I just went in and got first tattoo ever. I wanted to get an anchor on my hand to mimic the one my Dad has, and had gotten in 1952 when he was in the Navy. Larry was my artist and he was so informative, friendly and professional. He matched up the design perfectly. He explained everything to me about the process from start to finish. I would definitely recommend Witch City Ink! Thank you to Larry and the Witch City Ink staff for making my first time an amazing, unique and memorable experience with my Dad

I had read this shop was getting some negative reviews, so I wanted to take the time to write some words of appreciation for a good experience I am having. My artist is Kayleigh, and she has been working on a thigh piece for me since late summer. A few things I appreciate about Kayleigh are this:1. Quick to be seen - Within 10 mins of arriving to the shop, I am seen and we start the appointment right away. A few years ago, I had this one tattoo artist (at a different shop) who I had waited months to see, who would then make me wait hours before the appointment even started - only to have maybe a 2 hour session (when I had saved up for many more hours! SO annoying). The work was well worth the wait but this still left a bad taste in my mouth. I got tired of waiting around for appointments and wasn't happy with the progress of the tattoo so I took a break from appointments with this artist and unfortunately as a result of that, I have a half finished tattoo (her wait list is even longer than before so who knows when it will get finished). Bottom line, I feel that Kayleigh is super considerate and respectful of my time (this brings me to my next points)2. SUPER efficient - I have been doing 2 hour sessions, as that's what I have been able to afford/sit for. My biggest pet peeves in tattooers are those who take forever to do a tattoo and then don't even get much done (see above). Or, those who text or take smoke breaks while a client is getting tattooed (I've had both and they're both extremely annoying!). Kayleigh gives me her undivided attention and instead tattoos straight through the whole time, which I can't say enough how much I appreciate! I always feel she gets so much done during each of my appointments. The piece is almost finished, and I am super happy with its progress. I thought it was going to be a long drawn out process to finish but this hasn't been the case at all. 3. Accommodating schedule - Kayleigh's schedule has been very flexible and in sync with my availability. Another huge pet peeve I have with tattooers are those long wait lists - some artists are booked months in advance but this is not the case with Kayleigh. I have been able to see her every month or two tops (not because she isn't available but because of things on my end). I am very happy I have been able to see her consistently as it's allowed me to get the piece done in a timely manner!4. Really easy to talk to! Kayleigh is wicked laid back and cool. Through chatting, I learned we had some things in common and I feel the conversation made for a more pleasant experience while getting tattooed. I highly recommend Kayleigh! She is one of the best tattoo experiences I have ever had and I would definitely get more work by her. Thank you so much for everything, you rock! xo

Horrible customer service. Thank Goodness for SALEM INK. My best friend and I visited Salem for 2.5 days. We knew two things while planning our trip...we wanted to see all things Hocus Pocus-related and we wanted Best Friend tattoos while in Salem. We searched online for about a month before our trip and we knew we wanted to visit Salem Ink. My gut kept telling me this was our shop to go to. We did a lot of research and narrowed it down to 2 places...Salem Ink and Witch City Ink. When we got to Witch City Ink, we were barely greeted by two ladies. We explained what we wanted, showed our pictures that we prepared, and they just kind of blankly stared at us. They asked a few clarifying questions and pulled up a schedule. One of them went back to "Lallen" (which we only know by the Business Card) to clarify his schedule. We were told that he could probably get one of us in that day or the next day because his appointment shouldn't take long as long as he was planning for. She said he would call us to confirm and to let us know. Needless to say, we never got a phone call. Salem Ink is the place to go to if you are looking for a friendly and clean experience from artists who care about their work and customers.

Have received 2 tattoos here over the last few years and will definitely be back. Friendly and artistic service, their work is custom even for walk-ins, and they have great advice and guidance for what looks good and what will stay looking good over years to come. Very clean place as well. Really talented and passionate artists, and more friendly than other shops in the area.

To be fair I've never stepped foot in there but tried getting consultation. They didn't have the time open for me so i inquired via email. I was told to provide them with the art work I wanted. When I sent it in they had said it was too small. That they had to increase the size of the lettering and that it would cost me $400. This wasn't my first tattoo... I went to another tattoo shop that was local. And laughed when I told them about my situation. I didn't have to compromise with that tattoo shop on what I wanted and paid roughly $150 and I am super happy with it. Just be careful when they bump you like this.

After searching over a year for a quality tattoo artist I was recommended Larry for help designing my sleeve. Went in only for a free consultation, but couldn't resist adding a small tattoo in the meantime. Larry is AMAZING and passionate about what he does. He won't start until he's sure you're happy with it, and won't stop until it's perfected. He stayed well past closing time to ensure that me and my friend were happy with the results. He's currently working on designing my sleeve for me and I will not see anyone else. He's very trustworthy and a great conversationalist, which I personally believe is hard to find in tattoo artists. And his art work is one of a kind. Highly recommended! My tattoo is still pink, as expected because my skin is VERY sensitive but after only one day the healing process is definitely starting.

