This is hands down the best tattoo shop & tattoo experience I have had in my life. My girlfriend and I were in Boston to celebrate our anniversary and decided to get some little tats. We searched on yelp and they did not steer us wrong. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the beaming receptionist. She talked to us about what we wanted to get done, told us there would be a wait but made us feel so comfortable while we were eagerly awaiting our artist. Gave us bottled water and chatted us up. Ben (who was our artist) came out and shook both of our hands. Talked to us about what we wanted and told us what would and wouldn't work. He gave us his price range which was COMPLETELY reasonable for someone with talent like his. When it came to the actual tattooing, it was a dream. Emily and I didn't feel rushed at all. Such a welcoming and kind environment. Ben talked to us the entire time and was such a kind soul. We left feeling so much better than when we walked in. The guy at the front desk was nice and offered free snacks and beverages while we waited. Waited about 3 hours as a walk in for a super simple tattoo and when trying to discuss the concept with artist Jimmy, he seemed to be annoyed and frustrated that I was particular about the ink I was about to permanently put on me. This place is great!!!! Super clean and professional, everyone was really nice, and Jimmy did a great job. This is a top notch shop. I have been getting tattooed for 30 years. I have leg, chest, back tatoos and am sleeved on the other arm so I speak from a well educated position. Jimmy Johnson was my artist and we just clicked. I gave him a small amount of direction and trusted his discretion. To me, this is the best way. He is the artist. I just have a statement I want to make. He fulfilled the task well. I was hungry when I got there and asked him if he wanted something to eat. I usually do this with anyone working on me or for me. At other shops, when the invitation is given to the artist they go around and take orders from everyone in the shop so as to take advantage of my generosity. The exact opposite happened here. Jimmy ordered lunch for me, him and a guy that was at one time his apprentice. Well this time Jimmy bought lunch and it wasn't some crappy Burger King either. I also had a headache so Jimmy provided ibuprophen and water. Later, he ordered coffee from Dunkin Donuts and offered to buy that for me too. Where to begin? All of the artists and staff are very polite and made us feel right at home. Mike, the artist of my piece, was very accommodating and polite regarding modifying my idea in order to maximize the "finished piece" as well as the space it would take up on my arm. What a great place to get a tattoo. Very professional and clean. Everything is sterile and wrapped. The staff is super nice and welcoming. The front desk offered us water and soda, they also have a coffee machine. The other tattoo artist that was there was incredibly friendly as well. He allowed me to come over and watch what he was drawing for someone else and explain what he was doing.Josh, our tattoo artist, was very accommodating and nice. He was able to turn our idea for a 5 leaf clover into a great tattoo. He was friendly, light handed, creative. He's everything you want in a tattoo artist. Horrible experience here. Jimmy was not only unpleasant but unprofessional. Both times I came in he had an attitude. No one cares if your partial owner dude , literally you provide a service that's not a necessity. Your ignorance was not ever necessary or warranted at all. I now lose out on a deposit because your attitude and actions made me not want your negativity tattooing my body . You drew up a shit piece. Like literally I get you won't copy another artist but why the hell do you act superior when someone comes in with a picture of a tattoo they like or want. But better yet you do allot of old american traditional tats that have been drawn and done a million and one times over. Is it Cause you can't draw that well ? I didn't get why you were so rude the first day but now I see. Don't shun people for not wanting to work with you cause from the jump your rude as hell , and seemed uninterested in my cover up . Don't deal with him . Maybe the other artists are better . But literally all the people inside the shop looked uncomfortable after the interaction. The shop is new, just a little over a year old and is cleanly designed with a variety of tattoos on the wall as well as paintings. They also utilize the latest technology to help you browse what artwork may be of interest to you and what may be best for your body during your consultation with your artist. There is a comfortable seating area, a pool table, and refreshments (water, coffee, granola bars - free of charge). They accept walk-ins, but for larger pieces plan to book an appointment in advance. They don't do body piercings at this time. The staff are knowledgeable and extremely friendly - making sure you have all your needs met throughout your time with them. They offered to order us lunch while we were there for our tattoos. They want to make sure you are happy as well - rechecking their work often before, during and after. I have been looking for a great artist here in Boston when the time came to get my next piece. Well I happy to say I have found my guy in Jimmy Johnson at Seaport Tattoo Company in South Boston. From beginning to end every interaction was a positive one. The team is extremely professional, the shop is spotlessly clean, and just a cool spot overall. When I first met with Jimmy he was honest and transparent about the placement of my piece and took the time to follow up before the appointment to confirm the finer details. Jimmy was great to chat with while he tattooing me and he is a true artist and takes pride in his work. He even went a step further and showed me an added enhancement to my piece that I wasn't in the original design and I decided to have him add it on and I'm glad I did. Jimmy's rate was reasonable and very affordable which made it that much better!!I will be continuing to go back to Seaport Tattoo to work with Jimmy and I am glad I found this gem in South Boston. This place was fantastic. