I have had many tattoos done here over the years, below I have included just a few done at Iron Age. The dolphin pictured I had done when I was 18 years old at Iron Age and I am now 39. These artist and this studio do amazing work that withstand time. I have gone to other places and most times end up with deep regret and back at Iron Age asking them to fix whatever I had done elsewhere. I HIGHLY recommend Iron Age for quality life long artistry. My sister and I came here to get a tat together. Chris was our tattoo artist. He was absolutely fantastic! The tats came out amazing and don't even hurt at all. The shop was so clean! I went in for a simple little semicolon, and the receptionist was suppper nice and got me back right away. We arrived at the shop a half hour after it opened (which probably is why the wait was short). Morgan was my artist and took the time to make sure the design was straight (she even printed off another stencil and took the time to wipe off and repositon!). Great experience! Got my nose pierced this past Saturday night. Receptionist was super nice and helpful in getting everything set up. Caleb was awesome - he was quick yet thorough in helping answer all my questions. Made me feel very comfortable and was a funny dude. Biggest waste of money! I will say that the staff was extremely friendly and comforting, but everything is overpriced. I went there because my friend wanted to get a piercing even though I knew prices were high. I got 4 piercings for $250. It’s been 2 weeks and all of the jewelry has broken and fallen out, since I got the cheaper prices jewelry they won’t replace it for free. Read Less

Got a tattoo here over a month ago. First tattoo and it was an amazing experience! Everyone was very friendly! Shop was clean and Chris did amazing work! So a last minute idea turned into the most wonderful tattoo experience! We were in the area for dinner and I’ve been itching to get the tattoo I’ve been wanting for the last several months. We walked in and were greeted by an awesome lady who helped me get checked in and the design process was super easy. Chris, the tattoo artist helped me to get the size, color and detail work nailed down and stenciled my desired design out. He explained everything from why certain colors should be avoided to what the process entailed. He was SO gentle and super fun! I have not had a better experience thus far. I have had tattoos and piercings done here. And let me tell you, you're not going to find a better artist than Jason James!!! His works is clean and fantastic. His hand is light, and he's just a nice guy. He enjoys his work and the proof is on my skin. I've have several tattoos done before him and he is the ONLY artist I've gone back to. We went to Iron Age to get tattooed the first weekend in August. There are a few things to say, some good - and some very bad:1) My tattoo looks great. Jason Stubblefield did it and I'm happy with it.2) They're one of the few legit shops in StL that will tattoo minors with the correct documentation. My sister got her first tattoo that weekend as well and Jason did great with her, and I really respected his discretion on where he would allow placementHowever...3) It was a VERY uncomfortable experience. We were there at opening and we were told 30-45 minutes. 2 hours later we were first worked with. We had no issue with waiting, but it was almost 6pm before any of the 4 of us ate as we arrived at noon and were not done until 6pm. We would have gone to eat had they just told us it would be 2 hours. Jason took my sister and Jeff Durham was the artist who grabbed my chart. I've been being tattooed for 5 years and I have never met someone so rude and uncomfortable. The only reason I was being tattooed by someone other than my artist was simply due to age restriction in our state. We were recommended to Iron Age and I am so disappointed.He refused to do what I wanted, and would only do it if it was something he liked. I tried to suck it up and work with it, but with a forearm piece I wanted to like what was being placed there. I asked him to draw what he was thinking and we would work with it. He drew it. I wanted a few changes and he declined to make the changes and was incredibly rude to me. I showed him some references of shape and style. He pushed my references to the side and said "This is what you can get". I ended up requesting another artist, advising ALL patrons in the waiting room (around 15) of the negative experience I had with Jeff, and ultimately waited on Jason to finish with my sister to be tattooed myself.I understand artistic discretion, point of view, and that typically your artist knows what will look good and what will not, but making your clients feel comfortable is extremely important. I've never been treated so badly in a shop. Despite ending up with a quality tattoo (after waiting for 5 hours) I will never return or recommend anyone to Iron Age Tattoo due to their lack of customer care, rushing their clients, and extreme lack of professionalism. I was a walk in on Memorial Day. Came in with a picture of a really pretty tattoo. It was lyrics from a some that means a lot to me. The artist annihilated my leg. Every bit of it was dug so deep and I have a lot of scarring. I was rushed in and out in less than an hour. The tattoo itself looked amateur. There was no artist imagination put into it all. I couldn't tell at first because my leg was bright red. I didn't want to go back and let them touch my leg again. I have since had another shop attempt to cover it and it's still popping through because of how deep the Iron Age artist went. All I wanted from them was my $200 back, yet through all the emails to them of dissatisfaction and the fact that their artist screwed me pretty permanently, they would not do it. I will never go to Iron Age again and I will make sure I show everyone the mediocre tattoo that came out of their shop. Read Less

