I went here to get two small tattoos on my fingers as well as my nose pierced all at once. My friend went with me and also planned on getting a tattoo, once she stepped in the store she had a bad feeling (go figure) and backed out. I however, couldn't resist the low prices and gave it a chance. My mistake. I handed over my printed out design that I was very particular about and it ended up in Raul's hands. He very quickly traced over the image and the lines looked terrible and for some reason I just thought he would use it "as a guide" and the real thing would be much straighter. Wrong again. The lines of my design were wonky and uneven, I was embarrassed of my new tattoo. I contacted the shop and luckily they got me in with John who did his best to clean it up a bit for me, which I'm thankful for. Unfortunately for me, I got my nose pierced during the time frame that they had violated health codes. I received a letter in the mail this month (February) from the Michigan Ottawa Department of Public Health stating that "their autoclave, a device used for the sterilization of piercing equipment, was not functioning at the required standard for quality and safety. ... If you received a piercing service which included the use of forceps or clamps, the equipment used may have been exposed to potentially hazardous blood or body fluids and not properly sterilized." Which did not make me feel great about the rest of the shop or my new modifications.
My friend went this month to get some ear piercings done because they were running another deal (probably to get people back in their door.) I informed her of the letter I had received from the department of health and she figured it would have to be "safe" now since they are up and running again. She took her chances and once again was disappointed. We walked into the shop and again Raul was her piercer, she stated the placement of her piercings and the girl behind the counter asked Raul if that was something he could do? He replied with, "maybe" very dryly, which we honestly could not tell if it was a joke or not and had concerns if he could actually do the piercings properly or not. The girl responded with "That's just Raul." We sat down and discussed if this was a big enough red flag or not and my friend ended up filling out the paperwork. Once we were in the piercing area my friend again stated the piercing that she wanted and Raul marked her up, she took the final look and it was nowhere near the piercing sight she had asked for..and he began to tell her how every chart on the internet is different and what she was asking for was not the name of what she actually wanted. At this point I was ready to up and leave but her money was already locked in (payment + tip, because they make you pay it all beforehand.) He finally got the location correct and ends up stabbing himself with the piercing needle.........he then tells us how he normally only does that 1-2 times a year but just this year he has already done it 4 times..................It was one hell of an experience, there's plenty more I could say but I'll just leave it with, we are never going back there, you get what you pay for.