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. We came in with a large crew and only 2 of us were getting tattoos. At other places, this might have been awkward, but not at Seaport Tattoo Company. The staff was welcoming to the whole group, not just the paying customers.  That's customer service! We played some pool, looked at the art and had a great time. The tattoo was based on some ideas we had, but then was reworked and completely original. It came out amazing! I got my first tattoos done at the Seaport Tattoo Company about 2 months ago. My artist was Kyle. The entire experience from start to finish was as good as I could hope for. My tattoo was a walk-in, I called beforehand and Leah, who works at the front desk (Which is a HUGE plus) worked with me to give me an idea of when an artist would be free to do a walk-in. I was fully taken care of when i got there, I was offered water, coffee, etc., and Leah was friendly and made conversation. Kyle adjusted the design according tomy preference everytime I wanted to change something. He told me it would take about 40 minutes for each one; LIES. it took him about 40 minutes TOTAL. I got two 3-4 line quotes on both of my outer forearms, between my elbow and wrist. Kyle did a single pass on every line and let me tell you EVERY LINE IS PERFECTLY STRAIGHT. I dozed off while he did my right arm, he was super gentle and super quick. I am in love with both of my tattoos and they healedlike a dream. I also got an aftercare package for my tattoos complimentary. Their prices are reasonable, and they work super quick. They do awesome work, and the shop is PRISTINE. I've already visited the shop to talk to Kyle about my next piece and he reccomended another artist in the shop who would be better suited which I was both shocked and pleased by. I have been going to Mike for a couple years and he never disappoints. The prices are extremely fair and the work he does is always above and beyond my expectations. I've been seeing Mike Graciale for my tattoos for a while now. I was disappointed to hear that he switched shops but was blown away when I got there. The shop was clean, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing. It's probably the nicest tattoo shop I've been to in MA. The artists (and apprentices) who work there are all super friendly and talented at what they do. Clean, gorgeous shop. You can tell when you work with him that Jimmy isn't going to put anything on you that he's not satisfied with. Size, font, punctuation, detail, all taken into account before he even prints a stencil. I had two small font tattoos done during the same visit and it took a total of 12 minutes. What sets this shop apart from the rest is the atmosphere and the customer relations skills of all the staff. First off let me say having a front desk girl is wonderful because having a tattoo shop answer your email within an hour of you sending it is 100 percent unheard of in the industry, but they got it. The second and in my opinion more important thing is neither artist is a stuck up (I can think of more creative language but I wanted this review to reflect the same professionalism I experienced at the shop). They are both easy going down to earth working class dudes. In an age when shows like inkmaster and apps like IG has made even the most mediocre of artists think they are gods gift to tattooing it was so refreshing to come into a shop and meet guys like Kyle and jimmy. On first glance with slacks and a tshirt you'd never know I had quite a few tattoos and I'm also in the military so I look fairly clean cut. I can't tell you how many shops I've walked out of because they treat me differently because of that. Well not here they went really above and beyond the call. I had a tattoo artist flake on me last minute for a really important tattoo for a teammate I lost. I wanted to get the tattoo on the one year anniversary of his death. I came in and explained the situation. They went above and beyond to accomodate me. Got me in the next day on the anniversary for a custom tattoo. They had super reasonable prices. With my tattoo being custom and all the special attention I got and the quality of the art I expected to pay an arm and a leg for this tattoo. That was not the case. It was a fair price. First Jimmy is a master tattoo artist. He won't put anything on your body if it won't look right, he doesn't copy anyone's tats he wants to make it your own and since he's putting his stamp on it he wants to make it original. That to me speaks volumes of his professionalism and how serious he takes each tat he puts on someone. Next his new studio is a one of a kind, it's state of the art, bright, clean and built with tattoos in mind. He's got a drawing table with state of the art tablets and software to make the BEST IMAGE possible so you'll see exactly what your going to get.
