I had a wonderful experience here getting my two (out of three) tattoos. My first ever tattoo was done by Craig Moore, and I had wanted two blue flowers to represent my grandmothers. He was very confident in his work which he deserves. He was also very nice and patient with how long my tattoo was taking ( he stayed till past close). I had two of my friends there with me as well giving me moral support haha! After all was done, the shop owner gave us fish food to feed the beautiful koi fish that are the size of a small dog! My second experience here was with Collin Rigsby, who did my cactus tattoo! This was a tattoo more for me because any one in my life knows how much I adore cactus. He was very nice and we talked about how he was moving with his wife to a new home. He also gave me some advice on where I should place it. I originally wanted it on my back shoulder, but he thought it would look cool on the opposite arm of my flower tattoo. After the second tattoo I talked with Jack the Piercer about some of the septum jewelry they had. She was very educated of course in everything that has to do with piercings, the jewelry they sell (which is handmade) and cleaning care. Since I already had a septum piercing, she offered to put the septum ring in for me which was very nice. I love my half sleeve by Jessi! I now have my cat, an art deco goddess, the deathly hallows, and significant flowers permanently inked on my body and I couldn't be happier. Here's a quick overview of the process if this is your first big tattoo (otherwise I think they have some walk-in hours): 1) "Request an appointment" on Yelp and the owner will reply asap. 2) At your first appointment, you'll discuss your desired concept and will be assigned the most appropriate tattoo artist. 3) Set up appointments directly with your artist and send them any supplemental info on your tattoo vision. 4) Make a deposit of $150 upon scheduling, which will go towards your session(s). 5) Wait for months for your first appt because the artists are talented and in high demand. 6) Have your body bludgeoned with beautiful artwork forevs.I loved Jessi's style of work so I found it fitting and exciting I got paired with her. My colored half sleeve took 3 sessions (~10-12 hrs total) to finish, and her rate is currently $175/hr. It was well worth it! And touch ups are included, of course. I've been here twice for piercings and have been very pleased both times. Everything is done on a walk in basis which can has worked pretty well for piercing (for tattoos, I've seen multiple walk ins come in with their designs and then be given a time to come back a couple hours later in the day) I've never waited more than half an hour for my services. The piercers are professional and do their job very well - my tragus, helix, and nostril piercings went super smoothly and with minimal pain.My only complaint is that they have super cool jewelry so I've always ended up spending way more than I expected (because I'm greedy, not because they're too pricey - good quality body jewelry is going to be $$$ anywhere you get it). Don't go here for basic piercings, like lobes or outer cartilage. I thought going to a certified place like this would be better than a Claire's/Icing, but boy was I wrong!I called ahead on a Saturday and was told there were 2 people in line so far. I was encouraged to "come on down!" So, I did. The place was full when I got there. The women at the counter were very courteous and clearly explained everything involved in the piercing. What they don't say very clearly on the website is that they only use ball-backed post earrings that have a coating of some kind that prevents any divots (so that your skin doesn't start to grow in it). No butterfly backs allowed. Their earrings are $35 a piece!! Cute, but holy Jesus! I couldn't afford to buy 3 earrings for the piercings I wanted, then pay for the actual piercings, thennnn pay for the solution they want you to use on the piercings ($10), thennnn pay for the follow up visit where they put in shorter posts that you have to pay for. They put you through the wringer. I put my name on the list (1.75 hr wait), ate dinner then came back anyway to maybe just do one of the piercings. I came back 10 minutes early for my allotted time, waited 25 more minutes then just left. I was reassured multiple times that the person ahead of me was just getting their earrings changed, but c'mon.. 2.5 hour wait with 15 minutes over my actual given time?! No thanks. I went to Claire's/Icing the next morning and got all 3 piercings (2nd lobes and 1 cartilage) done with butterfly backs using the gun they have. They have been totally fine for 3 weeks now and I even bought earrings to replace them in a few months. Total of $64.00. Solution was even included. Summary, go here for crazy, strange piercings that Claire's/Icing won't do or if you have sensitivities. The atmosphere was very zen... but pricing and a ridiculous wait time was not worth the "professional" piercing. Read Less

