They banned me for my review back in Beverly and had one of the tattoo artists come to my doorstep telling me I'm banned from the shop. Not going to say his name, due to being a family friend of ours. Talk about unprofessional Leo. Disgusting.I don't care but Leo, get your s**t together. I needed to get my ears re-pierced because when I had them originally done as a child, they were crooked. The service here was phenomenal. Really good. I went there the other day for the first time in eight (?) years to get some piercings taken out before an x-ray. Leo was super kind, professional and clean, and even swapped in acrylic piercings so I didn't have to worry about the holes closing up. I called up because I spontaneously wanted my navel repierced... they told me that I could bring in my titanium jewelry and they could sterilize and repierce me with it! The man who re did my piercing was very clean and he even made sure my piercing was straight as the first time had been done a little crooked. Myself and my friend got our noises pierced today. The staff here and incredible and instantly put my nerves at ease with calming energy and confidence. Even when my friend got nervous the staff were incredibly patient, let her sit until she was ready to be pierced and offered cold bottled water to ease her nerves. Got my rook pierced yesterday, male pierced bragged about how he has been "piercing for almost 3/4 of his life and he's the best" but he did a horrible job. Got the needle halfway through and then had to keep pushing for, no joke, 2 whole minutes because the "connection was off". I have multiple other piercings, including ones far more difficult and painful, and this was by far the worst. He half to stop halfway through to change his gloves because of the blood. Worst part was he tried to blame it on me for "moving", which I didn't and the people I was with could vouch for that. I love this place!  Leo has pierced me twice, and I have always purchased my body jewelry from them.  Leo is kind, professional, and keeps everything super clean. My fiancé went in yesterday to get a simple ear stretching from a 4 to a 2, and the piercer they have used a blunt 2-0 taper, and jammed them in his ears, tearing his holes on both sides. I had Leo as my piercer yesterday for the buy one get one event and I chose to get my nipples pierced. I was iffy at first about how comfortable I was going to feel about getting them done but I've been coming to Purple Scorpion for over 10 years and I've always had an experience I was happy with. Leo was extremely clean and sanitary about everything. He was also more than respectful and professional and made the experience not awkward at all. I had warned him beforehand that... there was a chance I might faint even though I tried to do everything to avoid so and of course I do faint after getting the second one pierced. I have been getting pierced by Leo and Judy since 1997 -  I won't go anywhere else to get work done. I am from Swampscott but moved up to NH and I drive to Salem or Beverly to see Leo no matter what. He's professional, clean, patient and has a great respect for the art of piercing. I made sure to call first to make sure pricing was accurate and so on. Walked in and waited till someone from the back came out to tell me there was a wait time because the piercer isn't here (which was whatever I can wait) but that i could fill out all forms so its all good. As I'm filling out the form I had a question and the girl who had me filling the forms out gave me such attitude for absolutely no reason (I'm generally bubbly) but everyone around me saw how rude she was being. So I started to have some second thoughts about if I wanted to get pierced here. Then the piercer comes in and just asks who's next and proceeds to give me the rundown and gives me a completely different price than what's online. I told her that wasn't what I was told then she continues and asks for my forms back and come back on another day than starts helping the next person. The entire half hour I spent in there was absolutely awful and I went and got my piercing elsewhere and am very happy to have met my new regular piercer. So I guess that's the one positive. I've had my dermal in for 7 years and I've been wanting it removed for some time now but I was just too lazy to get it done. I guess it was about that time to get up and do somethting about it. Now after watching several videos of dermal removals I felt pretty confident. So I gave it a go myself.....like an idiot lol instead of getting it professionally done. I called and spoke with Leo (I was told that he's the one who works with dermal removals) I told him over the phone what I did (heads up that I probably made it worst) and it didn't even faze him, he was actually really nice about it and told me to come in anyway. He was so professional about everything! Anyway! He went to set up his station then came back to get me. I kid you not I legit sat down and got right back up I'm like "THATS IT!!???" he tells me "yup you're all set kiddo" while telling me how to cater to the wound for potential scarring. If you live in New England and you go anywhere else for piercings, you're doing it wrong. No where else in the entire earth will you feel so comfortable or at ease while poking an additional hole in your body. I believe I worked with Judy, who is down to earth and very cool. She gave me so much information about piercing in general that I had never heard before. She was absolutely professional while making me feel comfortable. The process was quick and easy. She explained all of my options for future and changing jewelry. The most difficult part of my experience was choosing jewelry and only getting one piercing on my first visit. This place is great - I strolled in because I was having an issue with my nose ring (originally pierced a year and half ago in a different state) and they were super friendly and willing to help. I didn't catch the girl's name that helped me, but she was very professional, friendly, and knew just what to do. She walked me through the process, opened new equipment in front of me, wore gloves, etc. Very clean. I was in and out in ten minutes or less with my piercing newly tapered and my jewelry adjusted. I was recommended here by several people so I knew it was going to be a great choice and even after living in Salem for 2 years I actually had never been to this place.It's such a cute shop, but certainly dated - it's in a historic house and you can't update that shit!  You lose the history!I got my piercing with Judy, she is hands down just amazing.  We exchanged text/phone calls prior.  She is very hands on and said to please keep her number saved so if I had any questions/concerns afterwards during healing that she was just a phone call or text away.  That was so nice to hear that instead of, yeah OK  bye!  She was so genuine about it and I definitely texted her about a week and a half later to ask a question!   Clean, professional.  I witnessed her clean, open new equipment, etc.  No issues there.  Parking, tough I suppose if it was peak season for Salem.  I parked in the historic house lot across the way, maybe the 7 Gables, I'm not sure.  There was also street parking and side streets but I'm not sure what those street signs read if anything.Cash only, like most places.I would definitely go back if I plan to get another piercing. A little bit of an intimidating set up/decor and the piercers were very to the point (haHA!) - needless to say there was less hand holding (which was fine for me since I am an experienced piercing-receiver).Ian is incredibly smart and experienced - he showed me every step of the sterilization process before and after the piercing. I went with my sister when she had hers pierced at The Purple Scorpion about 6 years ago, and had been so impressed by the experience that I refused to go anywhere else for mine.Leo is the consummate professional: he explained all the paperwork, the pricing and what was included, and when it came time for the actual piercing he verbally and visually walked me through each step, from sanitizing his hands and the surgical tray, to the tools that would be involved, to letting me know when he would be in my personal space and placing his hands on me. The piercing itself was quick and relatively painless;  I couldn't have asked for a better experience. He was also kind enough to look at my roommate's unhealed piercing (which had been done elsewhere... ::coughmallcough::) and give her tips on what she needed to do in order for everything to heal properly.If you're in the market for a piercing, look no further.
