I went here a few months back and forgot to post a review.  I had my first tattoo done here by Nikki.  She did an amazing job and the whole experience from appointment to walking out the door with fresh ink was great.  They definitely have an edgy vibe to the staff their, but if you can roll with that and get to k ow them, the experience is pretty awesome!  I would highly suggest this location if in Reno, NV and want to get some ink done!  My wife and I love this place, and I plan to go back for more in the near future! I've gotten two tattoos from Drake at Aces and both have succeeded my expectations. He has a real talent for taking an idea and making it way better. He gave me two options for both of my ideas. A precise rendering of what I thought I wanted and an inspired version that was even better and transformed to look really goo on skin. Of course this was always bigger (because small tattoos are usually kinda lame). He takes real pride in his work and is in that sweet spot where he is a skilled artist but isn't yet burned out. My one thing about the shop is that the sailor talk with the guys can be a bit salty and the loud punk music didn't really float my folk rock loving boat, but I was willing to over look these things for the quality work. The pricing is very fair and feels like a good deal (especially since I'm from San Francisco). Do yourself a favor and let Drake have his way with some of your skin. You won't be sorry. Read Less

My dudes. I've gotten two tattoos from Jake here at Ace's and he is great. First I time I went I got a Clueless tattoo (bc obviously). I saw Jake's cat photos at his station, he saw my cat tattoo on my arm, and I knew I was in the right place. The second time was on my 21st birthday and all my friends were in class (it was Tuesday and rainy) so instead of sitting at home I got a Beyoncé tattoo (you guys are starting to see where my priorities are). Jake gave me a lil birthday discount because he remembered me and gave me my first legal beer while I got my tattoo, turning my 21st into a pretty fab Tuesday. From start to finish great experience. I called many places about tattooing my 17 yr with consent. Many places won't, even though it's legal in NV. When I called they were polite & went over what I'd need to bring as far as paperwork. Rob was our artist he was super chill. He checked to make sure she was doing ok & made sure to cover any missed spots, he was meticulous. I got a matching tattoo (my 6th) and he's by far the best. If we get anymore tattoos the 4 hour drive from the Bay Area is totally worth it. We're both super happy!!Oh and the shop is super clean. Read Less

The guy at the counter was extremely rude! Started helping us showed him a picture of what I wanted ..he left to make a copy for an artist which was fine. BUT, two other guys walked in and he started helping them, taking pictures and acted like we weren't there. I said excuse me, could we finish up first. He said I know your in a hurry (which wasn't true),he said "hold on" and continued to help the other guy. I walked out! How unprofessional! The owner needs someone to represent his business properly. My mom has been going here for years and when I turned 16 it's of course where I would go. It's an old school tattoo shop and I live it. They are not going to let me get a tattoo that they think I will regret. Very honest and upfront. Nothing flashy just tattoos. It's refreshing because it's one of the only places in Reno that hasn't really changed and it's nice to know it still has the Reno charm. Read Less

My husband came in with a basic idea of what he wanted and wanted Kevin to do his signature style and have creative freedom. The result was beyond all expectations. Rude people and super cocky. Went in to see about a tattoo and was harassed for parking in their designated parking Lot. Wtf? Take your business elsewhere. There are so many tattoo shops in town to choose from and customer service. Amaro has no customer service skills and is completely unprofessional and so is the front desk girl. Check out Battleborn or any of the other of highly competent tattoo shops. Will not be back. Read Less

Just moved to Reno from Detroit and wasn't sure where to go to. Went in and talked to the people at the front desk about what I was wanting. They told me that this is the artist that I should use and made an appointment about 2 weeks out. When I showed up, we reviewed in detail over what I wanted, he drew it up and went to work. This was my first bigger tattoo , I have 2 little stick n poke tattoos on my wrists and my moms birth year in Roman numerals on my ribcage , however , this was honestly the best experience I've encountered . The place was really clean and Jake took his time and it was detailed beautifully , even my mom , who copied my tattoo , frequently compares our tattoos and says mine is done much more beautifully. Took my daughter (17) for her first tattoo. I came on a Sunday. After showing them a few pictures of the idea she had Rob drew it up. It was very good and for what she wanted. He helped us determine it need to be smaller. I appreciated they took in consideration of her first tattoo. The place was very clean and we were in and out on a a coupleOf hours. If you come in have a few pictures you can email them, but let them use their creative talent to make it your own. And while your in mid town check out the other businesses in the area! Got my tattoo colored here. Came in planning to just make an appointment and Jon had a cancelation. He got me in that night! He free handed the coloring of my tattoo, and it was amazing.He really knows how to do water color tattoos. The other artists at the shop are really good as well. My friends have gotten tattoos here as well and they were really cool.The shops clean and right in the heart of mid town off virgina. The prices are really good. 200 bucks for 3 hours of me squirming around, not the easiest person to tat, being muscular as well.I was so happy with my tattoo and I will be getting all my tattoos done here from now on. Jon is leaving for a little bit to Spain, but he'll back soon! If you get the chance and want a tattoo come here, expect about a 1-2 month wait time for appointment. Read Less

All the guys in there are awesome and extremely talented. I tasked Jon McCann with an extremely difficult coverup that my dumb 15 year old self did 19 years ago. He gave me an amazing tattoo that I get compliments on daily. I show those people what Jon covered up and it blows their minds. Drake works the counter while apprenticing I believe and he is a really nice guy that takes care of people while they're getting work done. Great tattoo place!  We stopped in to see if we needed an appointment fully expecting it would be for a different day.  We were super excited when they were able to get us in in 2 hours.   I got a sisters infinity circle on my wrist. Jake was my tattoo artist.  He did a fabulous job!  The shop was clean and the staff was super friendly.  I didn't think their prices were bad either.  I have 2 more tattoos that I'd like to get and I will be coming here to get them done.
