Called to inquire about artist styles and schedules as well as pricing. Front desk staff seemed pretty clueless when it comes to pricing and artists' styles of tattooing. Any questions I had were answered incredibly vaguely, if at all. The guy I spoke with didn't give me a name. He seemed annoyed that he had to answer questions. Glad I had the negative experience now rather than when I was in the chair. If you want a good customer service experience ask for Rachel!!! She was incredible nice and professional. Made me about getting the two piercings I got. She was so adamant about contacting her if there was anything wrong or I had a concern. I know some of the other reviewers were questionable but I don't know why. I got my tragus and belly button pierced by Rachel this past Saturday, and I found her to be a delight! She explained each step as she was doing it and made me feel at ease during the whole appointment. She gave me her contact information at the end and encouraged me to reach out if I had any questions during the healing process. I got my partner a tattoo for Christmas. The artist was not very enthusiastic about the design and I think this resulted in a poorly drawn tattoo. So in the end it cost me $100 (plus tip), and then a further $60 to get it redone elsewhere (not comfortable going back). See the attached image, right was done at Tattoo Paradise and the left is it redone up in Philly at Black Moth. I took my 17-year-old daughter in to get her first ear piercing because I understand that tattoo places have better sanitary conditions than mall kiosks.  She required that I produce a birth certificate for her for a first earlobe ear piercing, a piece of information not on their website.  The piercing was done neatly and cleanly, but with no warmth for a clearly nervous girl. From the minute I walked into the door untill my boyfriend and I walked back out, the receptionist was disgustingly rude. She's  very pretty so maybe she thinks that allows her to demean and belittle someone.  My boyfriend asked a simple question about hand tattoos, they gave an highly innaproproptate number and then when he asked another question , a rude tattoo artist laughed in his face and had some slimy dismissive remark that stopped when I said forget it, these rude people clearly don't want bussiness, and we left. After searching out numerous tattoo parlors, we found Tattoo Paradise staff to be the most friendly that we've encountered. Some parlors have an atmosphere that can be a bit off, but not here. The moment we walked in we were greeting like friends that hadn't seen us in awhile. They were very involved with giving us advice on what art we wanted and who the best person would be for the job. EDIT: Thank you to the owner who replied back, i will come back to see Matt in a few weeks. Over charged $135 for a small, one sq inch tattoo and did it wrong. For some reason the artist Jeff had the welcome staff Nate redraw the small design I brought in, instead of redrawing it himself. During the inking stage, Jeff the artist messed up on the outer line and then tried to talk over his covering up of the mistake while making the circle of the yinyang sign lopsided. Jeff also shrunk and over did the inside of the yinyang sign. Wouldn't ever recommend Jeff, and be sure Nate doesn't draw your stencil. Extremely disappointed. Read Less

