Let me start by saying Mile Bullock (owner) is, by far, the most talented artist around here.   His work is impeccable.   I've been going to him since before he open Black Rose.  Haven't gone anywhere else since.    My wife goes to him, hell my kids go to him for work.   Excellent work.   And on a side note, he's a huge neat freak, and cleanliness in his shop is way above any other shop I've been to. I took my cousin here for a nose piercing on her birthday, and it was definitely a mistake. The staff was extremely rude, and made both of our (first) piercing experiences sour. Staff was sarcastic and unhelpful with every question asked, very rushed, and unprofessional. Also expensive. We didn't complain, and my cousin was of course overly nice because she didn't want to cause drama, but both of us were very disappointed with the customer service. I funded the trip and gave the piercer a tip despite his actions against me, but it was clear that I was unhappy, and the owner heard the interaction but did nothing. My sister left a very respectable review on Facebook, for other peoples sake, not for the owner and his minion to meet us with hatefulness, personal attacks and zero sympathy. We were told that I was the problem. No offering to remedy the situation. It was my mistake to trust a shop with only 8 reviews on google. Getting a piercing or tattoo can be very unnerving for many people, and it's important for the manager and artist to be utmost considerate, especially when you are a paying customer. Think twice. I called the shop a few days in advance to see if my wife and I could each get a small piece done on our leg. I asked if we could walk in or if we should make an appointment. James said as long as we made it in between 4-5 we could get it done. I asked who I was speaking too so they could do the work. So he told me his name. We arrived at 430 and were turned away. We were asked if we had made an appointment and we explained we were told we could come in during that window. He said sorry he didn't remember that and that he couldn't do a tattoo anyway because his young daughter was there. We scheduled our afternoon around my previous conversation with James and were met with a very unprofessional setting. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. Read Less

I went to the black rose for the first time on 6/2/17 as a walk in customer and was greeted by James and Mike. Who both began helping me to decide on a design for my tattoo, they where very patient with me. James ended up drawing me a custom piece that was better than anything i had found and was exactly what i had in mind. I have had work done at some other shops and this was by far one of the best ones i have been to, the staff was great, the price was really good and i ended up with a custom piece of art instead of some out of the book tattoo. Mike did an amazing job on my watercolor fox! For my first tattoo he helped me stay calm, even when my leg wanted to twitch. I let him mess with the style I was thinking of and now it is one of a kind! I will for sure be going back there soon. And my dad and roommate wants to go now too! Read Less

I chose this shop based on awesome reviews to have my Passed away Dads handwriting done on my wrist. Rob did my tattoo and was awesome. It wasn't an off the wall tattoo but means so much to me and when I cried when I saw it, he was so great. 100% going back soon and have already referred him to other friends! Read Less

I have come here now for my last two photo/realist tattoos. It was recommended to me by another friend.  After bouncing around from tattoo shop to tattoo shop and never been amazed with work that I've had done previously, I now have a place that I'll only frequent. I had my work done by the owner Mike,  both times I've been in for work and for counsel on what I wanted all the other employees/artist have been more than pleasant.  There isn't an air of arrogance here that you find with many artists. The prices are on par with most talented shops, you get what you pay for. If you want a cheap tattoo you get a cheap tattoo and more than likely you regret said cheap tattoo.  One of the reviews I read a patron complained about not getting in on Friday the 13th for the shops special. I was there that day getting a big detailed tattoo from noon to 630. And the shop was very busy with patrons coming in and calling as you can imagine when there are specials on tattoos for 13 and 31 dollars.  I was at the front booth closest to the lobby and could hear all interactions with customers. And I heard employees tell customers on phone that the specials were first come first serve.  Although I can't honestly say I was not hanging on every word of every interaction that took place that day, after 3 hours of drilling on my shin I was trying to find my "happy place " I can say that it was the burst that I've ever seen a shop as you can imagine with walk ins and phone calls. And you can't fully judge a shop on day that's as hectic as a Friday the 13th sale.    I can't say again how pleased I am with the work that I've had done here, and can NOT recommend this place enough to all my friends that are looking for work done. This is the most unprofessional tattoo parlor I've ever stepped into, granted, I have not stepped into a crazy amount of shops, but I've put my foot in a fair share. Today, being Friday The 13th, my girlfriend and I saw a promotion involving $13 & $31 tattoos being hosted by Black Rose.We were eager to get one considering we've been talking about it all week!I gave them a call at about 4:00 and asked them if I got there by 4:30 if they think my girlfriend and I would be done by 7:00 (I had work), I was told we would both be done long before 7. I understand that more people could walk in which would alter the time, but I still got there at about 4:35 and there were 2 people in front of us. The guy at the front desk was far from friendly nor was he very helpful and it seemed like the artists spent more time conversing than actually tattooing given the fact that by 6:00 only 1 of the 2 people ahead of us were done. Mind you it is a $13 promo which means the tattoos are fairly small. It was absolutely unacceptable the amount of time it took, especially since there were multiple artists there. When we left, I politely told the guy at the front desk that I had work and had to cancel my appointment. He literally did not say a word other than "okay" and proceeded to go about his other business. I don't want to bash on this parlor because it may have potential or may actually be a fairly respectable establishment, but from my one (and only) experience, I was extremely displeased to say the least at the wait time, lack of information, rudeness, and unprofessionalism. I have been coming to Black Rose Tattoo Shop for a little over 6 months now and I have never left with a negative experience. I have gotten numerous piercings from Eric Holmes and a few tattoos from Rob Lloyd. I love the vibe in here. I've never come or left feeling uncomfortable which is a major factor when you're allowing someone to put something permanent on/in your skin. I definitely recommend this shop to anyone in the area.
