I decided to stop by and I am so happy I did! He took the time to talk to me, explaining his experience, his "light touch" and the difference between "new school" and "old school" tattooing. First off it's a tiny one manned shop so don't bring your entourage, second he is higher priced than some of the other shops that do equal work, third I was getting a tat with my friend and my friend who had never had a tat went first well he made her sit in an awkward angle to put it on her ankle and he cussed and swore at her the whole time almost had her in tears, I'm a seasoned tat collector which I don't know if that made him nicer to me or what but he didn't get ignorant with me at all. I went in with a drawing of what I wanted and Craig exceeded my expectations. Not only did he do an amazing job on my tattoo, but he told me exactly what to expect throughout the whole process. He made it a very personal experience and was very understanding with my questions, knowing this was my first tattoo. He took his time and did a very beautiful job. You will not find any where in St. Louis a Tattoo Artist like Craig. He is the best of the best. He pays strict attention to details and his tattoo art work can not be matched. Craig's touch is so gentle, that you are not aware that you are getting a tattoo. This is the ONLY place to go, whether it is your first tattoo or if you have had other tattoos. "Craig" told me it would be about 30 minutes to an hour. I asked if he took debit. He said cash only. So I told him I was going to run and get cash and that I'd be right back. I was gone for maybe ten minutes. When I returned he informed me that he was doing walkins only and since I had left another guy came in and that it would be about three or so hours before he could get mine done. I was not happy. He asked if I wanted to schedule later in the week and since I live out of town I said that doesn't work for me and walked out. I'm pretty sure he did that because the other guys tattoo would get him more money. Overall he was a jerk to me in his attitude and the way he treated me. Besides that he quoted me between 85 and 100 bucks for a pretty small tattoo. At AllStar it cost me only 70 and the service, atmosphere and people were excellent there. I have been going to Craig's since I was old enough to be tattooed. His shop is so clean you could eat off of the floors. He has been in business for 25 years and you can tell - he is great! He does all kinds of work - from flash to custom - coverups - or whatever you bring in the shop. He is very detailed and takes his time.
