Awful experience here. I have multiple tattoos and I would never choose this place. I have been here two times and both times they try to triple the size of my tattoo instead of the size I want. I went in last week for a tattoo for my grandma in a specific place and my artist basically said that I need to forget about my idea because he couldn’t do it. I cannot give enough praise to this studio. I specifically looked for an artist to do my half sleeve, a very detailed black and gray. Ben knocked it out in two sessions and I couldn't be happier with the result. My whole experience has been incredible! The staff here is awesome, the artists are so professional and still so laid back and easy to get along with. I took my fiance, sister, and brother in law here to get tattoos together and Ian and John made it a very special experience for us. I walked in after driving by.  I was immediately welcomed by their clerk and asked what I could be helped with. I came prepared w an image and Gonzalo "Gonzo" Chavez was in the shop and eager to help.  We chopped it up and he had a good idea what I was looking for. We made an appointment for the next morning 1/1/18 and he came prepared with an awesome design less than 24hrs later on New Years Day. He worked like a surgeon, deftly and precisely, every movement thoughtful and intentional. 3 hours later I walked out with a new piece of artwork that far exceeded my expectations.  I can't speak for the rest of the artists but Gonzo is legit.  Over a decade experience tattooing and he has mentored as well.  When one teaches, two learn and as Einstein said " if you can't explain it, you don't understand it yourself". If you're looking for a truly great tattoo, the guys and gals here are extremely talented artists. I've been tattooed by John and Dave, and have seen work from just about everyone else, and I can't stress enough how impressive and versatile these guys can be. All of my tattoos have a super nerdy theme to them,  ::cough cough Harry Potter and Game of Thrones tattoos cough cough:: and I've always felt like even if it wasn't their thing, they're so enthusiastic about it, and I really appreciate that. I've been to tattoo shops in the past where the artists and even receptionists have this egotistical attitude that is so unnecessary. But you won't find that here. Especially the manager, I forget his name so I feel like an ass, but he is SO EFFING NICE. I'm grateful I am that everyone here is so professional, and really friendly. Great experience at this place. Let me tell you, I had  been thinking about my first tattoo for a while, so I did quite a bit of research in styles/artists/shops. I eventually landed on Dave and booked a consultation. I was somewhat worried about picking someone as I was not only looking for a great artist to do the actual tattooing, but I was also looking for someone who could put my abstract idea (which I couldn't draw myself) down on paper. So I was really exited to have the consultation and "feel" the artist. Dave got the idea down almost immediately and rough-drafted the concept down within minutes. He also quoted me a great price and suggested we book 3 hours to make sure we had plenty of time (the tattoo itself was "simple" and not too large). I made the appointment for a few weeks down the road and when the day actually came, Dave did a terrific job, quickly (in the good way), and for a fraction of what I had budgeted. Artists here are top notch. Definitely make an appointment if you need a consultation. The new facility is fantastic and the owners are going above and beyond to make your session enjoyable. The shop is clean and well maintained and the staff are professional and welcoming.  There's no 'cooler than thou' vibe, which permeates so many establishments of this nature.  My Tattoo dude is Ian Adams, I've been familiar with his work for many years, he's a very accomplished illustrator and has been churning out rock flyers and album covers in the Boston scene for decades.  Adams quickly took my ideas and transformed them into amazing tattoo worthy offerings. I rarely leave reviews but am very upset with my experience here. I called ahead to see when the piercer would be in, as the website says to do. I called at 12:30 pm and the receptionist said the piercer would be in around 1 pm. I arrived at 1:15 and the receptionist happily told me the piercer would be arriving in 30-60 minutes. I went for a walk and came back at 1:45, during which I heard the receptionist again happily tell other customers that the piercer would be there in 30-60 minutes.A woman came in to get her seven year old daughter's ear pierced and the receptionist said they don't pierce ears for children under 17. The woman was frustrated because she drove an hour to get there and on the phone someone told her they could pierce a seven year old's ears. Apparently she misheard over the phone. When she left the receptionist made fun of her for being frustrated.At this point I decided to wait another 45 minutes until 3 PM (the apparent new time the piercer would be in) because I had already designated my day to getting the piercing done, and had already been waiting a while. A few minutes past 3 I hear the receptionist tell someone over the phone that the piercer would arrive in 15-30 minutes. At this point I left.While others might say it's my own fault that I wasted hours out of my day waiting for a piercer that never came, I think the piercer/receptionist could have handled this situation better. I'm sure the piercer would have done a good job but I will not be returning to a place with such a disorganized system. Read Less

Great shop, very talented artists! Ben is a real pro. He worked with me on the composition and placement of my tattoo, and inked it perfectly over 2 sessions and a touch-up. I could not be happier with how it turned out and will definitely call Ben for the next one. The shop itself has a nice vibe; there's always a movie on in the lobby (so much better than loud music!) And Logan at the front desk is super friendly and helpful. You can get a nautical star or a quote tattoo anywhere, but if you have a good idea and want to work with a real artist to make it happen, call Pino Bros. Strong recommend. Read Less

