I've only gotten a couple of tats and both were done in P-Town. Coastline is an awesome place. Very clean environment and meticulous care in keeping everything clean and sterile. Effie was very helpful in getting me my tat in my price range and Alice, the tattooist was great. She took my design and elevated it to the next level. I have been getting tattooed at Coastline since 2010. All of their artists new and old are SO talented! I've been inked by Kris & Jeff, as well as guest and past artists, and I have never had a bad experience or anything close to it. I have had a cover up, large pieces, and fun flash designs here. Everyone is very professional, artistically and technically talented, and imaginative in making your vision translate to a great piece for a tattoo. My wife and I stopped in on a chance and we were met with very nice and helpful people. We were on vacation and wanted to get a tat to commemorate the occasion.They were very helpful in coming up with the design that fit both of or tastes. The shop was clean and the artist professional. After spending some time talking we found out we both new and have either had work done or worked with some of the same people. Wild since we are from PA and this was Cape Cod.....small world! My sister and I got small tattoos this past weekend. They were able to accommodate us as walk ins and it's clean and comfortable. It is necessary to note that they are cash only and have a high ($100) minimum. I got a very small tattoo, smaller than my first, but it cost $40 more. The quality of the work was solid, but one thing that really bothered me was the staff. I felt a bit judged and they were not warm. My artist seemed bothered when I asked her to alter the design and then the placement before tattooing-she was not patient and gave me a bit of an attitude. For that reason, I would not return. Jeff took a basic google image I found that "looked enough like what I like" and turned it into something wonderful! Decided to drop in out of curiosity and was pleasantly surprised. The shop was tucked away down a small alley. The decor was bright and colorful emphasized by the great music selection. What?! No metal? What a relief!Artist Jef carefully sketched a modified botany drawing of a Jasmine flower (b&w)  which ultimately turned out great! Smooth linework and perfect proportion. Too early to really tell how the shading will look.The cash only requirement was a bit tough as I don't carry over $100 in my wallet at any given time, but I made it work. Read Less

Great service all around! Called on a whim on a Thursday for a next day appointment. Got in, gave them the art, they tweaked it to make it work, and within an hour, BOOM, a great tattoo! This was a fantastic experience. I walked in kind of sort of knowing what I wanted, based off a picture. The person at the front desk (I didn't get her name, she is an apprentice there) was super-helpful in drawing it out and coming up with the modifications I wanted. She was very patient with me, offered excellent suggestions and came up with creative ideas.When I came back and met with the artist (I needed to sleep on it before committing to getting it), I believe it was Chris, he was as professional as they come. He looked at what we put together, suggested a couple of tweaks, and went to work. His patience was incredible. It must have taken me 1/2 hour to determine exactly where I wanted it and how I wanted it positioned. He stuck on the image and wiped it off 10 times before we finally settled on the exact place I wanted it (he also had some very helpful suggestions in placement). His artistry was incredible. I wanted the colors of the gay flag as part of it, and rather than making distinct lines between each color, which he didn't think would look good, he perfectly blended the color changes, and he was so right! I've had several people look at it, some with a lot of experience getting tattoos, and they were all incredibly impressed not just at the overall tattoo, but particularly how he filled in the coloring, with just enough shading here and there to make it look good, and again, they were all blown away by how well he did the transition of colors in the flag.He also completed it relatively quickly, based on when I got my other tattoo a few years ago elsewhere. He didn't rush through it by any means, but when somebody knows what they're doing, they don't have to waste time.I would recommend this place to anybody. I had my 2nd tattoo (4th overall) done at Coastline. They really know how to take a vision and bring it to life. I'm not one to harp on a design. I have an idea of what I want and trust the artist to help bring my idea to life. Kris was my most recent artist, and was a great guy to work with. He took his time, and was patient with me, and does beautiful work. I was flattered that he wanted to take a picture of my tattoo, and hope it ends up on some website, because it really is a beautiful tattoo. I learned of this place because a friend of mine went there. I have since learned I have many friends who have come here for their tattoos. I got a tattoo here last summer and I regret going here and not to mooncusser. I got my first tattoo at mooncusser and when I went for another one they were busy and coastline could take me right away so I went there instead.... Bad decision! I'm now planning on getting it covered up and getting the same tattoo again on my other shoulder. I love the tattoo but it just doesn't look good. On one side of the tattoo it's all blurry, looks like an amateur did it. Not impressed with them at all. I will go to mooncusser from now on! Read Less

