Absolutely love this place. Don't listen to the bad reviews about this place. I think I waited 45 mins to be seen. It's really clean. The people who work there are really friendly. I would definitely recommend this place. I guess if I went on a weekend I'd walk out because of how busy it is. But they're clearly doing something right. I cannot say enough kind words about Andrew here. I came in borderline panicked about a botched triple forward helix (from another facility) that just wouldn’t heal and was giving me tons of trouble. Andrew explained everything he could do for me and helped me to feel calm as he fixed a problem he had no hand in creating in the first place. I have never felt so at ease while having to endure a lot of discomfort. He had me laughing and smiling and I’m absolutely thrilled with the results. It’s only been a few hours and I feel like I’m actually going to get to sleep soundly for the first night in weeks because I already feel relief from my previous pain. I got my tongue pierced here a few days ago. Apparently they put an externally-threaded double-bedazzled nipple ring in my tongue made of nickel & it got infected. I now have an indent in my tongue from the piercing being too small for my swollen tongue. This place is the best!! I went in because I made the mistake of going to a different piercer to get my nose pierced and they used an extremely oversized hoop and misplaced it. I came in only three days prior and asked the piercer Mike if there was anything he could do. He said no problem at all. I went in expecting just a new piece of jewelry and he repierced my nose and gave me new jewelry for just the price of the jewelry. I offered to pay full price but they insisted no! I really liked the artistic styles they showed on their website so I decided to give them a call asking for an appointment-- the website says that you can make appointments or walk in. 5/5 stars! I got my navel repierced here last week and they were excellent! I was tentative about the wait, since its walk-ins only, but I waited no longer than 10 minutes. The original place I got my belly button done charged $80 with jewelry, but Pins and Needles only charged $45! Also, since it was a repiercing they cut the price even more! My friend and I went in for a spur of the moment piercing. When I called to see if there was a line, the woman who answered was so nice and professional. We got a Tragus and rook piercing and with everything, start to finish we were out in less than 45 min. I was actually really impressed. I thought it was going to be a couple hours. The gentleman who pierced us was very nice, knowledgable and professional. He answered questions we had that had nothing to do with the piercing...s we were getting happily and thoroughly. I have teeny ears so he was kind enough to wait until after it was done to charge me, incase it couldn't be done. He made the wise decision to pierce my rook a little deeper to prevent rejection and explained this to me as he was doing it. I really expected all that cartilage to hurt but it was tolerable and just 24 hours after it hardly hurts at all. I will definitely be coming back for future tattoos and piercings for sure!!! Had two good experiences at Pins and Needles in Brockton. Recently went in last minute for something small, shop was excellent at the customization of the symbols I wanted tattooed on me. The placement is perfect. Overall the staff is well educated and gives excellent input and advice on what they think will work too. My first experience and larger tattoo was also very customized by the artist and took about two and a half hours. The tattoo has lasted perfectly for years now. I I will be going back for touch-ups here soon on my 5year old piece that took some sun, but still looks great.Read Less

I went here with my tattoo alredy drawn and he rushed it. It sucks because I have my best and worst tattoos from this place. But after the artist in the far left station in the front messed up this bad I had to leave a negitive review. Nothing about the tattoo is symmetrical, neat, or even. I paid $300 to have some guy gouge my arm with a needle. I've never had any tattoos heal this painfully. Some artists in there arnt bad, but after this experience I'll never go back. ***Update half the ink he 'packed' is now gone. It's more like sacrification at this point. Rude people work here. I am a generally happy person and always say hi to people in passing. With that said, I inquired about some work with the artist that was not busy at the time and he pretty much ridiculed me for no reason and I ended the conversation as casually as it began because I didn't want it to get even more uncomfortable especially while the other guy was working on my friends tattoo. Alsocome to find out later that my friends tattoo had been done with "bad ink" and now she has permanent damage to her wrist. I would never trust this place to do any kind of work on me. Ever. I'm pretty disappointed. I've been looking for a new shop since I moved back home from school and I looked up this place and it had good reviews