Had a great experience here last night. First, let me say that I have several tattoos, many of which were done at shops or by people that were just kind of cold feeling, douchey, judgemental, or not very professional. In the last year, I found a shop near my home in NY that made me feel respected, and I've decided I'll never get tattooed in a place or by a person that makes me feel like shit ever again. I ducked into a shop in New Orleans with some girlfriends last November and I pulled them both out with me; I WILL NOT get tattooed by impatient, inflexible assholes anymore. So, I'm in Salem this past weekend with my oldest niece to celebrate her 30th bday, and after a day of cool touristy stuff, we both decide we'd love a non-tacky Salem tattoo (quote by Giles Corey: "more weight"). We walked in at 7ish. First good sign: VERY nice/clean shop. We were told by the courteous woman at the front that although they close at 8, and their only artist still in (Larry) was working on a large piece until around 9, he'd be willing to stay and do our relatively simple tattoos. Second good sign: super accommodating. We went off to get a bite and Larry called us when he was ready. Third good sign: Larry was the consummate professional. Stayed until almost 11 helping us (and by the way has a super long commute home, which he did not even mention until we asked if he was from the area). Changed font, size, and placement multiple times until we were, and sometimes he was, happier with the result. We walked out on cloud nine - we have wanted matching tattoos for years, and everything about the experience, start to finish, made us feel great. I could not recommend this shop and Larry in particular more highly.

I came to Witch City because my artist, Kayleigh, moved there and I couldn’t be more happy! I already knew Kayleigh was an amazing artist, and I absolutely love all of the work she has done on me - we are almost finished with a full sleeve on my right arm - but I’m just so impressed with the shop itself too. Not only is it very clean and professional, but it’s also beautiful and welcoming. The setup is more private and personal than the (many) other shops I’ve been to, fantastic decor and flash art if you’re need inspiration. I really cannot say enough good things about Witch City Ink - they are awesome! And my ink looks perfect!

LOVE the shop, everyone is super nice. I have two tattoos from them now. The first just got touched up, but it looks a bit off now that I have taken off the plastic. The other I got done today, it looks really nice. However, I was a little thrown off with the price. I paid $50 over the phone as a spot holder, then the tattoo that literally took 20-30min was another $150, for a total of $200. I was expecting this one to be at a total of $150 max.
Will most likely go again though.

A month ago 4 of us girl decided to get tattooed. We absolutely loved the place! They were professional, super clean, patient, and extremely talented artist!!! Jaesun tattooed all of us cause we were coming for the Salemcon paranormal weekend at the Hawthorne Hotel. We had a wonderful experience with Jaesun who's a very professional and amazing artist!!! Went to get my 15th tattoo at Witch City for my first visit there. Tried for Lenore but ended up with Larry. First I would like to say that to be experimenting on customers who have expectations of nice work should not be allowed!! When you need to explain what the piece is should give you an idea that the work sucks!! still embarrassed to show anyone the poor job. I even asked to come back willing to pay for fix was like pulling teeth with no acknowledgement of the poor work. Have a new artist working on it tough salvage job, Do not advise to visit Witch CityTM

I would avoid this place like the plague.
I commented on their Facebook page pointing out the theft and they deleted my comments and then proceeded to tell me that it is ok to steal because all tattoo artists steal (they don't) and it is common practice (it isn't).
It isn't worth the money or time to go to this shop.
They've even admitted to theft on their own Facebook page, have a look.

Someone was inside and we knocked several times but they ignored us. There was no sign saying they were closing early or any attempt to even acknowledge us. Very unprofessional and disappointing.

Lenore, by someone who worked at the shop seven years ago (I forget their name), and quite extensively by Jaesun (he's done my memorial tattoos, my stomach piece, and is currently doing my chest piece). I've even had a session with a visiting artist who was there for a weekend.I have 30+ tattoos on my body at this time, I've been getting tattooed for 7 years (they were my second-fourth tattoos when I first started), I've worked with artists in North Carolina, Vermont, Japan, Boston, and Salem, and in my opinion, Witch City Ink is the best Tattoo Shop in all of New England, definitely the best shop I've ever been too.The staff is super friendly, they really care about the people they tattoo on, the work is off the utmost quality, and each time I get tattooed there I am completely blown away by the work I get done. Some of the best people I've ever met, the best artists I've ever seen, work here, and coming to this shop every few months or seeing them at a Tattoo Con is now like seeing good friends (my wife also gets her work done here as well, and I've turned several friends onto this shop).I could not recommend a Tattoo Shop more highly than Witch City Ink. If you want a great experience by artists who care about the work they do and the people who come to their shop, this is the place to get tattooed.

