I went to Brandon to get my septum and belly button pierced, and had a really great experience. Also, my partner got his nostril, and his son got his ears. I really love how comfortable Brandon made us feel, and he answered every question. He was super professional, and really knowledgeable while still being very nice. I would strongly discourage anyone from going to Threshold to get piercings done. I had the most basic piercing, side of the nose. The first guy took probably 15 minutes to actually pierce it. I do not think he knew what he was doing. Didn't explain anything to me. All the while, I am in a ton of pain. Less than 2 weeks later my piercing comes out with my towel while drying off. They give no tips on things to not do. So I have to go back to get the ring put back in. Another guy this time. But he was even less knowledgeable. He put a screw in top in and again they don't tell you what they are doing and tons of pain. I tell him my nose is very swollen; are you sure it will be big enough? Yep! The next day I wake up and the earring is embedded in my nose. I had to dig it out of my skin! Needless to say, I went to another shop in town and she was amazing! Explained everything to me and even though my nose was very swollen and the earring embedded there was very little pain! This should not be as miserable of an experience as I have had with this company! And btw this is my first negative review. I don't typically do this type of thing but no one should experience this! The staff here was very nice. When I went here to get my nose pierced I made it very clear that I was allergic to certain metals and that I needed one of the best metals such as titanium. The piercer charged me an extra $10 for titanium and four weeks later my nostril piercing is infected. I went to see a different piercer and turns out the titanium nose stud I thought I got, is nickel, the cheapest and worst metal you can buy and wear. I would not recommend this place for any of your piercings. Read Less

2 months ago I got a piercing done at a different shop. I was having problems with it healing so I called and talked to the employees at Threshold to figure out what was going on. Come to find out the jewelry that the other shop gave me was too short. So I came into Threshold and they helped me pick out the correct size and even helped me put it in . It looks and feels so much better ! I highly recommend this place for your tattoo and piercing needs . The employees are nice and the shop is very clean . This was my 3rd time going here. The first time I got my belly pierced. The people weren't as nice my belly healed nicely but bled immediately after I had left. Although my first experience wasn't as great, they do have a nice choice in jewelry so I decided to go back to get jewelry for my traigus. I waited for about 10 minutes, due to it being a busy Friday, then finally I received help. I specifically asked the lady what size I would need, as I am not good with the gage size or the length of the earring. She asked if I wanted to stay to have it but it, but I knew they were busy so I went home instead. After getting home and putting the piercing in I find out that post is too long. I returned the next day to see if I could get another one free of charge, because I didn't select the post size someone insisted I get that size. They charged me another $10 and was careless if their mistakes. I would've spent the $10 had they not been so rude in careless, but instead I walked away. I more than likely won't do business with this place anymore. They do I good job but don't care about customer satisfaction, and to me that says a lot about a business. Read Less

Absolute best tattoo shop! Ask for Kirk Nitzsche! Kirk has been my artist for the past 8 years and he is amazing! I mistakenly went to a different artist a few years ago and I absolutely hated what he had done to my arm. When I showed it to Kirk he immediately put his creativity and artist skills to work!! Been here a few times. I was pierced by the owner and she was professional, courteous and made me feel appreciated as a customer. Went back later and she gave me tips for keeping my piercing clean and changed the jewelry (it's a helix and giving the anatomy of my ear it wasn't draining right she says). I was asking her about a coverup for my tattoo and she recommended an artist and I'm excited to meet with him soon. This is my go-to place. Close to home and super friendly!! Read Less

This place seems to always have new people which worries me. I've gone twice and the first time Nate shanley did my tattoo and it was great and has held up, although not very nice or personal his work was great. However, I had a terrible experience here when I got my tongue pierced, the lady that pierced me put a one inch bar in my mouth which made it impossible to close my mouth. Not only that but the piercing was diagonal through my tongue which made it very painful. This was a few years ago so I don't know if that woman still works there but I sure hope not! Read Less

I am giving 2 stars because the nose piercing was relatively painless which was a big deal for me, so kudos! However when the guy marked my nose, I questioned the placement and he said, "That's the right spot. There's not much wiggle room." Since this was my first pricing, I just trusted. I should have done my research because looking online and talking to people with nose permit conga, there is plenty of wiggle room. He was pretty short in general which makes sense for a tattoo parlor, but for the people who come in getting their first unique per icing, I think it would be nice to have someone who takes a little more time to consider placement and considering someone's questioning. I paid $40 and will be removing it and going somewhere else to get it redone. Read Less

