Most unsanitary and unprofessionally run place I have ever been in. A total dump, ceiling tiles missing, filthy flooring, furniture and tattoo and piercing furniture in horrible condition. If you want to chance hepetitis, this is the place to go. Read Less

This is after three months of my rook piercing. I never slept on this side of my ear, cleaned it regularly with antibacterial soap. Had to get it removed before it ripped out of my ear. The cause of this could be that the piercer had pierced it too close, and my ear rejected it. I would not recommend. Read Less

Very professional and very nice! Me and my friend got our industrial and I got my nose pierced as well. It was fast, minimal pain and my friend would not stop bleeding but Heidi was so patient and helped her out! Will definitely be going back to get my tattoo touched up. Read Less

I visited The Shining Star Tattoo and Body Piercing Studio yesterday and I had the BEST experience ever! Heidi, Shawn and Dave made us all feel really comfortable. They were friendly on the phone and when we arrived at the studio. They worked hard to fit us into their schedule and made us feel more than welcome when we arrived. I felt like I was visiting old friends and this was our FIRST time visiting the studio. Cleanliness is CLEARLY a huge priority to the staff here. I pu...rchased eye brow rings and Heidi was kind enough to sterilize the jewelry for me and put them in my existing eye brow piercings. All of us also got tattoos while we were there and the artists supplied fresh ink, needles and all staff members were gloved while working. While my friends and I were in the studio, the staff helped us with our questions, made us feel more than welcomed and worked above and beyond to make sure we all were satisfied. AND a fun story to add to this: My friends and I are not from the area ... we were visiting the neighboring town on a weekend getaway. We randomly decided to get "friendship tattoos". The design we agreed on was a star. We called around and happened to come across "The Shining Star Tattoo and Body Piercing Studio". How ironic we happen to come upon a place with "Star" in the name while we are planning star tattoos? All in all (before I make this TOO long) we all had such a great experience at this studio! I live about 60+ minutes from this studio but they were SO wonderful there I am willing to take a road trip to the Shining Star for my next body art experience. My friend and I got our noses pierced. Heidi was friendly and professional, she knew exactly what she was doing, made me feel comfortable and answered all of my questions. Ive followed her directions for aftercare cleaning and have had no problems. Also, where else can you get a good safe piercing for $20?! Read Less

CLEAN. That's your number 1 priority when you walk into a tattoo shop and you don't need to worry about that here. I've gotten all my tattoos from Shawn. He's awesome. Give him your ideas and he'll turn it into a work of art. Love this place. Read Less

I rarely have a problem with businesses because most places respect their customers. Not here. I received a piercing here and a few months later it started to bother me. I called a day ahead to ask if I could come by to get it removed and asked if there will be a service fee. The person who I was speaking with let me know if I received the piercing there that it would be free. That was a lie. The woman who took them out was mad that I told her one of the employees said that to me. She charged me and was extremely rude. I called to speak with someone to find out who had told me I didn't have to pay. Big mistake yet again. They give the phone to that lady, or lack of lady like qualities, who was giving me such attitude. Who yells at their customers? Shining star. The only start they'll every receive from me. She was extremely rude. So was the man who does tattoos he really had to put his two cents in. This place charges too much. Is a total rip off. And most of all they are so terrible to their customers. Never come here. Many people have complained about the service and attitudes of these people. Read Less

First off...the place is so small its ridiculous...ive gotten many tattos in my lifetime and i go there to get a tattoo for my daughter and its by far the worst job i have ever seen...the tattoo artist was in a complete rush and didnt seem to want to be there at all...if you dont like your profession try something else...my tattoo is so bad...and all it was was a simple name...clean? not to sure about that....the tattoo artist was setting up for me to come in and he was with his girlfriend and a couple friends in their just talking and shooting the shit... very unprofessional if you ask me...while hes sanitizing (if he ever really did) there all in their touching everything and laying all over the chairs...I almost walked out (which i shouldve)...I would for sure not recommend shining star to anyone...its a complete disgrace...if you want a tattoo that looks like complete shit go there...I wonder if the owner really knows whats actually going on in his establishment...if i was the owner i would have fired this guy in a heartbeat..and to top it off if your going to hire someone atleast hire somone with a minumum of 5 years expierence...for a fact i know the tattoo artist has not been tattooing for 5 years...I am so digusted and I am glad that I have a family member who writes columns for the papers because you better believe it there will be something written up about this place...better yet I hope the boh reads this and goes there to investigate the place...Its pretty sad that now when i show someone my tattoo im embarrased because this place did such a shitty job...now i wonder why all day long there outside smoking butts...its becasue they have NO CUSTOMERS....if you ever think about going here think twice...because you will regret it!!!! Being a fresh faced 17 year old (at the time) walking into a tattoo parlor for the first time,  I was impressedEven though rather it's a rather small establishment, it clean and as far as I'm concerned that really is the most important part of a tattoo/piercing parlor.  As well as experienced employees.All their employees are certified and trained with years of experienceand being that the shop is owned and run by Tony Plante (who is a friend of my uncle) I trust that he only hires the best.They are very informative and answer every question no matter how stupid they may seem.There are no stupid questions when it comes to permanently changing your body.Their prices are reasonable and some of the best of scene and they are posted so there are no surprises.
