Going in was easy and getting someone to tattoo me was quick, however, the man who tattooed me gave me the care instructions backwards and it took longer to heal than it should. It has only been a month or so and my tattoo already looks kinda crappy. Wouldn't recommend for tattoos. Read Less

Got my helix done there 2 weeks ago. Getting it done hurt worse and bled more than my micro dermal which I thought was wierd. The next days later the ball on the end fell off. A week later my ear was still in pain. The ring was super small and it started to slice open my ear. I could start to see the indent. The ring they used was WAY to small. I called the place I usually go to so they could get it out. Because I couldn't even take the piercing out because it was so tight an...d hurt like absolute hell. Again it was SLICING my ear! I went to my normal piercer to take it out (who has done my micro dermal and eye brow) and she said the ring was wayyyy to small for a helix! Even she had a tough time taking it out!!! She put a stud in it and it already feels so much better. But I have a indent on the top of my ear that may not grow back. -I have the pictures to prove it-...safe to say I have no reason to come back there, my friends I was with go back there, or recommend you guys to anyone I know. I'm not going to lie I was super nervous going because of the reviews but honestly I had the best experience. I went today to get my nose pierced and the man up front and the guy that pierced my nose was really cool and friendly. The whole process was over in less than 5 mins...and the pain was little to nothing. Care instructions are simple and easy. My only cons are: parking sucks, be prepared to drive in circles looking for a space to park and the wait was 30 mins but it was well worth the wait. My first tattoo ever was suppose to be done here. For starters of course I was nervous as heck and the tattoo artist did not make me any more comfortable. He treated me as if I was wasting his time and couldn't be bothered. He picked my custom designed tattoo apart and practically made it "his" own to the point it was no longer MY design. Yet still I was dumb enough to want to go through with it and proceeded to wait while he "finished up a quick sleeve". I waited near 7 hours hearing nothing. Got my nose pierced here and it was a great experience! Their after care instructions were very good and my nose never got infected and it healed perfectly! I don't understand all these bad reviews. I just got tattood  (for the second time) by jason talbot at body extremes this past wednsday. I got a gorgeous full neck & throat piece, and i highly recommend him to anyone who wants to get ink! Walked in needing some extra work done to a piece that was left unfinished by an artist in Cambridge. Met with Jason Talbot then gave him free rein with what was missing and he surely found what was missing (other than what we both knew was missing from the last artist). If you go (hopefully you do) walking around looking at the decorations is better than watching the television even if the remote was available. I had a great experience getting my 3rd and 4th tattoos here with Jason Talbot. I walked in on a whim with the images of the two tattoos I wanted saved in my email. They were both pretty simple black tattoos. One my friend's signature, the other a small symbol for AA. He got them sized right and printed out quickly. He gave me a good price since I was getting two at the same time. He was very kind, checked in with me throughout the process to make sure I was doing ok and was also very respectful of the fact that I was a recovering alcoholic. Please do not go here they are so unprofessional it is crazy they are still open for business. They have no clue how to pierce..like many others that have gone here, piercing your septum here is asking for a total mess!! We went to several other shops and were told that this was the worst piercing job they have seen, and how if the piercing wasn't taken out serious problems would be inevitable. When asked for money back they try and intimidate customers and refuse to refund money while blaming everyone but themselves. Ask other skilled reputable shops about this place and they will say stay away. If you decide to still go here after reading the reviews on this place, just get a tetanus shot before. Groossssss. Don't go here. Spend the extra time and money to head to either Chameleon in Cambridge or Stingray in Allston. I got my belly button pierced here in 2012 and it was the worst piercing experience I've ever had. I believe it was Mik who pierced me. He was rude and didn't explain anything to me. He pierced me and then left his apprentice or whoever to put the jewelry in. The apprentice was so nice and he did some of the explaining, but the fact that Mik walked away and didn't watch or stay for any questions or concerns I had was ridiculous. He also pierced me with a ring even though I wanted to barbell. The piercing ended up getting a bit infected because of the ring and it was crooked! I went to chameleon to get it looked at and fixed and Owen (the piercer there) was so helpful and switched it to a barbell and it healed very quickly after that. Please don't go to Body Xtremes!!! Do not go here! Got my septum done here n it was completely crooked n extremely painful. First I called to get a price- the guy That answered the phone, who I now know was mik told me he thought it was this price but was in the other room and didn't feel like going to check the actual price, good customer service. When I got there the piercing was substantially more expensive than he told me on the phone. I sit down to be