I went in for a Friday the 13th tattoo and after waiting 6 hours to get my tattoos and for starters the guy was on FaceTime while he was tattooing me. Secondly, I got home and realized the tattoo on my neck was crooked, and third he didn't even wrap up my tattoos when he was finished. The customer service here was shit, and although I know they're Friday the 13 tattoos and the artists were tired, there was no logical reason for me to get the customer service that I did. You don't treat customers like that especially with something a permanent as a tattoo. Read Less

I have gotten all my tattoos done here and I went in yesterday kind of just winging it to get a tattoo in remembrance of my mom who just recently passed. Me and her had gotten matching rosary ankle tattoos about 10 years ago which we both got done here at stingray. I went in not really knowing what I wanted but knowing I wanted either her bday and day of passing under the rosary. I got the artist Jm who gave me his input on my idea and he suggested I just do a little message and maybe her name.So I gave him full control and let him draw something up and after I saw it I instantly fell in love and it just felt right. So I allowed him to proceed and yes it hurt as all tattoos do plus it was on the top of my foot, but Jm was very gentle he had a light hand so that was nice. Total time from walking in to him drawing it up then finishing the tattoo only took about an hour which I was very pleased with because it was a bit painful.Overall I'm extremely happy and I plan to go back soon to have my rosary touched up since its been a few years. I personally haven't got a tattoo from here but I have gotten my tongue pierced here i believe his name was Rafael! But they are supe awesome here anybody that asks where I got my piercing done I tell them the stingray! Everybody there is just super nice and when I got my tongue done I came back in like a week later and they put a shorter bar in there for free didn't charge me and put it in there themselves. My friend and I of 18 years had been planning to get matching tattoos. Because she and my goddaughter are visiting with a packed schedule we couldn't nail down a time so we had to set walk in appointments and my tattoo artist is no longer in town. I called ahead of time to see if they had someone to do the tats for us. There was a lady there who could if we popped in right at opening so we did. It's a small tattoo on our wrists that costs at most shop minimum. Which for their shop is $80, so  $160 for the both of us without tip. This lady tried saying it'd take two hours, plus the color would be extra and it's super detailed etc, and tried charging us $180 each... no thank you. I have a tattoo that covers my entire back that cost me that much, and it has some color in it, go figure. I understand everywhere is different and that walk ins get taken advantage of at times but that was ridiculous, and not to mention extremely rude. This is the second time I've been in this shop and the second time I've had terrible service. The first time I wanted to get my tongue pierced. I stood there for 10 minutes being ignored by anyone and everyone who walked by until I walked out and went to evolution and gave them my money... We ended up going to Battle Born and getting exactly what we wanted for $140, and no one had a sign posted saying I couldn't have my goddaughter with me. Again, I get people who shouldn't have kids, or bring them into shops, but I am not that person and I have not appreciated how I've been treated in this shop ever. Read Less

My friend and I had a girls weekend in reno and were looking to get a tattoo while we were there. After scheduling an appointment at another establishment down the street we were then told that they didn't have time for us. I know small pieces are never a priority but we were bummed. Still wanting to get some ink done but not wanting to sacrifice cleanliness or quality we stumbled upon stingray. I'm SO GLAD that we did. My friend got hers done by Mickey. He did great work and was very sweet and personable. I got mine done by Rafael. He was hilarious and at times I forgot I was even being tattooed. We clicked immediately. I really appreciated the cleanliness and professionalism of the shop as well. It was nice seeing him unwrap everything out of the autoclave right in front of me. Words cannot express how talented JM is. Please do not be discouraged by the youth that is all this young man's face. He's Filipino he's going to look 20 when he's 50. Let's just begin with the amount of patience he has is beyond words. My husband and I came in multiple times to share our ideas with him because we were going back and forth on what style of tattoo my husband wanted.  JM listen to us every time we came in to share photos of my husband's future tattoo. We finally decided to make the appointment for JM to draw on my husbands arm (for an idea) to see what the art would look like. You are beyond pleased with his talents so we scheduled an appointment. Be aware if you're going to schedule an appointment you have to leave a deposit. Yesterday my husband completed his first session. Believe it or not JM is beyond professional. Junior did my first and second tattoos. I researched shops for my first one and found Junior's portfolio to be most in tune with what I was looking for. He was friendly, informative, and patient given my inexperience. When I went in to get the work done he explained the process, what I should expect, the discomfort I'd feel, how much time it would take, and asked me before taking liberties with artistic freedom. I was so glad I found him. When I was ready for my second I went back to him. This tattoo holds a lot of significance (it's probably the most emotional and symbolic tattoo I have) and he worked with me on ideas. When it finally hit me I showed him what I came up with. He loved it as much as I did. He perfected my idea and when it came time for my appointment he was very sympathetic and understanding when I told him as of 3 weeks prior a halo was required to complete the artwork. My husband and I both wanted to get matching tattoos and this place was recommended by a friend. I understand being busy and not able to do a walk in right away but to ignore potential clients altogether as you walk in and out of the room?  Extremely rude and discourteous. The tattoo work I got was AMAZING... didn't hurt one bit. HOWEVER, and that is a Large However. I went in for 4 little words on the back of my neck and Art overcharged me to the max. My brother had asked previously about how much that tattoo would cost me since he was getting me a gift certificate for my birthday. He was told about $60-$70. I came in shortly after that to get the tattoo and was charged $140. What makes the situaiton even worse is that Art admited to over charging me when my brother, who is a loyal customer, went in and confronted him.Like I said their work was amazing and he was nice, until I found out that he took advantage of me. This is the only place I will consider having any ink or piercings done at.  I had a crappy experience when I got my first tattoo at another place in Reno.  I went in as a walk-in for a small tattoo and a piercing and was seen by Rafael.  He's funny as shit, and he put me at ease.  Unlike with my first tattoo artist (I use that term loosely) Rafael listened to me when I told him that it was starting to hurt a bit (got a tat on the back of my neck, and I'm a sissy about needles) so he would stop for a moment, joke around, and continue on.  The giant d-bag from the other place who laughed at me, and then kept the gun in the same f'ing place, prick.  When I finally decide it's time for another tattoo I will be going to Rafael and no one else.