Went in yesterday to get a matching tattoo with my brother, and I have to say this was the greatest tattoo experience I have had yet. The receptionists were very welcoming and there was a little mix up with the art they had vs. what my brother and I wanted but they worked very quickly and diligently to fix the mix up, and apologized multiple times for what happened. All of the artists there were super laid back and extremely nice, and our artist, Charlie Forbes, did an absolutely tremendous job and the piece. Jack the Piercer did my nose a few months ago, told me a bunch of instructions for aftercare before sending me off. I sprayed the inside and outside of my nose 5-6 times a day for the first two months. She told me all about what to do if it swells, that I wouldn't be able to change it out until 8 months, which I expected anyway. I went back for a 4 week check up and this time there was another piercer, who said I could change to a hoop that day. I didn't because I wanted to wait at least a few months, but the conflicting opinions about my nose were definitely confusing. However, I have had textbook healing. No swelling, no bump, no infections, no blood, no crusties. Totally and utterly clean! Now I only need to spray 2x a day. Read Less

I brought my 6 year-old daughter in to have her ears pierced. First, it's hard to find shops that will pierce minors under age 14, and I was glad that they not only would pierce her ears but that their website had tons of information for what paperwork to bring and what to expect. Second, the staff was very friendly, working hard to make my daughter comfortable and asking her what questions she had about the piercing process.Finally, Nick did a great job, pointing out the sterilization to me, explaining each step to my daughter, joking around with her to make her comfortable, and confirming the piercing location for each ear lobe with me. I came in with an idea and an artist (I wish I could remember her name - I think she was the manager?) talked with me about what they could reasonably do and worked with me to design exactly what it was that I wanted. I had very bad experience getting my first tattoo. Johanna the tattoo artist was unfriendly. He got the tattoo print impressed on my wrist. He was in too much rush, he didn't gave me enough time to check the tattoo print before getting inked. After I got my tattoo I realized that the tattoo was upside down. It's no way what I wanted. I had few communication and they help with coverup for my original tattoo. I love my cover up tattoo. I got my nose pierced and the lady who pierced my nose was very friendly, caring and patient. I've been a loyal customer at Leviticus for around a year and a half now. I've been fortunate enough to have gotten 5 piercings done by one of Leviticus' former piercers, Chad. All of my piercings have been great, Chad was such an awesome piercer, he listened to exactly what I wanted and was very thorough about the entire piercing process, and the aftercare process. However, when I returned to last Friday (4/7) to get a simple helix re-piercing I had the worst experience of my life. Jack was the piercer who was doing my piercing that day. I immediately noticed a different vibe from Leviticus than what I had been used to. Upon getting my piercing, Jack, without my consent, changed one of my piercings and then pierced my ear without okaying the location or the jewelry with my first. There was zero communication between them and myself so I had no idea what was being done to me. Then when I went to check out, I was going to be charged double than what I expected so I argued (hated to be that customer but this is my body so I had to be), Jack said they would fix it for me so I went back to the room. This is when things got bad. Jack admitted that they were frustrated with me but "didn't want to take it out on me", I felt them unnecessarily pulling and tugging at my ear After a ton of pain, simply for a jewelry change... I felt a warm, wet, drippy feeling down my scalp, I asked if it was blood and Jack said "you'll be fine". I immediately started shaking and my body went numb. I got home and my friend found a ton of dried blood covering my scalp. I emailed Leviticus explaining what happened the next day and they argued that the blood "wasn't from me bleeding that much", well... Then how did my blood get on my scalp? Hm... The pictures I have posted are what we found after. With Chad being gone, I would not recommend this store to anyone. Regardless of the positive experiences I have had in the past, the one time someone other than Chad pierces my ear, I'm treated horribly and never want to get a piercing done again. This entire experience was incredibly traumatic for me. I cannot believe a store would allow a piercer to be angry when piercing but would also allow for that much blood to come from a piercing. I went in on Saturday for a small tattoo. Tattoo came out great. Craig did a wonderful job. My beef is that the 1 1/2 inch black tattoo ended up being $160. Sorry but that is not reasonable pricing. This is not my first tattoo. I have several tattoos that are a bit larger that I have paid less or tattoos larger and just $20-$40 more than my tattoo I got on Saturday, and these tattoos were done at shops that were just as clean and sanitary. I was thinking of going back for a larger tattoo later down the line but after Saturday, no thanks. Read Less

