I had a great experience at this shop. The prices are decent, all of the staff is friendly and Trevor did an amazing job at my double helix piercing. There was no appointment necessary for a piercing and the whole process was super fast! I was in and out of there in 10 minutes. For those of you who want more details, brace yourself I'm about to write an essay:I called beforehand to ask if you can bring your own jewelry and the person who answered the phone was so polite and had great customer service skills, which I would never expect from a piercing/tattoo shop! If anything, his politeness is what made me decide I would go to this shop. By the way, you can bring your own jewelry, but it would take an extra 30 minutes for them to sanitize it. I ended up just using their individually-wrapped, pre-sanitized jewelry because with the jewelry it was only $30 per piercing! Great price!!Right when I walked in and mentioned piercing, Trevor was right there ready to help out. Literally, one second after I said the word piercing. With the phone call and that front desk experience, they were 2 for 2 with first impressions. You also pay afterwards which is nice. I've been to a shop where you pay upfront which makes it awkward for tipping if you don't know how they're going to do. I had a special request for Trevor to space the two hoop piercings so that they would eventually fit a spiral earring I had brought with me. After just glancing at a picture I showed him of what I was looking for, he knew exactly what I wanted and his placement was spot on. He even gave great advice when I wasn't sure if the marks should be moved lower or not. I put all my trust in his expertise and you all should too because he definitely knew what would look best. Only downsides are that my friend who I had brought with me wasn't allowed in the room with me because the room was small. That was the room for ear piercings at least. So, if you were wanting to bring someone with you to hold your hand (me, usually), maybe see if they have any larger rooms. My friend had to sit on a stool in the doorway. Afterwards, Trevor gave me an aftercare handout and wrote on there the saline solution he suggests that I get. He also offered to change my piercing to the spiral one in 4 months and I likely will! There are so many tattoo shops in the area, but I love All Star. I have had 2 pieces done here by Rob Johnson and plan to go back. I have recommended it to many other people. Everyone is so nice the second you walk in and through the entire process. Everyone here is very patient with you and friendly and they understand if you need a short break, they make sure to take care of you, they even  accommodated my latex allergy by using non-latex gloves, which was a huge deal for me! It is NOT easy to get a 5 star review from me off customer service alone, but this place has done it! I called randomly to see if I needed an appointment for a piercing and was met by a very friendly person on the phone. I went in and was greeted immediately. This is important because some tattoo/piercing places like to operate on this whole "rude rebel" vibe. I'm not down with that. Customer service MATTERS in every specialty. Anyway, so before I can even sit down, Trevor welcomes me and tells me he'll be right with me. After a very brief wait, he calls me back and we talk about what I want. He was VERY knowledgeable and honest. When i told him I'd been somewhere else a few years ago and had to take that piercing out b/c it wouldn't heal right, he didn't disparaged the place. Went there to get my nose pierced, I walked in was pleasantly greeted. I was able to meet the piercer and talk about different sizes and material of studs. I chose the titanium which is $60. The process was really quick, my piercer I wish I knew his name adjusted all the comments regarding placement of the stud which I loved. The pain in a scale of 1-10 would probably be a hard 4, it was quick and almost near painless. After the initial piercing I was given a daily care sheet  I was also told to get saline spray. As a first timer, had expected a bit more prep information about the tools they use, cleaning procedures to avoid transmission risks, etc. My wife is a doctor so she was a bit paranoid about cleaning procedures as she has seen cases of STDs being so passed via tat.However, everyone was super-friendly, and the artist was spot on in the design and font. He gave several suggestions that helped with the longevity and appearance of the tattoo.I would return, but wanted to share this in case it helps them continue to improve their brand for first timers, and those in the medical profession. A friend and I came here for a pretty simple tattoo- not a tattoo that needed to be drawn out or anything. We walked in probably about 4 or maybe 5 hours before close, and the front desk lady was awesome- super friendly and prompt in giving us the paperwork to fill out. After that, we waited for about an hour and a half- which isn't the reason for the rating