I went to this place to get a small tattoo on my wrist, nothing detailed, just 3 letters and a small asterisk next to it. The width and height of the tattoo was going to be smaller than .5 of an inch. The women working there tried to charge me $120 for it!! I respectfully declined and went to another tattoo parlor five minutes away and they charged me less than half the amount that tattoo paradise tried to charge me.  I guess they assumed that this was my first tattoo, and that I wouldn't know the general price range for one. Everyone is super friendly, it's a comfortable atmosphere, the prices are on par with what I had anticipated, and the artists are very skilled. I got a custom piece done on my left shoulder blade and rib cage. It is my first tattoo so I didn't really know what to expect, but Deirdre talked me through it all, and my tattoo is everything I wanted and more! She is very detail oriented and focused on creating high quality art. Her linework is amazing; I got a ton of compliments just on the outline! I can't recommend Deirdre highly enough. Got my first tattoo by Deirdre and I absolutely love it. Gary, at the front desk, was super chill and funny as well as very open to feedback on my stencil. I was extremely nervous about getting the tattoo which Deirdre handled in stride. She talked me through the whole thing and was so sweet. People who think the place is “overpriced” obviously dont understand how talented all the artists are. This place is definitely clean I'll give them that much and nick was absolutely awesome and personable just really great! ... but that's about it for the positivities. Main negativity The receptionist wasn't exactly receptive  and the prices! when I asked the receptionist why the tattoo ( which was all lines btw) was SOO expensive and showed him a pervious tattoo I had, which was much bigger with more lines I had gotten from a previous shop for a lot cheaper... and I'll never forget the most unprofessional response I have ever gotten from an establishment " well you should have just gone back there" he didn't even answer the question and shrugged his shoulders and said "that's the way it is." Well okay. You just made my decision on whether I'd come back here again or even recommend it to my friends... I obviously will not do so. Which is too bad cause Nick was awesome and the receptionist is causing him to lose business. In the end the whole thing took less than 10 minutes and I paid 160 for a bunch of lines. So I walked into shop very excited about getting a tattoo.  There were 2 people in the shop.  One of them came up me and said, how can I help you? I, very innocently said, I've been looking at your website and I found this artist that I like but I don't remenber his name.  One of the people that  was at the shop,  was in fact the artist that I was looking for.  I started to explain to the artist the art that want on my.  Anyway, as I kept explaining the first person rudely, and with a shady tone of voice,  interrupted me and said, " I am the receptionist and you need to go through me first before you speak to the artist."  I was not expecting that reaction from the receptionist,  so I kindly apologized but felt somewhat uncomfortable and embarrassed b/c there were other customers in the store. As I kept apoligizing, this is the only thing that kept coming out his mouth, " oh no you're good. " The artist walked away and I had no choice but to speak to this receptionist who was already a complete turn off for me. I could've walked out but I kept my cool because I really want to give this place a chance. They do have amazing reviews. Anyway, as I started explaining to the receptionist but had to stop myself and said, I really rather talk to the artist.  Thank God he understood.  I finally spoke to the artist who was patient enough to hear me out so I  booked my appointment and hopefully when my tattoo gets done I can say some positive comments about this location.  We shall see what happens. I had very bad experience there. The nose piercing girl will only remove the nose jewelry if you buy new one from her. Sometime she did not have the style I like and I brought my own, but she refused to put on for me. Also her jewelry is two parts pinching together type and almost impossible for me to put them back by myself. I had to go back every time I want to change. I don't go there anymore. Read Less

"Only one person (friend) allowed back" it took them 45 minutes to get prepared for the tattoo even though we already had a consultation. "No videos, no pictures" they were sort of nice, and this place is way over priced, they will charge you almost double the price of any other tattoo place around here.Read Less

I can't say enough about my experience with Deirdre Aikin!! She is an absolutely AMAZING artist and super easy to work with turning a bad tattoo (see details below) into a tattoo that I couldn't love more. I have received so many compliments on it that I had to ask Deirdre for business cards to hand out to people when they ask where I got it done. Details: I had a tattoo covered up, a sun on my shoulder which was a cover up of a smaller tattoo, (don't judge, I was young and stupid with the 1st tattoo!) while I was in San Fran and wanted to cry, not in a good way, when I saw finished tattoo. As soon as I got back home, I researched tattoo artists in the area (a lot) and then went and talked to a few.As soon as I met with Deirdre Aikin, I knew she would be able to cover up my tattoo with a tattoo I would be proud of. She was upfront about it being a lengthy process and recommended getting a few laser removal sessions done to lighten my tattoo up. She had me check-in with her after each laser treatment to see if it was at a point of being able to be recovered up yet. After a few painful laser sessions, my tattoo hadn't lightened at all! Deirdre seemed as frustrated as I was about the lack of results and moved on to plan B, doing a few "white out" tattoo sessions. After my tattoo was sufficiently lightened, she was finally able to start on my tattoo. It took over a year to complete so my skin could heal between sessions and since there had been a lot of work done in the area, the healing process was longer than normal. I used to joke with her that she was going to regret taking on my cover up, of a cover up, of a cover up because once I show people before and after pics, she was going to get more clients wanting difficult cover ups. I'll add pics of what she started with, a few of the work-in-progress, and the final tattoo to show how skilled she is at not only tattooing on fresh skin but also in tattooing over a difficult cover up, of a cover up, of a cover up (you can only imagine the amount of scar tissue she had to deal with). Over the course of last year, I got a large colored thigh tattoo consisting of a mermaid, small fish, kelp, and a shark.  My artist was Deirdre Aikin and she, on top of being an overall badass, is an amazing artist!!! The level of detail and quality of work of my tattoo is superb.