pierced and Mik is talking over me as if I'm not there, talking about sending a picture to someone of the pope getting a blow job from a kid! First of all- disgusting, unprofessional and offensive! Wish I had jumped out of the chair right then. Mik spent about 5 mins in the room n left as soon as he was done- making no attempts to answer questions, talk to me about what was going on or make me feel comfortable. I Bled a ton, it was dripping out of my nose and wouldn't stop. Mik left his assistant to clean up his mess, we spent 20 mins trying to get the bleeding to stop, the kid ended up having to use some topical drug to clot n stop the bleeding. Once I got home after the piercing n took a look at it I saw that the piercing was extremely low n exiting through the bottom of the skin of my septum! I was still bleeding even into the next morning. I couldn't flip it up either n was told by people in body xtremes I should be able to w in 5 hrs. W out looking into my nose you could see the piercing hole. Because this place was closed til tues I went to a different shop to get it checked out. I went to 3 different piercers n they all told me I need to take it out. "It is not a viable piercing n there is a good chance it will rip all the way through your septum" because it was in the complete wrong spot. One of the piercers said if someone in her shop did it she would not only give me a full refund n free piercing, she would fire the person who did it. All piercers told me I should take it out and will never be able to flip it up. I went back to the shop to ask for my money back. I was perfectly reasonable n tried to have a conversation about it but he wouldn't even look at my nose saying it was just swollen. I know my nose n it was not swollen, even if it was swollen it would have nothing to do with it ripping through the bottom. He wouldn't listen to anything I had to say n just kept yelling, and I mean yelling, at me to get out. He blamed it on me saying if I had left it be it would have been fine, when that excuse didn't work he went on to blame me for picking the wrong jewelry but the kid at the front suggested it to me as the best to use and the jewelry had nothing to do with it! He pierced me in the wrong place. End of story. So clearly did not get my money back. I wish I had followed my gut and walked right out as soon as I stepped in there, now I may have permeant visible scarring for a piercing hole no one should be able to see. If he had owned up to it I would have understood, everyone makes mistakes but he was impossible to deal with and didn't act like a business owner in any way. Too bad the entire staff of this place are donkeys(maybe not all but you get the idea) I don't doubt their talent as artists because I know people who have gotten work done by the owner, but dude, get over yourself. Ya your unique and super edgy with your outlandish facial piercing and tattoos, they compliment your weird sense of obscure humor...good for you, now if you could have slightly acknowledged me when I entered your establishment to purchase some dermal replacement heads and acted like a engaged business owner maybe I would have a different opinion of you. This place is walk in  only...which at first I was skeptical about..but I researched every possible thing about this place and went in.I am so glad I did. I got my last tattoo in Cambridge and the two before that out of state. So I was looking for a clean respectable place with great artists.Jason "J-foo" was great. Very friendly and welcoming.  I told him what I was looking for and he took the time to draw it out to my liking and size it out. Then he was extremely patient while I made him move the stencil multiple times ( hey I have to be picky). He worked quick but not rushed. Had some great tunes playing too which relaxed me as well. His attention to detail and the shading really made my tattoo stand out from every other one that it could have been generic. I LOVE MY TATTOO!!!Reasonably priced for the quality of the artistry. BEWARE OF NIPPLE PIERCINGS. I went in for a nipple piercing. Everyone was really nice and I felt comfortable, but quickly after the piercing I realized it looked off. The next day I had it looked at by a different piercer. I was told a few things. First, it is out of date to pierce with a ring- instead of a barbell. I was told I couldn't get a barbell, even though I asked. The second piercer told me that barbells are the new standard because bras push down the ring and make it harder for the piercing to heal. Additionally, I was originally told to rotate the ring which is not good for piercings which actually need to be left alone and not irritated. They also pierced me unevenly, too low, and on my areola. Thankfully I got the piercing out within 24 hours and can therefor get it repierced next week. Point is, take your nipples somewhere else. I suggest Chameleon in Harvard Square. Read Less

I just had the most amazing experience at Body Xtremes.  Yes, they have a lot of stuff on the walls. It's not gross, mostly it's fascinating.  Nothing more than you'd find in a Ripley's believe it or not.  I did not find anyone rude there, in fact, I found most of the artists very friendly and easy to talk to!  I worked with Jason, who is an amazing artist.  He worked to make my drawing perfect before we agreed and found a time to come in.  He's awesome to talk to and the entire 5 hours I was in the chair, we kept laughing.  Now yes, it is CASH ONLY for tattoos.  This is actually quite a common practice.  So be prepared, though there IS an ATM right across the street if you want to pull out cash.Already planning my next piece!  Thanks Jason!
