I have been a client of Awen's since the mid nineties. He does excellent work in a calming atmosphere. This is not the place to come if you just want to choose a design from a wall of clip art. Awen takes his time and customizes each and every pice of art to fit the person who will be wearing it for the rest of his/her life. When I arrived today there was Prince playing on the stereo and of course I encouraged those fine tunes to continue. Street parking is available and I believe that there is a parking lot across the street that you can pay to park in but I did not notice that until I was walking in. No worries as there is always (free) parking in the neighborhood. Here is the deal. I have been to other shops around the Twin Cities and while I have been happy with the work of others I find myself returning to Awen again and again. Check him out. His prices are fair and you will not have to deal with the teens coming in to have their noses pierced to piss of their parents. And you can listen to Prince. Clean shop. Awesome artist. Takes his time to get it right. Attentive to detail. Super nice and very personable (even bought me a cup of tea during a break!) good music. Art with a point is owned and operated by the very talented Awen Breem. She was recommended to me by a friend who has a great looking tattoo. This was my first (and so far only) tattoo, and I'd been contemplating it for awhile. When I finally settled on a design, of course it was super complicated. We went back and forth via email a few times and then I met with her for a free consultation. She liked the design, but agreed it was a little too detailed. We worked out what size I was comfortable with and she went to work altering the design to fit. She stayed true to the artist's work (I chose an artist from my native Mississippi - Walter Anderson - but Awen does GORGEOUS work. You don't need a design, just an idea!) but altered it to fit my needs. I made an appointment, which was about 6 weeks out, but frankly that makes me feel good about it. First, I got to mull over the design, so I knew I really was into it. Second, if she's that booked out, she must be in demand! There was a woman in there while I was doing my consultation who told me she had been getting work by her for over 10 years! I couldn't be happier with either the finished product OR the experience. She was gracious and comforting while working away on my arm, which put me at ease. Her studio is pretty inviting, with lots of personal touches that let you in on who she is. It's also very clean and she only uses single-use gear. Bottom line - you'll get an incredible tattoo, spend time with a wonderful person, be set out on your way with all the knowledge and A+D ointment you need to care for your new ink, and know that you've been to a reputable place.
