The shop was incredibly dirty. The carpet looks absolutely terrible and didn't inspire a lot of confidence in me when I went in to get a couple ear piercings. The piercer was rushing and didn't tell me what jewelry she was going to put in, what gauge... nothing. I had to ask questions and she seemed clueless about what titanium anodizing even was. The little cubicle where I was getting my ear pierced was DIRTY. There were stains in the carpet and on the walls. The tools were sealed in packaging so as far as I know they were okay. When she pierced my ear she didn't put any paper towel down and the blood from my ear got all over my clothes. When she was trying to put in the ball in the captive ball hoop she couldn't get it in (It is a simple process if you have ring opening pliers... seriously it's a 5 dollar tool). I was in immense pain as she twisted my freshly pierced ear while struggling to get the ball in. She then opens the dirty drawer with her gloved hand and grabs another pair of pliers. Eventually she gets it in, and I feel like I am going to pass out. Needless to say nothing about my experience was clean, safe, friendly or welcoming. I will never return here again. They are expensive for piercings, 55 each for some no name stainless steel hoops! This is a terrible place and you should go elsewhere. UPDATE: I also wanted to add that I did try to speak with the manager a couple days after my experience and they were totally hesitant to help or come to a resolution, this place is garbage. Waited for an hour and a half only to be told the 2 very small tattoos I wanted in all black would be $300. Because “it’s on your face man haha” total morons.The 3 guys in there were all rude and not concerned with anything. The lady was nice although after sitting in there for an hour and a half didn’t say a word to me. You’re better off going to any other shop around. Go to eternal in clawson, actual fair prices and they don’t treat you like a walking paycheck. I will forever tell friends and family to never consider this place. Read Less

I wish I could put 0 stars.The staff was friendly enough, willing to put it back in. When he saw the piece of jewelry, he said it was hopelessly bent and told me I was sold a piece of random metal that was bent into a hoop, and it wasn't even real jewelry. My hoop is certified 14k gold. He told me it couldn't be bent into shape and he could try to do something. Put it back in and said there was a small gap. I paid, got to my car to check it out, and saw that the hoop wasn't even close to closed. I could have stuck the bent hoop back in myself without all his fumbling that caused me to bleed (the piercing is 3.5 years old and was completely healed before he messed around with it). Went back in and said that was unacceptable. He made a show of saying he really couldn't do much better. Proceeded to fumble around like he had never put a hoop in a body before. Told me he couldn't do better and tried to sell me a cheap stainless steel hoop. I was frustrated and just wanted to make sure my piercing wasn't ruined before I could back it back to a better shop. Ok'ed a new piece, and he brought a hoop over. I said it was bigger than what I had and he told me I was wrong. He proceeded to drop the piece on the floor. Went to get another and I again told him it was the wrong size and he told me I was wrong, again. He put the piece in, and I could feel ripping. It was the wrong gauge and hoop size. I felt blood pooling in my ear at this point from all his manhandling. He said, oh yeah one size off and went to get another. I once again told him it was the wrong gauge and he said that no one made the size I wanted because I was "duped into buying a cheap piece of metal." He showed me the new jewelry in my ear and I told him it wasn't what I wanted. He finally agreed to put in my old piece, and suddenly, magically, he was able to bend it a little closer to getting closed. It was still bad/ off enough to cause the hoop to get stuck in my piercing and cause problems. Read Less

My UNDERAGE daughter just came home with a navel piercing performed WITHOUT MY CONSENT. The piercing was done by Pat. My daughter doesn't even have a driver's license and her only photo ID is her school ID. What kind of reputable place does this without any due diligence to ensure children are of legal age to get these procedures done? If zero stars were possible, it would be zero. Read Less

The atmosphere is dirty.. the employees are extremely unprofessional and the artist is terrible at his craft.. (OD) I overpaid for a tattoo that looks nothing like what it was supposed to and now I can't get anybody to call me back to discuss this problem .. extremely unhappy and almost mortified to show people your so-called work... April 4 2017 update... I recently Revisited and was pleasantly surprised to see the place cleaned from wall to wall and was told the artist (OD) no longer works there.. I was able to have a few conversations with another artist (Pat Nice).. who went outta his way to make me feel comfortable and reassured me that what I had received was not acceptable and that he would personally fix it.. I got an industrial piercing about a week ago. I was in and out pretty quickly. I don't remember the name of the person who did it but they were knowledgeable and professional. I am happy I got it done here, since I was scared of it being a painful experience but it went very smoothly and not very painful. The pain came 3-4 days after though, but I think it's normal since it looks fine now and it doesn't hurt anymore. Read Less

Got my family crest done here and I love the tattoo it took him 30 minuets to draw and around an hour and a half to do the tattoo! It was very fast and painless. A month later the tattoo is still in perfect condition and non of the colouring faded while I was in the sun in Mexico! Read Less

First I have to say, the Berkley location American Pride Tattoo shop has made me extremely nervous about ever being pierced at any of their locations. The piercer was a lady and I had my piercing done about 2 hours or so before closing. I was the only customer and there were two people there her plus a man. Long story short, I paid 55 dollars for her to pierce my septum pierced. She felt around my nose on the inside to find the right spot and when she felt she had it she began to pierce and it was extremely painful, which was not the issue but the problem was once I returned home and had a good look at it I noticed it was crooked/ lopsided!! So I said okay maybe it's just the way the ring is turned, nope it's clearly lopsided and I do not see how she let me walk out of that shop without owning her mistake and fixing it, so now here I am walking around embarrassed about my piercing and nervous to look at anyone in the face because they will notice my screwed up piercing!! This piercing is not just a tad bit off I mean it is horrible going from the top of the entry site on a slant toward the front of my nose so I have an entry point that's far back and high up and I have the outer point which is very low and all the way to the front this is horrible I absolutely hate it!!! I wouls never have work done here again and I will always encourage other people never to go here! Read Less

I think american pride tattoos is clearly the best choice for someone that wants some effed up ink. Let me tell you that I've seen alot of work that was done out of all of their shops, and I myself have gotten tattooed there. I have many tattoos done by alot of artists and I know what constitutes a good tattoo. While I was getting tattooed, I could tell the artist was in a hurry and therefore made careless mistakes. Also I dont think the owners personally give a damn about their artists, and it shows just from the times I've been there. I would also say that theyr'e extremely overpriced. And when I asked her why it was so much, she pretty much told me because we can. Not because the work is worth it or how long it would take, but simply because of the location on woodward. Another instance I remember is when I was in there and the owner was just screaming at one of the artists and basically threatening him. I don't know about you, but I'm not getting tattooed anywhere where there's some mad hothead screaming his lungs out. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. The atmosphere was extremely impersonal, the countergirl was rude. It's like a fast-food joint. They just want you in and out. The owner steve is a scratcher, as he also hires scratchers and supplies scratchers. I would say that if you live close to any of their locations, avoid it and go somewhere good like eternal.