pretty much across the board so I tried it out. I got a done a piercing with Mike, who was great. And also had him draw up a tattoo for me. He asked me to come in Sunday around 2 and I did. He was with someone else which is fine, but not one associate in the shop acknowledged that I walked in. I stood there for ten minutes, with associates walking around me, and no one said anything. I waited and then Ieft. It's a shame because it was a waste of my time and mike's for drawing that up. Me and two others went there to get our tattoos, they were all over priced, rushed through, and very painful the next day. I have six other large tattoos and this is half the size of all of the others. it hurt a lot more than any tattoo I've ever gotten and is now infected less than a week later. Also the man that did my tattoo was extremely creepy, my tattoo is on my hip and he  pulled my pants down way too far, my best friend went before my and her's were pulled up a lot higher than mine, when he was finished he pulled my pants down farther and was looking at my underwear, then covered my tattoo with a paper towel instead of plastic wrap. The only time my pants were not pulled down enough to give everyone a peek was when my boyfriend was next to me. I usually don't go here and honestly never will again. Read Less

I've gotten 3 tattoos from Jeff at pins and needles. My latest was a remembrance peice for my Dad. I will not go to anyone else. His line work is impeccable. His shading and over all designs are genius. I have only had my new tat for 3 days and have already received over 50 comments on the artwork. Also did a peacock on my upper arm 2 years ago. Went to pins and needles to get a belly button piercing. I've heard some good some bad about the place decided to go there anyways. Big mistake. Got pierced by the heavier set guy with face tattoos who seemed to know what he was doing. Long story short my piercing has been infected more than once and the skin has now thinned and the piercing needs to be removed. I was told to not wash it with salt water every day, rather every other day and to use antibacterial soap more often rather than salt water. WRONG! It's very important to wash your piercing every day with salt water and these guys are telling you no to/ Went to Squids ink to get another opinion since nothing seemed to be helping the infections. They were immediately shocked at the size of the belly button ring that pins and needles put it (I'm a small girl, the ring hung out of my belly button) Left a nasty scar due to improper ring size. I came here to get my tongue pierced and I love it! This place was very clean and bright, some stores scare me so I don't even dare to walk in. It was easy to find, the sign can be easily seen from across the street. My piercer was named Mike! Very handsome & professional! I am really pissed with this place. I recieved a peircing which ended up infected and rejected. I went back to have the guy removed it. Which he can clearly see puss coming out and the inside medal starting to come out of my skin and he says i have to pay 20 dollars for him to take out a piercing that he put in. I think that has been the dumbest thing i have ever heard of. And to think i gave these people a chance after hearing so many bad things about this shop from local br...ockton people. I still went ahead and got a dermal anyway. And now i am stuck with a rejected dermal that the heavyset guy refused to take out unless i payed him 20 dollars. I will never go back here again. Ive been to this place once before (couple years ago) to get my targus pierced. It was done beautufully! However, I recently moved back to this area and needed to get my nose pierced. Seems like the business hours on Yelp as well as their website are not accurate. Twice, I drove by - during what is supposed to be their bussiness hours (per their website)- and they were closed. The many times I called to make sure they were open before making another trip just to find them closed, they never pick up the phone. It was just frustrating and even I can't be this patient. if I could give this place 0 stars I would. I went in for a simple nose piercing. I expected everything to go smoothly because they have a descent amount of stars on here. So I get in the piercing room and the man places a dot on my nose. I look at it and tell him that I want it lower. He goes on to tell me that he placed it correctly and yadda yadda. I again say that I would like it lower. He continues to tell me that according to the crease in my nose he did it correctly. So he pierced my nose and it was completely not what I wanted. I guess he failed to remember that this is my nose not his. So I get in the car and drive 30 minutes back home and I'm extremely upset. I call them to say to ask for a refund and they refuse me. I was a little taken aback when I saw this was in a strip mall between a pizza place and a convenience store, but the guys there were really  friendly. I got two dermals on my wrist, and Erik was very thorough marking the lines up to get them even, and the guy from the front desk even