I'd give them 0 stars if I could. I asked about a tattoo very nicely, and they were EXTREMELY rude about it, told me they couldn't give me a tattoo that was "upside down", although that was what I wanted, because I wanted the words to face me. Even though I have another tattoo with a letter that is facing me. They told me they wouldn't do it, which is fine, but they were being extremely disrespectful about it. I posted a review on their Facebook page and then they proceeded to block me, like children. I will continue going down to Grand Rapids to get my piercings and tattoos done, and I will not talk positively about this place. So ridiculous. Read Less

Sonya Grennell is THE tattoo artist in Michigan. She's got a bit of a waiting list and it is beyond worth it. She is an incredible artist. Living in Detroit now, I'll still be making the 3 hour drive for Sonya's magic. And BTW, the rest of the artists there are amazing as well. Read Less

I have gotten four tattoo done in the past year. Shawn Flagg was the one that did every one of them. I will never go anywhere else to get a tattoo. This is the best shop. Period. My artist is Sonya and I can't imagine having a better experience. Not only is she a great artist she's a freaking awesome person to chat with while she works. Her assistant and piercer extraordinaire Jess is great and always helpful. Everyone else I've come into contact with has been great (Ryan,Shawn. Etc) and they each have their own style they excel at. I can't recommend this place enough!!! Sonya is fabulous and worth the wait! She worked with me on a coverup piece and really understood what I wanted - she was extremely patient with me during the whole process. ***Left a review awhile back, but I wanna update it*** I wish there was a rating higher than five!!! The staff here is absolutely amazing! Jess has done a majority of my piercings (10 out of 12) and I wouldn't not go to anybody else unless they worked at light touch. Everyone is super helpful and nice and I really don't understand how this page has gotten anything less than 4 stars. I truly believe this place deserves an award for most professional business. As for the tattoo... artists, Jesse has done both of mine, my second one was very sentimental to me, because it was meant to cover up my self harm scars. Jesse talked me out of doing this small tattoo that really wasn't planned out very well, and drew me up this beautiful Phoenix. I was beyond happy with it and it is absolutely beautiful. My family drove here from out of town to get my sister's tragus pierced because I suggested this place to them. First off I tried to use a 2/$40 piercing coupon that I had (it was on a saturday), and they said those coupons could only be used on Ferris students, even though it doesn't specify that ANYWHERE on the coupon. Secondly, since my sister is only 15 we needed some extra identification which is no big deal- we already anticipated that. We provided her birth certificate..., a photo identification of her, and our mom's ID. Apparently that wasn't enough, just because my sister's photo ID didn't have a year on it......? The birth certificate provides her birthdate, and the photo ID proves it's her face. So, we went to Dawg Tags and he said that everything we provided was just fine, and he did her piercing. This is an absolutely amazing shop to go to for tattoos or piercings. Highly knowledgeable staff that are all very skilled artists. Each of the artists have a great love for what they do. I myself have gotten several tattoo's here and so have many of my family members. Being in downtown Big Rapids is nice if you have other come with you when you get your work done, if they decide they want to walk around they can. The shop is very clean and spacious, the staff are always welcoming and helpful. They are for sure a 5 star facility with great artists. I would not recommend this place for tattoos. I have three tattoos, two of them I got before I went here. The artist here went way too deep and my tattoo bled a lot and scabbed over, even with proper treatment. They colored in parts black that were supposed t o be green, and overall did not look at all like I had wanted it to. The artist acted like he was in a hurry to get home. I had my appointment scheduled at 7pm (an hour before close) and he decided to start tattooing someone who had walked in, without an appointment, ten minutes before my appointment. I contacted the artist who did my first two tattoos (Tim at Aardvark St. Johns) and showed him a picture and he confirmed that they went too deep. I am very unhappy with my experience and I will have to go back to the other artist to have my tattoo fixed. Read Less

OUTSTANDING WORK! I don't know what place the bad reviews here was at, but it sure wasn't Lighttouch Tattoo! The "military guy" who did my tattoo went above and beyond and did one helluva job at that!
