I had Andrew , I’m skeptical and picky and do my research before getting tattood (do to past expierence).. and when it comes to cover ups everyone is so quick to say they can’t do it, or to get it removed some first.. I was thinking anything was going to be dark and just cover over a name but instead my tattoo turned out AMAZING!! I have talked about having my two dogs paw prints/initials and scripture tattooed on me for a few years now. I finally stopped in and chatted with the staff about it asking their advice. Was having a memorial tattoo finished and the font looks like a prison tat when I explained my concerns I was told not to listen to what other people said and that I loved it when he did it but I didn't I had concerns but was told it wouldn't turn out that way it because it was marker versus the ink bummed is all I can say Read Less

Lost touch with my main artist over the years so I googled local shops and looked for some good reviews. I can see why RT has so many. I always do custom ideas, never picked out of a flash book. This requires a lot of patience and vision on behalf of the artist and Ryan did that wonderfully. I tabled a couple pieces I'm working on because they didn't feel right yet. We ended up doing a completely different design than why I had first walked in and Ryan did a fantastic job. Its not the largest piece I've ever had but regardless it was fast! Lines and shading look great! I prefer to find an artist I can share my ideas with and who can see what I'm seeing in my head, then apply some artistic vision to it and get it inked beautifully. Ryan nailed it and I'll definitely be calling him when I'm ready for another. UPDATE: over a year later this piece still looks dark and fresh unlike some of my others which greyed a little after they healed. They definitely do it right at Rockin! Read Less

I had recently lost my sister due to a drunk driver and I knew i wanted something to honor her. I went place to place looking for someone to do the perfect tattoo in remembrance of my sister. No where pleased me.. they either charged to much or they wouldn't give me what i asked for... Gotten a bunch of work done here by various artists, Andrew P. Is the main guy I go to. All super friendly guys, who take their work seriously. They make recommendations and changes to the ideas I bring in. I take their suggestions because I may come in with a concept but I trust their opinion as artists in what to do or not do. I always get a TON of compliments on all the work I've had done by them. I have a little tradition of getting some BBQ from the establishment next door while I'm waiting, and when the need calls for some donuts it's right next door as well, what more could a girl ask for?! Got my first tattoo done on 6/28/14. I heard about this place from a friend who had work done here. The artist who eventually did the tattoo spent about 45 minutes working on a custom design for me, even though I was just a walk in with no prior appointment made. The process took roughly 4 hours from start to finish, with about 2.5 hours being spent on the tattooing. I love the tattoo, it's a beautiful design I will be happy wearing. It is healing well (I think.) Andrew Padilla was my tattoo artist. The facility seemed nice and clean, prominently displays all Department of Health certifications and follows sterile procedures. They have an autoclave and test it regularly. Got some great artwork on the walls to look at while you're getting the work done. I don't know about how tattoo pricing works per se, but I have been told by others that I got mine done at a good price for the time and quality of work. Would recommend to a friend. (Gave it 4 stars because I've never been to any other tattoo shop and can't compare it to other experiences.)Edit: I've had some experience at other shops now. I would say that Rockin' Tattoo is definitely on par with other excellently reviewed Minneapolis tattoo shops on Yelp. I'm keeping the four star review because I noticed there are no female artists. Not to dissuade anyone from going to Rockin', but diversity is nice to see and made me feel more comfortable at other shops. Read Less

I attended one of their Friday the 13th $20 tattoo  events.  Yep $20 for a tattoo!  Yes they were a limited selection but all pretty cool and incorporate the #13. I hadn't had a tattoo in years but heard about this event and figured it would be a good way to break my no ink streak and not my wallet.  Although it was busy, the artists were very organized and were able to accommodate the requests in a timely manner.  Joe did my tattoo, he was very professional and the colors he incorporated are amazing!  He worked with me to even modify and add different colors to the tattoo I picked.  When I'm in need of an ink fix again I will definitely be back to Rockin! Not a good experience at all. Made an appt for 4:00 and my tattoo artist tells me I have to wait because another one of his appointments showed up late. So I sit and wait for an unknown period of time before I finally get up after about an hour and a half and tell him I'll just go somewhere else. My husband and I went in to both get big pieces done. We came in kinda late and didnt expect to get in. Andrew did my husband's chest piece and it is flawless. The place was clean. The guys were nice. Not like the usual obnoxious ego driven tattoo artists. The price was mid range. But ive been to cheaper places and the work reflects the price. Andrew is a true ARTIST. I found Rockin Tattoos by chance one day when I was going for a manicure. I decided I deserved a tattoo much more than the mani, so I went in and was greeted with a smile by Trav. I had some Kanji near my collar bones that I wanted covered up. I had a few ideas, but Trav had even better ones. I now have two beautiful blue roses in place of the Kanji. I brought it in to Travis at Rockin Tattoos and asked him to personalize the design for me with some shading. He did an amazing job catering to my desires with the artwork.
