A friend brought me to D when I was 18 to fix a tattoo I'd gotten from another "artist" and I left with far and away better work than when I came in. You can find me in his book of scratches/coverups. I returned a few years later to see D, specifically, for a tattoo I wanted done right the first time and was not disappointed; 8 years & counting it still looks great. Speaking as a teenager/young woman I can say I always felt totally at ease, and I would never take the word of someone who doesn't even know the guy- professionally or otherwise- who's on some self-righteous smear crusade. D's a professional, talented artist with a spotlessly clean shop; I highly recommend and wouldn't hesitate to go back. Read Less

Had a cover up done by D little over a year ago. He did a great job, exceeded my expectations. We did two sessions, first one 4 hrs, second one 6 1/2 hours, both times D was very professional and easy to talk to. Other artist in the shop also very nice guy. The cover up turned out amazing, hard to tell its a cover up, people dont even know when I show them. I went to a few different shops before I found Sinister, most wanted me to do laser removal first, D did not even hesitate when I first met him about doing the cover up. Really stand off-ish staff that made me feel like they just didn't even want me there. And they didn't care to explain the process of getting my first tattoo at all, even after I asked. Ended up talking me into putting $20 down on a down payment for the drawing which would then be deducted from the total cost of the tattoo.I ended up getting it done elsewhere for a better price, with a better atmosphere. Went back to get my $20 back, seeing as they had yet to do anything besides write my name down in their schedule book, and they refused, and tried to shrug it off, and shift blame amongst themselves.Don't go to Sinister.Just horrible service. I don't even know where to start. Not only is my tattoo disappointing but it has nothing to do with the theme I wanted but I felt obligated to get the work because I already payed 100.00 for a deposit just for a drawing from the owner. I gave him an idea and he just did his own thing and threw in a demon which also btw I thought was custom but then went through his portfolio and realized it all was the same face but in different scenarios. I thought I was getting a good deal with his hourly price until he started taking several smoke brakes and smelt very bad when he came back. Not to include the shop manager was incredibly rude and laying on the couch smoking a hookah pipe inside. And although it seems harmless it also looks unprofessional like he's smoking inside. The manager was very short and anti-social. And made often times had nothing good to say and hung up on my daughter. My daughter felt very uncomfortable around him and both the owner when she was getting her tattoo on her ribs. They were very scarily gawking over their aggressively painted red walls and bothering her during the tattoo saying inappropriate things like, "you like it don't you" mind you I signed for her and she was only 17. Needless to say I was absolutely disgusted with the experience and recommend any business to Intricate Decor. Jason Rhodes the owner there fixed my tattoo and for a fair price. Read Less

Got my first tattoo here and am more than willing to go back! The staff there was nice and very friendly. I can't remember the artist's name, but he was super excited about giving me the tattoo. I was a walk-in, didn't have an appointment, so I got pretty lucky that they had an artist open. Overall it was a great experience, the price for the tattoo was reasonable and like I said the artist did an awesome job! It's been about 4 months since I got it and it turned out very nice! Shop was very clean and the equipment was well kept and sterile. It may be in a college town, but it's a great shop. Read Less

Myself and two friends went in and got the same anagram tattoo designs, but in different areas of our bodies. Both of my friends have minor screw ups that you would only know if you knew the original word design, however, mine is completely unreadable. When you look at the tattoo right side up is is supposed to say "Sisters" and when you look at it upside down it says "Friends".  You can read the "Friends", but when you look at it right side up it looks like it says "Spters". The "i" and "s" are connected and shouldn't be and the two S's are supposed to be swirled and are not. Owner gave me half of my money back and offered to fix it with peroxide once tattoo is healed, but I've talked to other tattoo joints in the Detroit area that said they have never heard of using peroxide. To me that doesn't sound safe.ON THE OTHER HAND, I have heard good things about Sinister Productions from family members that have gone there multiple times and from another tattoo place in Mt. Pleasant that said Jim does an amazing job.  If you do decide to go there, I do NOT recommend Peyton!!  Cool guy, but did a HORRIBLE artist. Read Less