came back to suggest other placements. He spent a majority of the time making sure I liked the way they were lined up, even having me stand up and put my arms down and taking a picture on his cell phone to show me what it would look like to others. He tried to small talk with me during the process to keep my mind off getting two holes punched into my arm, which is always appreciated. My friend then got snake bites done on her lips, and the guy measured and everything, making sure they were even. I'm not sure if it's cause of the recent review regarding crooked piercings that they were extra precautious, but it's a good sign if they take their reviews seriously and try to improve on past complaints. I was looking for extra nipple rings too and couldn't figure out what size I wanted, so he gave me a more than fair price to take both sizes. I was  skeptical of the walk-in only tattoos, but the one guys work I could see getting done looked excellent. The girl before me had been going there for years. If I don't get careless and end up snagging my dermals, I'd definitely come back here for two on my other wrist. Read Less

My daughter came here five months ago for a triple piercing on her ear (one was in the middle of the ear  about 1 third of an inch from the ear canal, the other two were suppose to form a straight line right to the edge if the ear.  It came out just ok. because it did not form a perfectly straight line.  We waited for the ear to heal and went back to get it fixed.  I paid for a piercing so they would line up correctly.  The piercer totally screwed up.  It looked worse than before.  They were not evenly spaced out and they were now even more of a zig zag pattern then before.  When I complained he basically told me I would have to pay for another piercing to fix HIS mistake.  I called the Portland, ME store to see if I could get in touch with the owner.  I hope I hear from her. I am a little surprised to see so many negative reviews about this place. I got an amazing piece done on my chest at Pins and Needles, was given a VERY fair price and the artist was helpful, innovative & accommodating. The only issue that I could understand customers would have, as Reese A mentioned, is the general demeanor of artists in tattoo shops. I have 7 tattoos, all from different shops, and I've noticed that most artists definitely could make a first time/infrequent customer feel uneasy, intimidated or pressured. But these artists are not paid to work in retail! So you need to pressure them, ask a million questions and ensure every detail is understood. I should also mention I got this tattoo 3-4 years ago and am not evaluating any recent work/existing artist skills. But I would go to this again. Read Less

Everything used was completely sterile. I felt completely comfortable the entire time and I would go back in a heartbeat!!  DO NOT BE AFRAID BY THIS OLD YELPS!!  I would give this place a chance..I think you will be pleasantly surprised... Ignore all the slander written here about the racism, I've been here plenty of times and it simply isn't true! Just act like a mature adult and you'll be treated like one yourself. I have to put a disclaimer here that my review is based solely on professionalism and friendliness and not on service.  I have been here twice now, both for the replacement of a ball in a navel piercing.  Both times I left feeling like "wow, I feel like I was bothering them."  I understand that I'm only giving you 5 seconds of work but I am also tipping the price that the service costs and it literally was a 5 second job.  A gentleman last night who was getting a sizable tattoo stopped to use the bathroom.  He came back, told them they were out of paper towels in the mens room and literally nobody said or did anything.  It was like they went out of their way to ignore him.   These guys are divas.    Based on these other reviews, they don't do good enough work to merit that attitude. The problem with this tattoo shop is not the quality of their work, their price, or their competence. It is more the fact that they become so comfortable in their craft that they forget that some people are doing this for their first time. They forget to ask, but if it is something permanent on your skin, you should be comfortable enough to ask specifics. Even if you think you are annoying your artist. Piercings are no exception. The 45 dollars you are paying to someone else to do something YOU want should not leave any room to be shy and not ask for a specific ring, or specific place. In a tattoo shop I have learned to be assertive because the one time I was shy, I wound up with a tattoo that had to be covered up. What I'm getting at is the fact that a tattoo or piercing is a two-way street and can change the experience and overall satisfaction if both are on the same page. Many people are too embarrassed to make the artist go through more work if you don't like the placement or design, but you must understand that this is their job. They will go through the extra work if they have to. Some of them are very understanding, some of them get annoyed, but