The location is great and plenty of other things to do around the area when you're here. The decor inside could keep you entertained for hours on end - it always does to me. The rest of the staff I met are courteous and helpful. No pain! (hahaha, no there was tho)

Have read all the reviews, you cant make everyone happy all the time. As with reading about any place and reviews I tend to pay attention to the dates of the reviews. This was my third tattoo with Jaesun, the first sitting of a custom piece. His art background gives him a hand and an eye for detail and color.The staff I've dealt with has been very friendly and accommodating. I get many compliments on his work, so I grabbed a few of his cards to give if people ask.I would definitely recommend this shop, stop in and check out the portfolios.

This shop is plop dead center of the main strip on Salem. I love the decor and the individually set ups rooms for each artist to have one on one time with the client without a ton of distractions which I experienced there one afternoon while the street filled with tourists and performers, Im sure its hard if you are there on a daily and the crowds and looky loos start to roll in when all you want to do is focus on doing great tattoos. From my personal experience the staff was super friendly and helpful. They made me feel at home there and I only wish I loved closer so I could go back again and again.

Kayleigh gives me her undivided attention and instead tattoos straight through the whole time, which I can't say enough how much I appreciate! I always feel she gets so much done during each of my appointments. The piece is almost finished, and I am super happy with its progress. I thought it was going to be a long drawn out process to finish but this hasn't been the case at all. 3. Accommodating schedule - Kayleigh's schedule has been very flexible and in sync with my availability. Another huge pet peeve I have with tattooers are those long wait lists - some artists are booked months in advance but this is not the case with Kayleigh. I have been able to see her every month or two tops (not because she isn't available but because of things on my end). I am very happy I have been able to see her consistently as it's allowed me to get the piece done in a timely manner!4. Really easy to talk to! Kayleigh is wicked laid back and cool. Through chatting, I learned we had some things in common and I feel the conversation made for a more pleasant experience while getting tattooed. I highly recommend Kayleigh! She is one of the best tattoo experiences I have ever had and I would definitely get more work by her. Thank you so much for everything, you rock! xo

Horrible customer service. Thank Goodness for SALEM INK. My best friend and I visited Salem for 2.5 days. We knew two things while planning our trip...we wanted to see all things Hocus Pocus-related and we wanted Best Friend tattoos while in Salem. We searched online for about a month before our trip and we knew we wanted to visit Salem Ink. My gut kept telling me this was our shop to go to. We did a lot of research and narrowed it down to 2 places...Salem Ink and Witch City Ink. When we got to Witch City Ink, we were barely greeted by two ladies. We explained what we wanted, showed our pictures that we prepared, and they just kind of blankly stared at us. They asked a few clarifying questions and pulled up a schedule. One of them went back to "Lallen" (which we only know by the Business Card) to clarify his schedule. We were told that he could probably get one of us in that day or the next day because his appointment shouldn't take long as long as he was planning for. She said he would call us to confirm and to let us know. Needless to say, we never got a phone call. Salem Ink is the place to go to if you are looking for a friendly and clean experience from artists who care about their work and customers.

To be fair I've never stepped foot in there but tried getting consultation. They didn't have the time open for me so i inquired via email. I was told to provide them with the art work I wanted. When I sent it in they had said it was too small. That they had to increase the size of the lettering and that it would cost me $400. This wasn't my first tattoo... I went to another tattoo shop that was local. And laughed when I told them about my situation. I didn't have to compromise with that tattoo shop on what I wanted and paid roughly $150 and I am super happy with it. Just be careful when they bump you like this.

After searching over a year for a quality tattoo artist I was recommended Larry for help designing my sleeve. Went in only for a free consultation, but couldn't resist adding a small tattoo in the meantime. Larry is AMAZING and passionate about what he does. He won't start until he's sure you're happy with it, and won't stop until it's perfected. He stayed well past closing time to ensure that me and my friend were happy with the results. He's currently working on designing my sleeve for me and I will not see anyone else. He's very trustworthy and a great conversationalist, which I personally believe is hard to find in tattoo artists. And his art work is one of a kind. Highly recommended! My tattoo is still pink, as expected because my skin is VERY sensitive but after only one day the healing process is definitely starting.