My friends and I have been going to Kirk for several years.  I have seen first hand his extensive portfolio and he does amazing work.  In addition to his excellent work, Kirk will keep you entertained with his great stories and personality while you are getting inked.  I have had alot of work done by Kirk and always left satisfied.   I recently had some work done, and there were some things that didn't turn out right.  However, Kirk and the owner went above and beyond to correct the situation. I kept forgetting to write a review for this place and then I saw another Yelper's review and it triggered my memory! (Yeah, it's that bad, plus I have been MIA for a while..2014 has been so busy.....trying to get caught up on reviews!)Some odd months ago, I realized something terrible had happened...I'd somehow lost  an end cap for my industrial piercing barbell! I must have unscrewed the bloody thing in my sleep....or....something. I am still mystified as to how this transpired. In any case, I was going to order a replacement from the place where I had my piercing done (Trx) because it's kind of a haul for me and I despise parking over there, so I called them only to discover the cost to ship it to me would be more than the part was worth, and you can only buy them as a set (that's pretty standard though.) So I was like, crap, what am I gonna do.... there HAS to be a piercing place near my home!So I went on Yelp, and found this place! I honestly had no clue where it was since I don't venture out in this particular neighborhood all that often unless it's for work, and that's rare.... but was able to find no biggie. It's located in an unassuming strip mall.Walked inside and the place was a little busy, only one gal behind the counter, so she was on her toes. But it was worth the wait. She was able to help me pick out a replacement for my barbell. It should be noted, though, that the type they carry are threaded different from the ones available at Trx, so I pretty much had to get a whole new barbell, which wasn't a big deal or anything. I am just glad she was able to find one short enough for me (the ultra long ones tend to get caught on my hair!) The material was high grade surgical steel. I wanted titanium, but they didn't carry it. Again, not a big deal, cause I just needed something to prevent the hole from closing up. (And yeah, I have had this piercing for years now, but they can still shrink/close up if you don't keep jewelry in them!) Price was reasonable.Also I noticed the place was really clean, organized, and they have very high standards for safety and sanitation which is excellent. I would not hesitate to go back there for more jewelry or just additional piercings. I will eventually get my tragus pierced there, I swear!! :) Read Less

Threshold is my favorite place to go for Tattoos and Piercings.  The shop is super clean and the staff is very professional.  If you go in and want something that does not look good or that will not heal well in a certain area - they will be honest with you up front.  I appreciate that, because it just adds to the fact that they are genuine with theirPatrons.  I currently have 8 Tattoos, and three piercings and I've gotten them all at Threshold.  I don't even live close by - so that should tell you something.  Each of the Artists there are phenomenal and I would trust any one of them with doing work for me.If you would like to make an appointment, you will have to leave a deposit to hold your place.  However, you get it back upon your return.  After the work is done, you then pay the Artist.One of the things that I love about this place is the atmosphere.  There is always great music and conversation going on, so you're never really bored while you're getting ink'd!I would recommend this shop to everyone!  Threshold Rocks! Got my third tattoo here and honestly I'm already thinking of either getting it redone or covered up.  Since they haven't updated their website, I can't give you the artists name, but mid-way through the session I could tell he wasn't into it.  Towards the end of completion, he started adding things to the design that we did not discuss which really pissed me off.  The detail is horrible, there's no contrast whatsoever to signify depth in the design...Another thing that I don't like is that they charge you before you even get the tattoo, so I had to tip the guy before he even started, which is BS.  Tip should be based on how well they do. My cousin and I did a consultation with one of their artist and made an appointment to have our work done. The day finally arrived and unfortunately the artist was unable to make it in to work that day. We wanted to get our tattoos and didn't want to wait so we called and asked them to work us in. No problem. My cousin had her tattoos done by Ryan and they are perfect. My work was done by Jon and he did an amazing job. He had to create something from scratch as our original work wasn't at the shop. Jon got to work and came up with a great design. It's a beautiful flowered piece on my foot. This is my first tattoo and I had no idea it would be so painful. Jon was really patient with me and got the job done.  The shop is clean and everyone is friendly and professional. I walked into Threshold with an idea of what I wanted in my head hoping someone could piece it together perfectly for me. Lucky for me Ryan was able to do that. Ahhhmazing work. I had an awful tattoo on my left shoulder that I wanted covered. Not only did he do a phenomenal job making sure that the entire tattoo was covered and wouldn't be visible but he was able to incoporate it as part of the rest of the tattoo I was wanting from shoulder to hip. Three sessions later I finally have a piece I am proud to show off and no more blobbish mess. Not only is he an exceptional artist, he is also a very easy guy to chat with and makes you super comfortable. I already have him drawing up ideas for my next tattoo. I have found myself an artist for life!The shop itself is extremely clean and the staff are all awesome. My boyfriend actually decided to have some work done there too after seeing my progress and how friendly and accommodating everyone was. Called ahead afternoon of 10/30/10 and very specifically asked if they would do a wedding band tattoo and was told yes. Drove all the way out there only to be told the person who had agreed to do it had changed their mind and refused to do it. Not only did they lose that business but the business of the 2 other people who were with me. We didn't see any other customers during the 15 to 20 minutes we waited to be told no. Why not just say no on the phone? I might have still gone for other tattoos, but they let us get all the way there before deciding not to do the work. I won't go back. Read Less

I came in one evening to see if a very bad tattoo could be fixed. Jon met me at the door and took a considerable amount of time trying to determine what he would be able to do to fix it and then I made an appointment for a couple of weeks out. When my appointment time came, I went in with an ugly tattoo and left with an awesome one. The shop is so clean, and the people are so nice. It was my first tattoo so I'm not exactly sure what would be cheap and what would be expensive but just for a nautical star on my right shoulder I thought $150 was a bit steep. But as aforementioned it was clean, professional, and the tattoo artist was very kind. He understood that this was my tattoo and could accommodate to my slight twitches without a single mistake.