I would like to start off and say that Craig the artist did a great job. He was not heavy handed. Very precise on the placement of my design which it took a second try to get it right which I appreciate. The tattoo came out very clean. I love it. I also appreciate the advice I got from one of the employees at the front desk. Her suggestion was spot on. That said,I will say I am not new to tattoos. I have almost two dozen tattoos. I have been getting tattooed for not quite 20  years. I have been to various tattoo shops in Minneapolis so I know what is fair and what is not fair in pricing when it comes to tattoos. I definitely know what I am talking about when I say that I feel like I was ripped off on a 1 1/2 inch tattoo (all in black ink) that I received yesterday for $160. I have tattoos from other shops in Minneapolis that are either larger or about the same size and have paid less or about the same price. The other shops I went to were as clean and sanitary as Leviticus so to use the sanitary excuse won't fly with me. The shop is beautiful, clean and the artists are immensely talented but what I paid for my Shou tattoo yesterday was ridiculous. I had a hard time finding a professional piercing shop to have my 5 year old's ears done. Most places only do 8-14 and up. Leviticus usually doesn't do kids under 6, but I asked if we could come and and meet the piercer so he could decide if he felt she was ready. We had an amazing experience! Chad was so patient and kind, and his gentle energy put her immediately at ease. Upon first walking into the shop, my kiddo almost changed her mind, she was overwhelmed by all the pictures and the sounds of the tattoo guns, but Chad talked with her (and directly TO her!), he brought us back to the piercing room and even showed her the autoclave and tools he would use. He let her feel the pinch of the "forceps" and as he talked and showed her around I could feel her grip on my hand relaxing. It was a huge bonus that she got to feed the Koi in the waiting area while the tools and jewelry were sanitized. He and his apprentice ( I didn't catch her name) did a fast and excellent job, he spent a good 10 minutes making sure the piercings would be even and nicely aligned (he even used a caliper lol) and my kiddo, who worked for a month to earn her piercing is SO proud of herself and happy with the results! I got my first tattoo here and I had a great experience. I did not make an appointment, I walked in and was able to get a quote and sketch within 10 minutes. They called in a tattoo artist (Sean) who lived in the neighbourhood just for me so I could get my tattoo that day! The whole process took less than an hour and everyone there was very nice and helpful. The shop minimum is $80, and that's what mine cost. I got a small outline of Minnesota on my upper arm with a small heart where St. Paul is. I am so happy with it and would highly recommend Leviticus!!! Read Less

I got pierced by Jack the other day and they were super awesome! I was pretty nervous as I was getting a sensitive piercing...but Jack talked me through every step of the piercing and made me feel comfortable and safe.  They continued to check in with me to make sure I wasn't feeling faint or dizzy, and in the end I got two super awesome looking new piercings :)  The customer service was awesome, even though the shop was super busy.  There was a short wait, but that's to be expected when doing a walk in. The only con I would mention for this shop is that it did get pretty crowded, so if you're worried about waiting around or on a tight schedule make sure you get there right when they open at 1. I highly recommend getting pierced by Jack.  I have a good number of piercings and they were definitely one of the better piercers I've been to.  Very professional, calm, and experienced. Read Less

My daughter and I came in for piercings - hers in her nose, and mine was a helix. We loved the place as soon as we walked in - very attractive, calming, lots of awesome artwork, and some really big koi! The studio was open and you could see a lot of work being done. We waited only about five minutes before meeting our piercer, Jack. We were immediately impressed at Jack's knowledge and personal attention -- and super coolness. :) Not only was our piercing experience very professional and the quality was impeccable, but it was a really fun. Jack just had a way of making us feel at home, giving lots of information, and just making the entire piercing experience a positive one - and one that we will never forget. My second visit to Leviticus for piercings.   The 1st time I saw Chad (for a nose and daith piercing), who was awesome.  