This happened about a year ago, but I'm finally calm enough to write a proper review... A couple of my friends had some work done at Hearts of Fire with an artist named Sarah and they looked absolutely amazing. Both of them had black freehand lettering and since I was interested in getting the Deathly Hallows symbol and the word "believe" underneath with some stars to the side, I knew she was more than capable of giving me what I wanted. I live about 2 hours away so I made the appointment over the phone and we emailed back and forth discussing what I was wanting and how much it would cost. They had all of my info and knew I was traveling 2 hours for the appointment. When I arrived at 5pm a man named Steve greeted me... He said Sarah was "deathly ill" and wouldn't be able to tattoo me that day. He apologized and asked if I would like to reschedule but said if not he would be happy to tattoo me himself. Since I had already spent 2 hours on the road, wasted gas money, my time, and had 2 more hours or driving ahead of me, I didn't want to just call it a day and go back home. Who wants to be on the road for 4 hours for absolutely no reason. I understand people get sick, but I emailed them that morning and included all of my contact info just in case. One way or another someone SHOULD have contacted me beforehand. They all share the same email account... Disappointed as I was, the place looked really clean and had an extremely professional atmosphere so I decided to let him do it. I figured he had to have skill to work at a place like this. I even brought the images and wording in the font I wanted printed out in the exact size I needed. All he had to do was make a stencil and stamp it on me. Simple, right? Well I thought things were going okay but I should have looked in the mirror after he stamped the stencil on my wrist... The way my arm was laying was not really natural and when I show it to someone or have my arm out naturally you can tell it's totally stretched. I wasn't immediately happy with the stencils placement either and after a couple of adjustments he said, "You better like it this time because I'm not doing it again." I should have left at that point but I felt like maybe I was being ridiculous and let him continue instead. Seriously though... You only get one body and tattoos are FOREVER. He then ended up jabbing into me a couple of times while doing the stars and later it was those areas that got infected, took forever to heal and ended up losing the pigment after the shedding process was completed. I asked him to thicken the lines on the symbol and he went over them in a couple of places but I couldn't really tell any bit of a difference. I was too afraid of his response if I asked him to do it again. He also went back over the l and i in "believe" which I didn't ask for and later those ended up being thicker and blurred. I had a small yellow Mario star next to the work he was doing so I asked if he would be willing to go over the outline of it so it looked fresh again. With it being MAYBE half and inch wide and tall and a single black outline I didn't think he would care. He already had more than enough black ink out and it took less than 30 seconds to do. He gruffly said, "Yeah, but you'll have to give me a good tip". He also charged me more than Sarah had quoted me anyway. To top it all off, not realizing it at the time with his annoyance towards me through the entire sitting, he didn't reverse my stencil and did the Deathly Hallows symbol backwards! This has been my hands down WORST tattoo experience ever... I would not recommend having even a single dot tattooed by Steve. EVER! My friends still go there and get work done by Sarah and I'm sure she is fabulous, but I didn't even want to go back for my "free" touch up with Steve. After a year of disappointment and regret every time I look at my wrist, I'm finally going to another artist and paying them to fix the hack job Steve did. Unfortunately there is no way to reverse the symbol... It was meant to look hand drawn/painted and have an open part of the circle which is the wrong way so I'm just going to close it and probably thicken and straiten all the lines. I am still frustrated. I am still angry. The way he treated me as a paying customer is completely unforgivable. Read Less