I went there for my first tattoo and i'd have to say it was a pretty good place. They are very clean and hospitable. The guy who did my tattoo seemed like a nice enough guy but he must have been having a bad day because he was slightly rude, but he did a good job. I would definatly reccomend it. Read Less

I got my first tattoo there yesterday.. I walked in and knew the artist I wanted, who was Darron.. I had gone the previous week and got a price, and they told me $160 for what I wanted. Anyway. I walked in, and the girl told me it'd be an hour wait for my artist, so I signed up for someone else. I waited a few minutes and a different guy came up to me and said Darron would only be 20 minutes at the most. I said ok.. I waited almost 2 and a half full hours for Darron to be done. He drew what I wanted for me, but it was too big so he sized it down, which was a lot better. I was talking to my dad to make sure he wanted to pay that price, and Darron was telling us to hurry up. We finally got seated and he began.. He didnt talk to me barely, so it was an uncomfortable experience. The only thing he did tell me was the guy at the front told me the wrong price, and it should've costed 240$, but he only charged me 180$.. I got a piercing this past weekend at Iron Age and it was such a GREAT experience! I emailed the piercers in the morning asking a few questions (price, type of jewelry etc) and the piercer working that day, Anne, emailed me back very quick! Anne answered all of my questions and was so sweet and helpful through email so I decided Iron Age was where I was going! When I walked in the guy at the front desk signed me in and helped me pick out which stud would be best for me and answered all of the questions I had. He was VERY professional, friendly and helpful! Then Anne came up front to get me and took me back to the piercing room. It was immaculate! She then talked to me about what she was going to be doing and then opened up all of the equipment from sterilized packages. She helped me pick the exact placement on my nose and made sure I liked it before continuing. As she was piercing she explained EVERY detail that she was doing and it was over before I knew it! She asked if I had any questions at all and also made sure I knew how to contact her if I thought of any after I left. I LOVE my nostril piercing and I LOVE Iron Age! A friend of mine told me abot the studio after having an artis back out on me when i was suspose to get my tattoo in Sep 10th. The next weekened i decied to do a walk-in at Iron Age!! it was the best choice i could have ever made. John (the frount guy) talked to me about getting what you want. He was awesome at answering the guestions that i had! My artis was Darren had he was really cool. He is super nice guy! He talked with me and my friend the whole time and really madegetting my first tattoo an awesome experience!!! I'll never go anywhere else!!! I got my third tat from iron age on 8/24, two weeks went by. Got my first good look at my new tat. I was told this tat would be very simple,and would not take long. So someone please tell me why I spent $250.00, and got A JACKED-UP tattoo. I went back to talk to this ( artist ).To my surprise he did not see anything wrong, THERE A SHOCK. I'm not going to put his name on this, I feel it's in bad taste. I know there are good artist in this shop that don't deserve reviews like this, there's at least one that I know of. They would not give me my money back, just offered to fix it. I don't won't iron age to fix anything, especially a new tattoo. So in close I spent $225.00 for the tat, $25.00 for the tip, $250.00 in total. For A 5"" tat, that looks like xxxx! I will never go back to iron age, It' all hype & way way overpriced.