I came back with a friend today and we both saw Jack.  She rocks!!  Great humor, asked a lot of questions to find what we each wanted.  (A nose piercing for my friend and two cartilage piercings for me.)  Jack explained thoroughly,  and was very professional.   As I am a dental professional,  it was awesome to see the same Statim autoclave most offices use.  We also talked about her training and credentials.   I would highly recommend Leviticus and either piercer, but we both LOVED Jack! Second time here..the piercer Chad is one of the better piercers I've had over the years. His attention to the placement of the piercing and communication was excellent. I was VERY happy with the final piercing, and had him do something no piercer had done before...he sat with me after the service to make sure everything was aligned correctly, meticulously cleaned up the area and made sure that before I got up from the table (had laid down for the piercing) that I wasn't going to faint and my adrenaline had come down. Luckily I came in at 3:15 but they said the piercer hasn't showed up yet and they didn't know when he would get there so I left and went to Steady Tattoo and Piercing which was much more professional and I would recommend them over Leviticus. I am only a visitor to Minnesota, so was only able to pick a shop by online research. I narrowed it down to Leviticus.The short review...  I can say I absolutely made the right choice picking Leviticus. No attitudes, nice folk, price was inline with what I was expecting, super clean shop, awesome decor, and great customer service.The long review... I walked-in and had my concept reviewed by Ella at the front desk, she is really nice. She listed to my schedule problems and that I have limited availability. She helped me pick an artist based on my schedule, I went with Opie. And I only had to wait a couple weeks for my appointment. Really it could have been within a week, but I was traveling.I provided several versions of my art within a week of my appointment. I was worried that my changing ideas would cause a problem, but they said not a problem at all.Finally, I arrived for my appointment. I was pretty late to my appointment actually, but nobody had a problem with it and they didn't worry about it at all. I met Opie, he was cool a friendly. He showed me a concept he worked on based on my ideas and it was perfect.Opie was beyond great actually because I was worried that my artwork was not his style and that he might try to steer me another way, which I have had other artists try to do... But he was really supportive about giving me what I want and making certain I was happy with it.Anyway, he got setup, did the deed, and all along the way he checked to make sure I was good. He told me little bits about what he was doing and how it would look, and he was great at talking, not too little and not too much... It was perfect.Also, while Opie was doing his work, I was checking out the other artists in the room, how they interacted with customers, and the work they were doing. It was pretty clear that everybody was nice, customer friendly, doing quality work, and a number of them came by to check out the work being done on me and were really complimentary and supportive. I didn't need any of that, but I loved that it was liked that.Also, being late I failed to eat before I showed-up, and that didn't go well. I got a bit woozy just as the work was being finished. It wasn't horrible, but as soon as I mentioned it Opie and the staff jumped on it and helped me get seated, got me water, a honey stick, and made sure I was good. They were totally on top of it and were so cool about it to which I am grateful.When I got the bill it was totally in the range that was quoted to me, so there were no surprises. Totally happy with the pricing.Anyway, in the end, it was a great experience from end-to-end. I really have only positive things to say about Leviticus. I had my heart set on a specific design in a location that isn't especially tattoo-friendly, and had taken it to 2 other shops previously, neither of whom would give me exactly what I wanted. When I brought the design to Leviticus, everyone there was nice and receptive to my idea, which was a relief in itself. When I came back to actually get the tattoo, my artist Kurt was amazing...he used the exact design I brought in and put it exactly where I wanted it, and it is gorgeous. They've got Japanese Koy fish swimming around and lots too look at. The artists I worked with were great. I had a friend come down from Brainerd and randomly we decided to get tattoos in memorial of my husband. Saturday is THE day. We walked right in and had Aleks and Kurt willing to help us right away. The pricing was AMAZINGLY reasonable, the guys were hella friendly, and the tattoos were superb. My friend got custom designed dog tags and I had simple black lettering. I now live in Charlotte NC, and I will pay the airfare to go back to the Twin Cities just so Zack can ink me again. The shop is amazing and you can't beat the fish!
