - sitting there by himself all day. He doesn't try to put on a persona like other places, with black leather furniture and blaring metal - you walk in, you get Mike. Mike as a person is funny and welcoming. While he (and the shop) may not look like it from the outside he has built a word-of-mouth reputation since the 90's for being LGBT friendly and safe for women. He is a professional when it comes to the actual work, and will make sure you are as comfortable as possible, regardless of the body part he is currently inking. He has no tolerance for racists, bigots, assholes, or idiots. He will tell you honestly if your tattoo is a bad idea, instead of just getting your money, and will give advice for the best look possible. I have moved away from the area, but when I want new ink I make the journey back to see Mike - I won't go anywhere else. Read Less
