I've been going to Division (Tom is the guy I use) for about a year-and-a-half.  He was referred by my nephew, who took his life in 2015.  I've always loved his tattoos.  I asked him where he goes or who he used and he said "Tom at Division," so after my nephew's passing, I went to see Tom and got a terrific mid-size tat done for my nephew, and he even did a fantastic job in a similar size for my dad.  Actually, I'm seeing him again tomorrow for yet another memorial tattoo for my estranged husband.  Personally, I'd highly recommend Division and Tom to anyone who asks.  I've not had the experiences the other posters did but, from my perspective, they've always been polite and professional. I don't understand how Division only has one star. I love Divison. I have two tattoos from Rich. They look great. I explained what I wanted and he gave me just that. He's pretty fast, but that does not affect the quality. I've seen the other artist work and they are also very amazing. Definitely recommend. I've been following Tom on Instagram for a while now. He does amazing work. I decided it was time I got a tattoo from him. So, I messaged asking if he had any free time that day. It just so happened he did. I went down to the parlor, he drew me up an original design and about an hour and a half later I walked out with an awesome tattoo. It was my FIRST tattoo and he was so incredibly kind and patient with me and took the time to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. 5 sessions, almost 11 hours, full color. Great artists, I've gone here twice for a half sleeve and chest piece and was not disappointed in the slightest. Tom does some amazing work, as do the other artists in the shop. If you want a great tattoo, especially a traditional style tattoo, you'd be dumb not to go here. Read Less

First off I have to say that nobody has smoked in the tattoo shop since 2009 so please disregard that last review published.As far as sterilization goes, this is one of the cleanest shops I've ever seen.I have gotten more than 10 tattoos from division since 2004 and I have to say that everyone of them still looks brand-new! The work he did five years ago was great, but his quality has diminished considerably because the leg piece he did in March 2013 has significant blow-out. I'm actually in the process of having the entire thing lightened with a laser so it can be covered by another (higher quality) artist.  I did bring the problem to Rich's attention and told him I was planning laser treatment.  He offered to cover the blow-out by adding background around the tattoo (more work by him? no thanks), but offered no refund for low quality work. I walked in to get a tat and the tattoo artist was standing inside, smoking a cigarette.  Would you want your surgeon smoking in your operating room?  I think not!  Though this comparison may be a bit extreme, I'd rather be safe then sorry. Read Less

My husband and I both recently had tattoos done here by Johnny and he did an amazing job! We keep getting compliments on the work he did. This was my first tattoo and my husband's second. They have great portfolios by all the artists there and really helped us customize the ideas we had for what we wanted. For the quality of work done I think it's a great price. I'm already planning out what I want for my next tattoo and I will absolutely go back to division for it! Read Less

I've lived in the Detroit area all of my life. I started getting Tattooed 12 years ago when I turned 18. In those 18 years I've visited(and got work done) from all of the Tattoo shops around Oakland & Wayne Counties. Lets face it, most Tattoo Artists fit there 'Stereo Type"". Finally, I found a shop that thrives on Custom Work with Artists without Ego's. My wife and I were overwhelmed with the service and the Quility of Art produced here. I recomend this shop to anyone searching out Custom Artists or An Exotic Piercing. These three will surprise and please anyone.