Came in today to get a forward helix piercing and the gentleman at the front desk was super friendly and helpful. Aaron who pierced my ear was patient and kind and walked me through the process, answered every question I had and was so calm that it put me at ease. I did some research on yelp on different piercing/tattoo shops in the Boston area and most of the reviews complained about the condescending tone that the employees had but not at this place. Everyone here was really nice and kind towards me even though I was super anxious about a simple ear piercing. The prices here are kinda high but I did get a 14K gold earring with a stone so that's probably why. To me its worth spending more on a quality piece of jewelry.Over all, highly recommend this place! Excellent artists and great people. A few years ago me and my 60+ year old Father went to get inked together. This was my 5th tattoo and my Dad's 1st ever. The skill of these guys can not be overrated. My Father was cleared by the doctor even though he was on blood thinners which could have made getting inked impossible. Not for these guys. Not only did they they pull off my Dad's ink, there was no blotting or running of the ink. My ink came out great as well. (Well mother now knows about my tattoos, so I can finally leave a review here and not worry if she sees it.) It was my first time getting tattooed, and even though I was pretty prepared for it, it was still a little nerve-wracking. I also was getting it done in a pretty painful spot. Dave Norton could not have been any more fantastic. I had picked him because his style matched the designs that I wanted, but he could not have made me feel more relaxed, welcome, and very comfortable. I wanted my first tattoos 'done right' and Dave exceeded my expectations both in artistry and professionalism. Thank you! Went here Friday with my friend to get my nose redone and was super pleased!! I can't quite remember the pierces name, Matt maybe? But he did a wonderful job. They took me into the piercing room where I could see all tools laid out and packages and the piercer was sure to wash his hands in front of me. I was a bit worried because I had had my nose done and was afraid I wouldn't be able to get the same spot redone, but the piercer checked it out and l let me know it looked ok! He explained everything to me that would be happening and made sure I didn't have any questions. I'm a huge wimp when I comes to pain but it was done in no time! He told me to focus on my breathing, breathe in and by the time I was ready to breath out it was done! Quick pinch! The price was wicked reasonable as well. I couldn't have had a better experience at Pino Bros! Ken was super nice and allowed 2 of my friends to come back with us and talked to us the whole time. It was my second tattoo but I was still pretty nervous, but Ken made me feel much more at ease. I had a very specific image of what I wanted and he was super willing to work with me as much as I needed to have the design exactly how I wanted. It turned out perfectly and I get compliments on it all the time. My friend said that watching him work and seeing the finished product made her want to get a tattoo herself right then and there! It was a little bit pricey, but completely worth it. I like how this shop has an hourly rate ($150/hr) instead of an arbitrary flat price, because it ensures that they are dedicating their full efforts to your tattoo! This is my favorite shop. Every time I've been there I notice they are visited by other tattoo artists from other shops in Boston. That always makes me feel like I'm in a place where the tattooing community gathers. It makes sense since they have 2 locations on the same block, one which has an art gallery. The 2 shops combine to about 4000 sq/ft of space, fully loaded with TV's, internet, cable, movie theater screens, 4 private bathrooms and 4 lounge areas. The second location at 1132 is also a private studio, so no one from the street can walk in. There's also a roof top balcony with an amazing view of Boston. Don't really know about the tattoos, but my piercing experience was great! I felt the need to get a nose piercing and found Pino Bros through Yelp. I walked in and it was pretty busy, but I immediately was greeted by someone at the front and was taken care of (already impressed). The guy that greeted me told me that it would only be a few minutes because someone was ahead of me which was fine. I didn't mind. I only waited maybe 8 minutes until Aaron walked up to me and introduced himself. He immediately made me feel comfortable and I knew it was going to be a great experience. I just had my two microdermal anchors removed by Aaron and had a really pleasant experience. I was sad to part with my anchors after 6 years and was having a lot of doubt/anxiety about doing it, but everyone at Pino made me feel relaxed and comfortable. My first tattoo was a lame little slingshot on my lower back. I never liked it and finally decided to get a cover job. I found Ken at Pino Bros via the Yelp review system which collectively declared that he is one of the better cover artists around. And boy were they right. First of all, I wanted to do a fairly large (1/3rd of my back) panorama of California desert flora and fauna. Ken wasn't familiar with the barrel cactus, ocotillo bloom, or Southern CA hummingbird colorations, but he did a ton of research and enthusiastically studied the pictures I gave him. He came up with a design that floored me with its spirit, precision, and interpretive flair. Second of all, this was about an 11-hour job and Ken made it as fun and lighthearted as it possibly could have been. We watched a bunch of movies, chatted, listened to music...for something as painful as a long back tat, Ken made the experience totally awesome. Third of all, this tattoo is gorgeous. People are taken aback by how vivid, detailed, artistic, and well-considered it is. It us clearly the work of someone who is not only very talented at his skill but who also puts a lot of love and passion into his work. Fourth of all, you can't tell it is a cover job at all. The original slingshot became an ocotillo branch and people have trouble picking it out. Ken's thoughtful design and skillful execution gave me a tattoo I love and feel proud of. Afterward I really felt like I had a meaningful experience that was totally positive and has continued to pay off. Other employees of the tattoo shop were very kind and enthusiastic about Ken's work and kept coming in to check it out and cheer him on. It was my first tattoo and I went (in a round-about way) right to Karrie Whitfield. Her work was recommended to me by a friend with loads of 'em, so I scheduled a consultation with a vague idea of the imagery I wanted. Karrie was open, warm, delightfully enthusiastic, it was contagious. Over the past months I had sought out shops in the Boston area that featured female tattoo artists and was not given this level of hospitality and care. Not even close. When the Big Day arrived, she presented to me her sketches. They were fantastic- the perfect balance of composition and whimsy, right on target of what I had tried to describe. During the prep stage, I appreciated her calm, thorough explanations what she was doing and what the next steps would be. Once she began the tattoo though she was focused on the work, which turned out to be three hours straight. She's a machine! I didn't have any view at all of the progress from my side lying position, but my bring-along buddy did and remarked "You're gonna FREAK" with a huge smile on his face. Karrie made something so unique, so beautiful, I touch it and still can't believe it's real. She is the standard for professionalism, guest care, quality of work, and she's hysterical to boot.
