Buyer beware. This piercer should have his certificate removed. A month ago I went in for a double nose piercing. I already had an existing hole and he took it upon himself to just make two brand new holes instead of following my request to use the original. He was just supposed to be “stretching” my existing hole so the hoop would fit, and instead shoved a BLUNT object though my nose to pierce it- Resulting In THREE holes in my nose! everything is so messed up. I could also mention how he commented many times how it was as if I was having a midlife crisis.. JERK!! I’m 33 and I’ll do what I want... NOT COOL!!! Not even a month out in one of the balls fell off of the hoop. I went back in there today and he would not even have the decency to come up and talk to me because I had my baby in there. Strapped into a stroller. Not making a peep— BUT, it WOULD be ok for me to take the baby back into his room if the babies ears were getting pierced. So please tell me how this makes any sense? I have heard many terrible things about this establishment. But chose not to believe them and find out for myself. I walked in today without an appointment after having an unpleasant experience at another place. First, Ashton at the front desk was amazing making sure that we got exactly what we wanted. She was so helpful and great to work with. Dom did my actual work and he did an amazing job. He also was professional but also super easy going and fun. The tattoo looks amazing. Terry worked on my brother and his tattoo also came out amazing. We will come back again and request both of them. From my previous experience of dating someone who owned a shop and knowing the rules and regulations....they are spot on with it all. I feel like my brain is about to beat out of my head. I miss the music that is typically playing here. This hip hop mess makes me feel like I should be roller skating in 1995. I do not come for nostalgia...I very much appreciated the metal that I was able to relate with that they used to stream here...maybe next time I'll make sure I bring my headphones... or just find another shop that plays more appropriate music. Honestly this is my new go-to for my piercings. I went last Tuesday with a friend for the 2 for $30 or 4 for $50 between friends deal and I got 3 piercings (2 third lobe and a conch) for $45. The best part is this place is not sketchy at all. I could tell they were clean and professional and they were able to get my friend and I in very fast. Love the atmosphere, but some of the staff at the Plainfield location have a tendency to come off as rude or condescending which made me feel kind of uncomfortable. But I will say that Ashton, who works behind the front desk, is wonderful, SUPER helpful, and willing to answer any questions you have. If anything, she made me feel better about being there. I got my first piercing yesterday. (My navel) and it was a very pleasent experience. Staff were all very nice and willing to help. This review is solely for piercing. Went in on an impulse to get my cartilage and lobe done. Front desk was efficient and accommodating. The process was fast and as pain-free as it could get. Just got my medusa done by Chris. He was an absolute sweetie! Super friendly when we met, and very deliberate with the piercing. He took his time placing it to make sure it was completely centered (which I obviously really appreciate) and was very detailed with aftercare. I was very impressed- especially for the price. I don't even want to rate this place. The lady at the front desk was amazing. Loved her. Nothing against her at all. But the lady who did my tattoo. I cannot even believe it. When I got to see my final result it was, unfinished, crooked and blurry. I can't believe this tattoo artist could let me walk out of the shop this way. I would have called and ask it be redone but honestly I didn't want her to do even more damage. I've been to this location several times. In the last 2 tattoos I've gotten I have been completely disrespected. The artists act like they are better than you and the last tattoo I got was crooked, shaky, rushed, and completely unprofessional. Very displeased. Sent photo ideas, went into the shop, made appt., gave a deposit. Injured my back that day. Called to reschedule appt, (open ended) after having xrays, MRIs, etc. Asked for an email or callback to see how the art was coming along. Never got one. Wonderful place! The staff are inviting, friendly and knowledgable. I got an industrial piercing done here and they made sure to go over the proper care for healing. The store is bright, clean, and as a previous commenter mentioned, private rooms. Andrew did my piercing and again I have to say just how friendly everyone was. Screaming needle is hands down the WORST tattoo/piercing parlor in the west Michigan area. Most people think "wow screaming needle is great because their prices are low, they're sterile and they have two for Tuesday!" Well that is not the case. My friend went to simply get her nose pierced by Melissa. My friend pointed out exactly what she wanted and where she wanted it. Melissa did not comply, she said the hoop would hug her nose and be what she wanted. She proceeded to pierce my friend without warning, after my friend said "No, I am not ready." This is not the first horrible experience we've had at screaming needle. I want to educate everyone and explain my horror stories about this terrible terrible business ruining west Michigan. A year ago I went to screaming needle to get my big toes tattooed and my inner lip tattooed. I didn't recognize first but once my friends told me they informed me that they did not change the needle between getting my toes tattooed and my inner lip. This place needs to be shut down. I got my belly button pierced here almost two weeks ago now. At the recommendation of some coworkers who had theirs done here. It's healing nicely and looks really cute! The woman who pierced me was very nice and answered all of my questions before piercing. It was $25 for a gem studded belly bar. They gave me care instructions and got me in right away without an appointment. I was told it doesn't really hurt but for me it did. Quite painful in fact. I almost passed out and almost threw up. But they all took good care of me and made sure I was fine before I left. It was all very sanitary and private. I'd definitely recommend it to others! Read Less

Don't get your nose pierced here. I got my nose pierced here fairly recently at Screaming Needle and I went to Kitten Flower Boutique in Eastown Grand Rapids for some new studs. Luckily the staff at Kitten Flower was far more knowledgeable about the piercing and informed me that my the staff at Screaming Needle pierced my nose at the wrong angle and location. Also after examining my piercing they realized that a left nostril stud was placed in my right nostril. Which would explain the irritation on the outside of my nostril. So now I need to eventually get my nose repierced in order to heal properly and so I can wear a hoop without looking funky. Such a waste of money. I found this place on yelp, 3 blocks from my house. Went in and checked the place out. The people were all very cool and friendly, not pretentious or snobby. They had me review the artists work and I chose Mike  aka Lil Mike. I have had work done by 6 artists in the past. I have never met a cooler, nicer tattoo artist than Mike. I asked him to work and add on to an existing piece. He spent a lot of time prepping and getting the outline on right. He even fixed a couple spots from the last guy, which is pretty damn cool in my opinion.  You could tell he really takes pride in his work. He was friendly and we joked about a lot of things. We took a break which is nice when your getting inked.   One other thing that is surprising to me is that when Mike was tattooing me, it barely hurt, not that I mind the pain. Recently my husband and I drove up from Battle Creek to check out the shop and possibly get a tattoo. The shop is well kept and clean and the staff is friendly, courteous and professional. I had an idea in mind and Jeff and Chris jumped right in to help me find what I was looking for. Jeff refined the design and worked with the color until it was exactly what I wanted. The final product was amazing and exceeded my expecations! My husband got a grey and black piece of a wizard that it so realistic I'm afraid it might cast a spell on me!! its very hard deciding where to go with so many shops all over the place. I've heard horror stories on art, piercing and cleanliness. When I found these guys I was sold.
