I got my very first tattoo done at Intradermal! My friend had gotten multiple from this shop in the past so I had her go with me. The wait wasn't long (considering I went on the spot, spontaneously). Frank talked to us, helped me out with the design and was incredibly friendly. His sense of humor is great and it makes you feel more comfortable going in to get the tattoo. I've had two tattoos done at Intradermal. I had one good experience and one bad experience. I brought in a design idea, and my artist put in research and effort to make a final product. I reviewed it at the shop and decided to go with a large portion of the design and leave out a part I didn't much like. I got a look and a resistant comment, but in the end, my tattoo came out just how I wanted and even my tattoo artist was surprised & impressed at how much he liked my decision. I'm still loving it to this day. Fast forward a few years and I went back for a consultation for covering an old tattoo (done at another shop when I was much younger). The artist consulted my design idea, and proceeded to free-hand draw an image over the old tattoo. However, it barely looked anything like the way I wanted. Before he let me have a change to approve or disapprove, he started up the needle! WAIT! I was able to stop him before things became permanent, and had him change two things (still not quite to my liking), and the needle was already back out before I had a chance to even think on it). I was happy to have the old tattoo covered, but really upset about how the new one was hastily applied and am regretful of this tattoo I didn't get my due input on. Read Less

I'll give them 4 because I've only had one 5 star experience ever in life.... I have had 90% of my work done at Intradermal Design. Frank is one of my favorite people. He's been tattooing me since he was an apprentice. You definitely have to have thick skin if you want to be inked here. The conversation can be quite exhilarating at times. Wes  (the owner) knows his stuff when it comes to body modification. I trust these guys with my skin. I'm just happy I still have more open space for ink. Be back soon! Read Less

My friend and I got matching foot tattoos last weekend. We got totally botched. Not only did we loose the color but the outline is jagged. It looks like a tat someone would get in jail.Frank doesn't " warranty" foot tattoos... The shop that is redoing both of our tats.. Was appalled that an artist wouldn't take pride in his work and make his customers pay again. Even if it was free to get fixed.. We would never go back.I have never been in a piercing or tattoo shop where you don't sign a release!! He didn't have us fill out paperwork or sign a release.. Probably on purpose so there wouldn't be a record of us being there. Coincidentally the credit card machine was down.. Because you can't pocket money if  you run a credit card!! The whole experience was soo ridiculous it was almost surreal. And the place wasn't the cleanest. Never step foot in here! Read Less

Wes is the best especially at portraits best prices in the Berkshires too I have award winning portraits tattooed on me from him that i always get compliments on and has made it so i am able to look at pictures of my diseased sister father again and he is super funny all around good experience Read Less

I was goin in for a tattoo the other day and couldnt push myself to move forward. The shop is dirty and im surprised it hasnt been shut down by the board of health because of how filthy it is. Wes is extremely unprofessional and losing the little skill he has left. Your better off going to a scratcher than placing money in the hands of someone who doesnt deserve it. The owner is one of the rudest men I've ever met. His work is better than most in Pittsfield (the only reason for a 2nd star as the service alone is enough to make you cringe). As I turned and headed out the door after being insulted for having dermal anchors (ironic as his shop is called intradermal), he yelled at a teenage girl who was apparently keeping him waiting. In actuality he was working with others then with me and yelling at me and she was patiently waiting outside for him to be done.I'm truly appalled that someone who makes their bread and butter doing body art can get away with that malarkey.Oh, and he also tried to quote me really high thinking I didn't know anything about body art until he saw all my work. Typically I wouldn't review a place unless I have personally experienced their services first hand, but I feel like this place gets to be the exception to the rule.My roommate was looking for a place in the area to get a tattoo, and her and I both heard intradermal had a good reputation so we went to check it out.She had a sketch for the basic idea what she was going for and showed it to the man behind the counter (who is also the owner) explaining the idea, and asking for some artistic input.He proceeded to criticize the concept for the tattoo, call the idea boring, question her sexuality, and was overall offensive and rude. Furthermore, he kept trying to explain a technique that he assured us would look great, yet the only photos of past work he had to show were from a one page magazine article about him from 2004. None of which showed the technique he was trying to explain.Needless to say we went elsewhere(Leftys) , and had a much more pleasant experience. Read Less