still they will do the work. If you find your artist to be too irritable, no one is going to kill you if you ask for a new artist or if you feel like his attitude ruined your entire experience no one will kill you if you leave. I have been going to pins & needles for eight years now, and never have I ever gotten any tattoos that I regret or look wrong. My artist designed a lot of my tattoos himself and he captured what I was imagining so well. He also covered up that mistake I brought up earlier and it looks perfect. I've never gotten a racist vibe from that place; on the contrary, it's always been a fun experience for me. Look at portfolios before you do something, it helps a lot. The first time I went here, it was VERY spur of the moment and last minute. I caught the store right before closing and the guy who pierced the left side of my lip (I don't remember his name) was in a rush to get to the club, didn't listen to me when I told him that I'd probably need a longer bar since I have thick lips to begin with and ya know.. SWELLING. So he was like 'Nah, you'll be fine'. So he pierced me quickly and impersonally. I was out with some sea salt, mouth wash and a nice lil 'how to' keep your piercing clean card. Lets just say, I had problems later. As I had told the piercer, my lip is big, it will swell even bigger, the back of the bar was cutting into my lip. Pushing itself out. Pain. Lots. Cleaning it was harder than it should have been.I ended up going back for help and to get a longer bar. LOW AND BEHOLD the REAL piercer, Kenny, who is awesome and a huge nerd, apologized for what had happened even though it wasn't his fault. He was nice and helpful during the removal of the smaller bar. It hurt so f*%^ing much. OMG. During it all he talked about Pokemon. That kept my mind busy for the switching out of the shorter bar for the longer one. Holy hell, as soon as the longer bar was in, I felt a thousand times better. It ended up healing pretty well after that. I ended up going back to get the other side of my lip pierced about a year later. It went smoothly and Kenny was the one who pierced it for me again. Awesome. No issues. I ended up having to take it out for complicated reasons. I let it heal up for a good 6mths, went back, and got it re-pierced. It hurt going through the scar tissue, but again, piercing was well done, great piercer, and it was quick and not that painful.I plan to go back in a bout a week or so to hopefully get my septum pierced. :]Kenny is the best. Just got pierced here recently. When I walked into the place the guys behind the counter didn't even look up from the counter to greet me. They were very impersonal and had no personality. After getting pierced I wasn't even offered a mirror to see how it looked and was sent on my way. The only positive thing I will say about this place is that it appears to be pretty clean. First I entered the shop and no one greeted me/dude sitting on a couch nodded at me 5 minutes later asked what I wanted. Didn't ask what jewelry I wanted (a hoop or silver stud if they didn't pierce with hoops), didn't show me where he placed the dot on my nose, which was a repierce and COMPLETELY missed the old spot so now I have 2 holes on top of each other. I was bleeding profusely and he just kept blotting it with dry paper towels. Also stuck a cork diamond stud in there which is the opposite of anything I would ever want. Afterwards I went to Extreme Fantasy Tattoo in Abington where I should have gone in the first place, they fixed their mistake and switched it out with a hoop for me. I took my daughter here recently for a piercing and I did not like the vibe here; I honestly felt that everyone except the guy who did her piercing was very impersonal; they do not make eye contact with you and do nothing to help you decide or encourage you that you would want to get a tatoo here.  I asked questions about a particular design i.e. price, smaller version and the guy (the bald guy) was very vague and not very helpful, in fact he seemd very uninterested in helping.  I honestly left here feeling they were racist..  When I told my friend my daughter got a piercing and where, she said her husband did not like the place and she basically reitereated the same impression I got (he too felt they were racist).  I find this to be funny since I'm sure with their business being in Brockton that 90% of their potential (and I stress the word potential) customers are minorities.  When I was leaving a woman going into the convenience store asked him if he was an artist (he was outside at this point); he was more than willing to answer her; I'm sure I don't need to tell you what her race was.  Trust me, I'm the last person to bring race into play but this place really had a very Aryan Nation/skinhead vibe.  What's even more hilarious to me is they were watching Dave Chappelle and cracking up at it; LOL to that.I will say that it was very clean but when I do allow my daughter to start getting tatoos it will not be here; first impressions are lasting impressions!***We now go to Sin Alley in Pawtucket; very nice people.
