If you get the usual one with the twist on the inside, it's impossible to put it back in if you have the slightest swelling. He bends his own. Jason has excellent customer service skills. I first went to him almost 8 years ago, about a year after I got my tragus pierced at another parlor. That whole year I struggled with soreness, infections, and an awful keloid scar despite doing all the recommended care for my piercing. When I went in to see Jason, I was sure I'd have to get rid of my piercing, but instead he changed out the earring to one with a higher grade surgical steele. He told me the one I had in my ear for the year had a ton of nickel in it despite my telling the previous parlor my allergy to nickel. In no time at all my tragus piercing healed and the keloid completely disappeared. I just went back to him yesterday to change out my earring again, and he took the time out of his day to not only change my earring out but also make me feel completely comfortable doing so. I walked in off the street yesterday and I met Jason for the first time.  I was all stressed out, hyper, nervous about a medical issue and decided on a whim to get a tattoo.  Jason could have taken advantage of me in the condition I was in but he talked to me and wanted me to relax, calm down and come back the next day and do something very special instead of the crazy idea I had, if it wasn't for him I would have made the biggest mistake of my life but instead he gave me the coolest ideas and didn't rush me and the reason I'm telling everyone this is because of him not taking advantage of me that shows that he is one hell of a man and an artist and because of that I would never go anywhere else and I would highly recommend him to everyone.  I'm going back today and I will be sure to et everyone know about my new tattoo.  Also, it was very clean inside and that was a big plus. This shop was so rad, I called with a spur of the moment idea to double pierce my nose. Jason was super accommodating, he took his time prepping the room and sanitizing everything. If I could have given this place no stars I would have. I have no idea why everyone is saying Jason is so great and good at what he does. I asked him for help putting in two earrings in my rook piercings and first of all, right off the bat he insulted the jewelry I had picked. Second of all, he tried twice and after he failed he said "this can't be done." Wow. Very professional. Not to mention how craptastic the place looks. It should be condemned. This place is a filthy, tiny hole in the wall. I wouldn't go here again if you paid me.I also took a look at some Facebook posts and the tattoos are TERRIBLE. This guy shouldn't be allowed to tattoo. I've been going to Jason since I was 18. He's done all of my tattoos. Whether it's a cover up of a shitty tattoo before or his own work. I never have anything bad to say about him or his work. The shop is clean and always has music playing, so for me, it's relaxing. My thinking area is what I call it. I always feel welcome there and always have. I highly recommend going here. I walked into Chromatic earlier this week and Jason was so helpful! I was having trouble taking out and putting in new piercings and he was careful but efficient. He's so personable and easy to talk to and didn't even charge me a cent for his help! BEST BEST BEST ever! Jason is not only highly talented but also extremely professional. Shop is clean and always has great music playing too! Jason is easy to talk to, and ALWAYS goes out of his way for his clients. I was in a pinch with a bad piercing that SOMEONE ELSE did and Jason's shop was closed but I called anyway and he picked up (must have call forwarding) and he came in JUST to fix my piercing for me! He was there in 15 min. I was in Soooo much pain and just needed a new ring for my piercing so he only made $10 out of the deal but just goes to show how much he cares. I was literally almost in tears on the phone. Jason has also tattooed me and my friends in the past and pierced me multiple times and I've never been happier! Okay I do have to say this is the most awful shop I have ever been in...Nevermind the dirty carpet and pretty disease looking front counter with piercing jewelry that had more dust on it then a hunted mansion in a bad horror flick...And after all that I had the balls to get some ink done...It was a simple 666 across my right knuckles..It took Jason a good half hour to draw them up (that should've told me not to go there)..Then he doesn't wait til I'm in the nastiest tattoo room to open the needles and so on.....then a simple 666 took him over an hour and when I was done I noticed that he didn't tattoo it on me but he dug at it so much it's more of a scar then a tattoo....DO yourself a favor DON'T EVER GO THERE FOR ANYTHING.....I could go on and on but yeah I think I said enough Read Less

I have yet to go to Chromatic however I was in Bova's bakery in the North End one day and saw a key Jason did on a young womans back and it was AMAZING. I am a former art student and therefore am very picky about the artwork that goes on my body. The detail and shading of this tattoo were out of control. Jason helped me tattoo over a scar on my arm and it came out perfect.  I'd post a picture if I could.  I came in and told him what I wanted to do, came back in a few hours, and he had drawn it up.  He let me pick out the music I wanted while he worked.  It only took about two hours for him to bang out a large, detailed tree on my forearm, and the price was not outrageous either!  I'm going to chromatic for my next one! Great place.  I went here for my first tattoo with my girlfriend on her 18th birthday and her mother.  We all got inked that day and they came out great.  I would definitely go back here for another one down the road.  The prices were fair for the relatively small tattoos we all got, but well worth it. I got my first tattoo here.  I liked Jason a lot.  I got two others here after that, third one by his Aussie buddy who was really cool.  This was a while back in 05/06 for the three. I forget what the minimum was.. I think $50.  My tats weren't big, I didn't pay much at all.  I actually lucked out on #1 and got below minimum since it was so small.Thanks!!I was taken by a friend who got her work done there; word of mouth is the best way of publicity.  I haven't been back but I would put that in the places I would go for a future tattoo.Pretty small, doesn't need a lot of space though.  The rooms are private and it was very clean when I was there so I'm guessing it still is.  I'll have to stop in one day and take a peak.  My good friend lives over by there now.  Easy location to get too, parking could potentially be difficult if you don't know the area but side streets work wonders on parking (although now they've put in more permit parking in that area.. so maybe I take that back haha).Anyways, worth a shot going.  It's small but does the job and he is really friendly.. and good looking from what I remember. I had two positive experiences and one horribly bad one that assures I will NEVER go back to chromatic. I called for an appointment, told Jason exactly what I wanted, and showed up for my appointment.  He was smoking a cigarette inside when I arrived, and stood in the doorway to finish his cigarette while looking at the picture of what I wanted done.  While he finished his cigarette I walked back to the bathroom... there were empty beer cans all over the floor as well as a 6 pack of empty glass bottles.  There was a trash can with ice and full beers in it too.He told me I couldnt get it written in mirror image, because it would be too hard for him to do and no one else would be able to read it.  He said he couldnt see the picture of the flower I had, and could draw two petals if thats all i wanted.  At that point I got my picture back and left.  Like I said before, I have two other tattoos from Chromatic and love them, but my guess is that he was too drunk to tattoo me anyways.  I will NEVER go back to Chromatic!! I went to STINGRAY in Allston, and they were awesome, did exactly what I wanted, and were as professional as can be. Read Less