Since our son got his tattoo in '13 we have been back for 3 additional pieces. Coastline Tattoo does fantastic work! Professional, friendly and excellent artists. They take walk-ins as well as appointments and the prices are good. I had an old cover-up that needed removal or an amazing cover-up - an amazing cover is what I got!  Coastline worked with me on my ideas and came up with a piece of art far beyond my expectations. I had no hesitation and was itching to see the final work throughout the whole sitting; I was not disappointed. Alice was able to cover my existing piece so well that I couldn't see, nor remember, where it used to be. We will be back to Coastline for all our additional work. I have never written a Yelp review, although I use it often for research. I decided its time I start actively participating and writing reviews, and was thinking about which should be my first, and without a doubt Coastline is more than worthy of my very first review. In reality, I should have written this years ago, but better late than never. I stumbled into Coastline a few years ago on a whim on a day trip to PTown (i live in the city). Scott did a rib piece for my friend, which came out beautiful, and Kris did a shoulder piece for me. I had previously gone to a shop in Plymouth for my others. Kris' work was exactly what I wanted - the replica of the picture I had in my head. Since that day I vowed to never go anywhere else.I live and work in the city, so can't get down to PTown easily for a consult before new ink. I literally send Kris long, nonsensical, train of thought emails with what the idea I have in my head, and somehow when I show up for my appointment, he has it drawn out and ready to go exactly as I pictured. He is very intuitive to each person's style and preferences and his artistic ability to translate each's individual style into permanent art is unbelievable. It's a much more personal experience, even coming in as an out-of-towner, than any shops I had been at previously which made me feel like a sale. You are putting something on your body forever - it shouldn't feel rushed or impersonal. Since that day I stumbled in three years ago, I have been back maybe 6 times, most recently a little over a month ago. Kris has done a Koi, Crane, Lotus, Dragon, Peony, and Cherry Blossoms for me. Wanted to get a tattoo while on vacation in Provincetown, did some research and after viewing the art on their website and reading their reviews I decide to check out Coastline. The shop was very clean and the staff was incredibly friendly. I was able to get my piece done right then, no waiting. I'd been considering a new tattoo for about 6 months and while on holiday in P-Town a local recommended Coastline. His ink was very good so it seemed a good recommendation. Because I was getting an octopus he suggested Kris but he wasn't available. Parker suggested I come in and take a look at the portfolios of the other artists which I did. From the moment I walked in the whole staff were so very friendly and patient with my pre-tattoo nerves. Both artists were fantastic but Alice suited my style better. I had brought in a sketch and, as I like to do, we talked and worked together to come up with a final design. She drew it on my calf (full length) and went to work.The whole place is clean and I saw all of the equipment come out of sealed packages.I was on the table for 4.5 hours and made to feel comfortable and at home, what a great crew. The work is absolutely beautiful and can be seen through alicewhitetattoo.com (blue octopus on a calf). Even my co-workers in a Federal office were so impressed they made me show it off in a staff meeting! The cost was $500 but I feel it was a solid deal and you get what you pay for. Read Less

My husband and I wanted to get matching anchor tattoo for various reasons and we wanted to get them while we were on vacation in Ptown.  We walked around and found 2 shops and this is the one we chose.First, it's clean.  Very clean.  I didn't feel at all skeeved out when I walked in.  And the people are super friendly.  We told Parker what we wanted and he helped us figure out the size, etc.  We mentioned that we wanted to get them on our inner heel and he cautioned against it.  He told us they'd do it, but that healing is harder here, etc...we appreciated it very much and ultimately decided that we'd get them on our ankles instead.  The process was very easy.  We placed a cash deposit and came back a couple days later when we were ready.  Our artist was great-very professional, clean, talented and friendly.  Our simple tattoos took about 15 minutes each and are perfect.  These were a little more pricey than you'd normally pay-we paid $200 for 2 small-ish black anchors that had no real intricate lines or details.  But that's the price you pay for getting a tat in a tourist town and we knew that, so we were OK with it.  We're very happy with our experience and are pleased with the results.  We're glad we didn't choose the other tattoo shop that we found in town, which was not nearly as clean and organized looking and not nearly as friendly as this one.