Had a great experience here last night. First, let me say that I have several tattoos, many of which were done at shops or by people that were just kind of cold feeling, douchey, judgemental, or not very professional. In the last year, I found a shop near my home in NY that made me feel respected, and I've decided I'll never get tattooed in a place or by a person that makes me feel like shit ever again. I ducked into a shop in New Orleans with some girlfriends last November and I pulled them both out with me; I WILL NOT get tattooed by impatient, inflexible assholes anymore. So, I'm in Salem this past weekend with my oldest niece to celebrate her 30th bday, and after a day of cool touristy stuff, we both decide we'd love a non-tacky Salem tattoo (quote by Giles Corey: "more weight"). We walked in at 7ish. First good sign: VERY nice/clean shop. We were told by the courteous woman at the front that although they close at 8, and their only artist still in (Larry) was working on a large piece until around 9, he'd be willing to stay and do our relatively simple tattoos. Second good sign: super accommodating. We went off to get a bite and Larry called us when he was ready. Third good sign: Larry was the consummate professional. Stayed until almost 11 helping us (and by the way has a super long commute home, which he did not even mention until we asked if he was from the area). Changed font, size, and placement multiple times until we were, and sometimes he was, happier with the result. We walked out on cloud nine - we have wanted matching tattoos for years, and everything about the experience, start to finish, made us feel great. I could not recommend this shop and Larry in particular more highly.

I came to Witch City because my artist, Kayleigh, moved there and I couldn’t be more happy! I already knew Kayleigh was an amazing artist, and I absolutely love all of the work she has done on me - we are almost finished with a full sleeve on my right arm - but I’m just so impressed with the shop itself too. Not only is it very clean and professional, but it’s also beautiful and welcoming. The setup is more private and personal than the (many) other shops I’ve been to, fantastic decor and flash art if you’re need inspiration. I really cannot say enough good things about Witch City Ink - they are awesome! And my ink looks perfect!

LOVE the shop, everyone is super nice. I have two tattoos from them now. The first just got touched up, but it looks a bit off now that I have taken off the plastic. The other I got done today, it looks really nice. However, I was a little thrown off with the price. I paid $50 over the phone as a spot holder, then the tattoo that literally took 20-30min was another $150, for a total of $200. I was expecting this one to be at a total of $150 max.
Will most likely go again though.

First I would like to say that to be experimenting on customers who have expectations of nice work should not be allowed!! When you need to explain what the piece is should give you an idea that the work sucks!! still embarrassed to show anyone the poor job. I even asked to come back willing to pay for fix was like pulling teeth with no acknowledgement of the poor work. Have a new artist working on it tough salvage job, Do not advise to visit Witch CityTM

I commented on their Facebook page pointing out the theft and they deleted my comments and then proceeded to tell me that it is ok to steal because all tattoo artists steal (they don't) and it is common practice (it isn't).
It isn't worth the money or time to go to this shop.
They've even admitted to theft on their own Facebook page, have a look.

Someone was inside and we knocked several times but they ignored us. There was no sign saying they were closing early or any attempt to even acknowledge us. Very unprofessional and disappointing.

Lenore, by someone who worked at the shop seven years ago (I forget their name), and quite extensively by Jaesun (he's done my memorial tattoos, my stomach piece, and is currently doing my chest piece). I've even had a session with a visiting artist who was there for a weekend.I have 30+ tattoos on my body at this time, I've been getting tattooed for 7 years (they were my second-fourth tattoos when I first started), I've worked with artists in North Carolina, Vermont, Japan, Boston, and Salem, and in my opinion, Witch City Ink is the best Tattoo Shop in all of New England, definitely the best shop I've ever been too.The staff is super friendly, they really care about the people they tattoo on, the work is off the utmost quality, and each time I get tattooed there I am completely blown away by the work I get done. Some of the best people I've ever met, the best artists I've ever seen, work here, and coming to this shop every few months or seeing them at a Tattoo Con is now like seeing good friends (my wife also gets her work done here as well, and I've turned several friends onto this shop).I could not recommend a Tattoo Shop more highly than Witch City Ink. If you want a great experience by artists who care about the work they do and the people who come to their shop, this is the place to get tattooed.

The location is great and plenty of other things to do around the area when you're here. The decor inside could keep you entertained for hours on end - it always does to me. The rest of the staff I met are courteous and helpful. No pain! (hahaha, no there was tho)

Have read all the reviews, you cant make everyone happy all the time. As with reading about any place and reviews I tend to pay attention to the dates of the reviews. This was my third tattoo with Jaesun, the first sitting of a custom piece. His art background gives him a hand and an eye for detail and color.The staff I've dealt with has been very friendly and accommodating. I get many compliments on his work, so I grabbed a few of his cards to give if people ask.I would definitely recommend this shop, stop in and check out the portfolios.

This shop is plop dead center of the main strip on Salem. I love the decor and the individually set ups rooms for each artist to have one on one time with the client without a ton of distractions which I experienced there one afternoon while the street filled with tourists and performers, Im sure its hard if you are there on a daily and the crowds and looky loos start to roll in when all you want to do is focus on doing great tattoos. From my personal experience the staff was super friendly and helpful. They made me feel at home there and I only wish I loved closer so I could go back again and again.