since I know I didn't make an appointment. A tattoo artist came out to meet us- I don't remember his name, he was an older guy, and I explained what I wanted (a Pontiac firebird) on the inside of my left calf above my ankle. I showed him the size I wanted and he came back with something MUCH bigger, I asked him to make it smaller, he reduced it a tiny bit, and this happened a couple more times and he said 'sorry I can't do it any smaller than that- that's just going to have to do'. I go into his little shop corner, everything is clean etc. so that's good. I sit down and adjust my leg until he says all good, and he says 'you're going to want to lay back'. I said 'I'm fine for right now actually I like to watch my tattoos get done' and he said 'no you're going to want to lay back', and then lowered the chair. I told him how I wanted it colored in and he said he couldn't do that at all (just a basic black and a yellow tone, nothing crazy). He had just gotten the ink out and thank GOD I decided to ask him how much it was going to cost. He said 300!!!!!! This is a tattoo not even 3 inches square, with no detail, no drawing, only one color. I ask him 'okay that's a little high what if I just did the outline' and he said "250, the outline is all the work, have you never gotten a tattoo before? They're expensive' I said 'okay I guess I'll come back some other time' fully planning not to, and then paid my $50 deposit and left. The next day I went to my shop that I normally go to, for the same design but with the colors where I wanted them and everything, for $100 (not including tip), with much better customer service. This happened back in January and I just never posted a review, but tonight I was looking for a new shop to try out and came across this one and just had to say my piece. Read Less

I would give this place zero stars if I could. I came in wanting new jewelry for my conch piercing because I was tired of sleeping on my hoop one. I came in and the piercer wasn't there and they told me to come back in a couple hours (which isn't a problem usually piercers operate on their own hours). I came back and the gentleman helped me find a piece of jewelry and helped put it in (which I could have done myself). He asked if I wanted to pay in cash or card and I asked how much it was. 25 fkn dollars! For a piece of jewelry... I could have gotten a new piercing entirely for that price. Unless this jewelry is gold plated I don't understand why it's that steep of a price. I'm glad I'm not from around here people in Kansas don't take advantage of people like that. First an over due review for a piercing I got here in 2010 - I had my nose pierced at All Star and kept the stud in for about three years. When I took it out the piercing hole closed and healed completely, you would have never known I had a nose piercing. I've seen some people with really gnarly scars after taking out a nose ring/hoop. Thanks guys for properly piercing my nose!Now, onto the tat - I got my second tattoo done here last night. Chris (I think? Beard and gauges?) did an awesome job. For a walk in I was seen pretty quickly, everyone was friendly, and the place was clean and all around had good vibes going on. I have went to this place twice before and had a good experience. I tried calling and emailing this place to set an appointment for me and my friend but no answer, no response. So we try the walk in thing and when my friend got her small wrist tat priced outrageously high, she decided against it. Chris Tate did both of my kids footprints and came up with his own design. He didn't just trace the tattoos, but did them free hand while looking at that cards. The tattoo artists are brilliant and I feel bad to leave low stars for their sake but the woman at the desk was extremely rude to me, Asked to see multiple IDs, accused me of having a fake ID, asked to match my credit card etc. I am in my 20s and do not look 17. She kept popping in during my session, and I felt like she was trying to intimidate me almost. God knows why, but she was rude enough for me to want to leave a bad review. Think they need to reconsider who they put up front.Artists on the other hand are brilliant and make you feel very comfortable. Had a great experience here the first time around when my husband had a tattoo done to celebrate his recovery from a pretty traumatic cancer surgery. Morgan did a great job, so we came back (all the way from Chicago), to have her do mine. I had never had a tattoo, but after giving it much thought, and sending ideas to Morgan via email, I felt good with my decision, and was looking forward to having it done while visiting over Labor Day weekend.  