This shop is amazing. I cannot stop raving about how great the tattoo artist Sarah was. I was almost in tears when she showed me the the sand dollar, and bouquet of herbs I wanted... she took the designs I found, and added her spin to it! Clean, professional, amazing customer service. From start to finish, my experience was awesome. If you did not know, this is a female run business, and mostly females work there. It was really obvious when we walked in based on the ambiance. This is not your stereotypical tattoo parlor. I  recently was referred here by Mos Eisley Tattoos, where i use to get all of my piercings (they no longer offer them). The building is super neat! very clean and very cool architecture. lots of jewelry choices and reasonable pricing. multiple ways to pay and tip! George was my piercer and he was super thorough with all the steps and instructions on what he was doing and how the healing process would be. it was also very convenient that i walked in on saturday and they got me in on sunday! yes, ladies and gents, a shop that is open for walk ins on a sunday! if i decide to change or replace my current jewelry, i will be returning to this shop! thanks again guys! My mom and I stopped in for some ear piercings without having an appointment. We got lucky and Nichole was able to chat with us right away and snuck us both in around one other jewelry removal that she had scheduled. Nichole was so great, very knowledgeable and helpful and made us very comfortable every step of the way! I had been waffling back and forth to get my first piercings, so I sheepishly dragged myself into HtG to see Nichole and get my ears done.Wow, was she nice, friendly, knowledgeable and reassuring. She asked questions, explained my options, explained the safety and hygiene steps that would be taken at each step to reassure me.  She was amazing and I can't say enough nice things about her. The process was (relatively) painless, quick, and I'm totally pleased with the experience.The one downside (and it is SO minor that I refuse to ding the score for it) is that it's a bit confusing how to find the door to get into the building! :) It's actually a small two-step-up off to the left of the main entrance. Hidden gem!. Went here to get a new tragus earring because another from somewhere else was bothering me terribly bad. One of the piercing owners (George) was VERY helpful. He is awesome!!. Very thorough with everything. Took very good care of me. Should I get any more piercing I would most definitely go to him... Parking is horrible ....but worth the great customer service. Got my kiddo's ears pierced here. Professional, clean, by the book, kind, and very accommodating. Profoundly respectful of my child. They reiterated to my child that her body was her own and that if at any time she wanted to stop, they'd stop immediately, no problem. The piercings are just right, and healing well. I highly recommend this place for getting your kid's ears pierced. Not that much pricier than a store. But piercing with a needle heals so much better than with a gun in every way. My wife had a great piercing experience here so I decided to try and get some ink done. I spoke with Kelsey Havel and was happy with the discussion so I lined up an appointment. Made a special trip to Grand Rapids with my wife (45 minute drive) and the artist cancelled the appointment because she was ill. I was let down, but appreciated her reasoning and wouldn't want to get tattooed by a sick person anyway. Months went by, I think she moved, and then I saw a post on Instagram that she was doing consultations in GR. I called, a consult wasn't needed because we had already discussed the piece, so I schedule an appointment (6 weeks out). I have since moved further away (1.5 hours), but was happy to make the trek, again. Before I left the house I decided to call Honest to Goodness to confirm my appointment. They could not confirm, but promised to have Kelsey call me back. To be fair, someone from Honest to Goodness returned my call in 30 minutes. More bad news. Apparently she is sick AGAIN and would have to cancel. I'm done!Honest to Goodness is a great piercing shop, but my opinion is that they have not made wise choices in selecting reliable tattoo artists. Came to Honest to Goodness to get my nostril pierced by George. I was a tad nervous, as it was my first piercing ever, but there was no reason to be worried! George was very helpful. He reassured me by going through jewelry options, aftercare, and the piercing process. Their jewelry selection is huge, and my piece has a lifetime warranty. Had to wait on Kaelyn's list for 2 years before I had to call THEM to wait another few months for a consult. Got one consult in and scheduled a second consult for later as she drew stuff up and 2 tattoo days. Showed up for the second and due to unforseen circumstances she wasn't able to make it in, which is totally forgivable in my book. What's not forgivable is not hearing anything for the next month with my first tattoo day fast approaching. Kept calling and stopping by getting told it she was working on it still. So I'm not exactly sure what I was going to be shown had she been able to be there for the second consult...This went on and on. And mind you, this is my first tattoo, I'm not confident about this to begin with. Let alone not seeing any sort of artwork until the day before it was supposed to be permanently on my body. And that was only because I stopped in for I think the 5th time and left my email so I could try to see SOMETHING before the day. And needless to say it looked kind of rushed and not very close to what I had asked for. I felt bad doing it, but I canceled day of because I was not about to put that on me and we'd have to start from scratch to get it right which would mean dealing with the same experience all over again. George is the best. I've gotten 3 piercings by him, and he helped me out with 2 more that were from a different shop. He pierced my Monroe in 2015 and my Rook last year, and they are 100% perfect; perfectly placed and I had no issues. Just a couple days ago he repierced my tongue because the other shop I mentioned pierced it way crooked and the placement just wasn't right. It barely even hurt this time and I can feel a major difference in the placement. The other shop also pierced my navel with jewelry that was too short, so George fixed that for me and gave me a "floating navel" to make healing easier. The other shop didn't even mention that as an option. Finally, he talked with me and gave me advice on a bump by my tragus piercing, also from the other shop, which was very helpful. This is where I'll say the only reason I went to a different shop is because I was living in Massachusetts and didn't know when I'd be back. Otherwise, I don't think I'll ever want to go anywhere else for a piercing. Honest to Goodness is very clean and professional and lucky to have such awesome piercers! Thank you George! Read Less

After looking through all most every tattoo website in GR, I came across Mark at Honest to Goodness. His work looked amazing so I had to set up an appointment. Amazing! I had always wanted a tattoo, but didn't really know what I wanted until my Grandson passed away.  I knew immediately that I wanted a Hungry Caterpillar tattoo, since it was his favorite book, and also the theme for his first birthday party. I went to another tattoo shop in town, where they dismissed me, and told me that there was no way that they could make my tattoo look like the illustration.  I went to Kaelyn on the recommendation of a friend.  When I went in for my consultation, Kaelyn was very kind, helpful and understanding.  The day I went in to have it done, I was blown away by her sensitivity, and the amount of time she spent getting my tattoo to look exactly like the illustration I had given her from the book. This is one of the best tattoo shops in the U.S., I got my elbow and upper arm done by Tiffany and she is my favorite artist. Currently I live in LA and wish I could visit her instead of trying to find a shop here. Tiffany is an amazing, unique artist, and very sweet. I'll admit, I am a big baby when it comes to pain. The worst.Still, I NEEEEEEEEEEEEEED a space tattoo. I have been dreaming of it for a dozen years or more, and it's happening. I spoke with Tiffany about what I was looking for, and the style I like. She made me a fabulous moon. But, I am such a chicken, I need to get the rest of my space tattoo in more sittings.Tiffany is so sweet. I am glad I met her, she seems like a really awesome person, AND an incredible artist. She has been wonderful. Even another tattoo artist in town said for the style I am looking for with this large scale tattoo, Tiffany is the best around. When another artist says she's better, that is a incredible recommendation! The shop is so cool. It is in a haunted old building, and the Honest to Goodness people have worked hard to preserve the integrity of this cool, antique, space. Something that was especially nice for me is that I was able to look out the window at the ballet company for the duration of my tattoo. It was cute to see the little dancers walking in and out if the facility in their little tutus, holding on to their mommas hands. Naturally, with all of these window, the natural light is superb on the wood floors and high ceilings.
