I drove 2 hours from Howell so me and my friend could get tattoos together at 51. I have been seeing the same artist in Howell for 7 years, and was very hesitant to get a tattoo from someone else, but Jimmy was super awesome. I'm from out-of state  (KY)   Called to see if I could get an appointment for Saturday (July 23rd), (which was the last day of our vacation in Muskegon).   She told me Jimmy had somebody that canceled, and she would book me from 1 til 3:30.  I said I would be there on Wednesday (July 20th) at 1 to show them the art I was wanting done.    I show up at 1:10 and much to my surprise, the person that canceled, re-booked and I got sent packing.I've got work done at Forever Ink in Grand Rapids, and they do great work.  Wish I would have called there, but we were staying right at the ShoreLine Hotel.  Less than a mile from 51.Never again will call 51, and we make 2 trips a year to the Great Western MI Read Less

You can go anywhere you want, however Area 51 is my place to go for tattoos. Real artists, who care about what goes on you. Clean clean CLEAN! I have worked in healthcare for 20 years and would go no place else. If you care about what and where you get ink or piercing done, and you want artists that care too, then go to Area 51. Read Less

I would NEVER go any where else for my tattoo needs in West Michigan. Not only have they been around for a long time they are the only shop in town that looks professional when you walk in the door. They have art work hanging all over the walls and obviously care about the cleanliness of their shop. Which is kind of a big deal when your asking someone to poke you with needles many, many times. The artists are friendly and helpful. The owner Jeff has done some of my tattoos, he's very easy to talk to and straight up when it comes to what works and what doesn't for a tattoo. I've also been tattooed by Chrissy who has an amazing attention and eye for detail. I guess there are two newer artist there that i don't have any experience with but i'm sure they have the skills.