Unfortunately, I was taken by surprise when Morgan showed me a much larger design, that really wasn't quite what I had envisioned. I was not ready to commit to a tattoo four times the size of what I had expected. If there was an issue with the size, I'm not sure why that hadn't been communicated to me before making the trip. My husband and I were both appalled at how quickly her attitude changed, and the snarky remarks she made when I asked her if there was any possible way to do it smaller (I was open to coming up with a similar, less-detailed design, but that wasn't offered). Needless to say, We took our business to Top Shelf in STL. The artists there were amicable and took the time to come up with an idea that fit the size I wanted, yet was simple enough to not lose the integrity of the design in years to come. For my 18th birthday, I decided to buy myself a tragus piercing. I looked online for shops in the area, and decided to check out all star. When I went in, I was immediately greeted by a welcoming gentleman behind the counter who took my information. As i stood there waiting, I was getting pretty anxious about the piercing. Chris led me into the piercing room and asked me plenty of questions to ensure that my piercing was exactly how I wanted it. He was quick, knowledgeable, and fun. I looked around for months for someone to work on a sleeve for me based on a piece of art I brought back from southern China a number of years ago. When I started talking to Omar he got what I wanted right away and everything just clicked. He liked the art and came across as genuinely interested in doing the work. I had found other artists who said they'd do the work, but none of them showed any real spark that the art appealed to them and that they would interpret what I wanted. Omar justifyably has a great reputation and it does take time to get an appointment with him. I don't live in St. Louis so that made it even harder for both of us to find the time to do it. I had waited quite a while to get this done so waiting a few months until our schedules sync'd was fine. The outcome was about as perfect as you could ask for. Looking forward to more sessions to turn that art into a full upper arm sleeve to frame the great looking ink he gave me. I loved going to Allstar. I had an appointment with Saint Louis Tattoo company and called the day before to see if I could move the time up an hour but they told me the guy quit, so I decided to try somewhere else. The reviews looked great so I decided to do a walk in on a Friday afternoon. This is my first tattoo and my mom was taking me as a birthday present. The people were all really nice and friendly and very helpful. I had Omar and he was great! He made sure he drew exactly what I wanted and talked to me to make sure it was all right. He was awesome with making sure I was doing ok during the whole thing since it was my first tattoo and it was on my foot. The color and design are beautiful and really professional. I got a simple tattoo of a snowflake 3 years ago. Was drug to Allstar on my lunch break by a friend who was tired of hearing me bellyache about wanting a tattoo. Dustin drew one up and was able to tattoo me within the hour.! It's true what they say... once you have one tatt, you want more!!! I was ready for #2 a week later... and again, I just got re-inspired b/c I ran into a very cute guy who had one done there. Said it took up half of his back and took 10 hours to complete! I brought in a simple cherry blossom tattoo, and was quoted $60 for it. After waiting an hour, Pepto came out and looked at the picture of the tat I wanted, then drew the outline. I told him where I wanted it, and the angle. Then sat in the chair and he got to work. The colors were supposed to be green, purple, yellow, and white. I came out of it with a completely pink flower, and a yellow and orange center. The only thing right was the green leaves. The angle was also different. When it was almost healed I called the shop to ask to get it redone. They said that they will not redo tats that had already healed, and that Pepto would be able to make the final decision after seeing it. And Pepto would have to be the one to redo it, but it probably have to be fully redone and paid for again. After he messed it up, I don't want him anywhere near me. I am so mad that he messed up something that would be on my body for the rest of my life. I will never go back to Allstar, and I hope none of you ever go to Pepto. Read Less

My sis and I went in as tattoo virgins, I' m not sure if she would do it again, but I even live out of town and would come in to get my next with Jason! We were greeted by Molly at the front counter, who was very cool, there was great music and comfy seats for those waiting. We were introduced to Jason, he was unable to do my tattoo that night, which was a drag, but did do my sister. I made an appt., left my drawing (a peacock) there for Jason to add his artistic touch and we headed back a few days later. I was happy that he did not change it, accept to enlarge the drawing for more detail and change some of the colors to be more vivid. He gave me another suggestion on were to place the tattoo, and I am glad I listened! I was nervous at first, but Jason puts you ease. Besides being in an uncomfortable position for 2 hours, I count it as one of my coolest experiences.
