My experience here was the worst. Well, I don't hate my tattoo, so things could be worse. But since my tattoo only required basic skills, this review is based on our experience. I hated my experience here, and will never go back or recommend this place. So that's where this one-star is coming from. We just wanted to get simple, matching wrist tattoos. Maybe that was the problem. This business seems geared toward customers who are heavily tattooed (or aspire to be) and are interested in original designs created by the employees. Whatever the reason, our artist treated us with contempt from the start. We should have walked out, but we were required to make a deposit, had an appointment (on our anniversary), and we had been planning this for a long time. So we stayed. Bad call! The artist (Jef) was a really angry, condescending guy from the get-go. He had strong opinions. His feedback gave us pause, and was even appreciated - THE FIRST TIME. But when our opinions differed, he wouldn't accept anything less than full control. He ignored our input regarding size, style, and placement. He acted like he had put waaaayy too much work into creating 2 different options already. Even though I can't believe it took him more than ten minutes to create them. One was XI XI XI . The other, XI XI WWXI. Small and in black. That's it.When we tried to politely share our feelings on the drawings he presented, like "That's a lot bigger than I imagined it," "Do we need lines across each number," and even "I am not sure it's straight," each concern was met with a heavy sigh and a reason that his way was best. He wouldn't let us see a smaller option, saying "I have other things to do tonight," and "I have already put too much work into this." We were out the shop in just 40 minutes with 2 tattoos that cost $140. So I don't think we were over the top with our questions or requests. He could have even finished with us faster if he wasn't so engrossed in Tron. Tron is probably why he continued to refer to us both as teachers, even after I stated that I am a secretary and my partner told him she is a social worker. LOLThe thing that sent Jeff over the edge (before and after tattooing us) was that we wanted our wrist tattoos to be done facing us, which his is upside-down in tattoo land. (And thus enraged Jef.) We understood. He was very clear. Then he was clear again. And yet again. Since he was so pushy and we weren't budging, I mustered up my assertiveness and mentioned that 95% of the inspiration photos of wrist tattoos we'd seen online were also done "upside-down." Not trying to challenge his infinite wisdom. Just explaining AGAIN that we had done some research, were absolutely certain, and would be satisfied with our choice. (Also trying to pleeeeease end this uncomfortable, aggressive lecture.)That's when he really kind of flipped out! He got rude, loud, and unprofessional. He compared us to "stupid 18 year olds," and our tattoos to "tramp stamps," and nothing he would want to be associated with. I think that's the bottom line - Jef is not the kind of guy who wants to do tattoos like ours. Which is fine! Just maybe tell customers that right away next time, so they can give their money to a business that won't belittle them and ruin what was supposed to be a special day/experience! Now, I didn't expect to be treated like I was at a spa or anything. But this was weird & unprofessional, even if low standards for customer service are acceptable for this type of business. (Are they?) While he was going off on us, the shop got silent and the other 2 employees went into another room. He still hadn't bandaged my wife, so we were stuck. When we left, one of Jef's coworkers even apologized to us for Jef's behavior. That apology was nice. It's part of the reason I held off in reviewing this place. I tried to give Jef the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he is getting divorced, I thought. Or maybe he just quit smoking, IDK. I planned to just forget I ever met him, and try to salvage our night. But then my wife wrote a review here on Yelp, and someone from this business wrote a sassy, mocking comment in response. I've never seen a business owner on Yelp react like such a bully! I guess I shouldn't be so shocked. After all, the person is a friend, coworker or relative of Jef's. But this made me wonder... perhaps the reason we aren't seeing any low (or even moderate) reviews of this business is because they try to shame low reviewers into deleting their reviews? Possibly the handful of stellar reviews are from friends or employees? Something seems shady.I'd like to end this review with something positive. I can say this: If you are one of those people who likes to spend your money at places famous for servers who are rude and mean, you should totally go to this guy for your next tattoo. Seriously. Ask him for a butterfly! ;-) Read Less
